As a result, he is not career driven and would prefer someone else to be in charge.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths: self-confident, hard working, people oriented

Weaknesses: dislikes abstraction, sees the universe in black and white, rigid
Ambitions To be the best officer that he can be and rise through the ranks as according to his superiors. However, he will not leave Kara and will not move from the station without her or his family.
Hobbies & Interests Sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, snorkeling, Krav Maga, Mok'bara, hiking, chess (though he is mediocre at best), family (Does Kara count as a hobby and interest?), and cooking.

Personal History Tomer Chaim was born into a distinguished family with a deep legacy of military and Starfleet service. His father was a tactical officer on the USS Galil, known for his valor during skirmishes with the Cardassians. His mother was a decorated captain in Starfleet’s logistics division. Both of Tomer’s grandparents on his father’s side had served in the Israeli Defense Forces before transitioning to Starfleet, marking a generational shift toward Earth’s united military service.

Growing up in Haifa, Tomer was instilled with a strong sense of duty, discipline, and cultural pride. He developed a love for exploration, nurtured by tales of his parents’ adventures across the stars.

Tomer attended the prestigious Mount Carmel Preparatory Academy, where he was a standout student and athlete. He excelled in piloting simulations and demonstrated an innate understanding of tactical strategies. His time in Haifa also cultivated his love for the sea, often sailing with friends along the Mediterranean coast—a passion he later likened to navigating the vastness of space.

At 16, Tomer volunteered for the Earth Defense Cadet Program, an extracurricular initiative that introduced him to the basics of command, operations, and interstellar diplomacy. This experience cemented his desire to join Starfleet, not just as a career, but as a way to carry on his family’s legacy.

Family Influence and Conflicts
The Chaim family’s history created both inspiration and pressure for Tomer. His older brother, Zion, was a decorated Starfleet Marine, known for his leadership in border skirmishes with the Tzenkethi. Meanwhile, his sister, Talia, the black sheep of the family serves as a science officer.

Before officially joining Starfleet Academy, Tomer spent two years on Earth working in planetary relief efforts under the Federation Civil Service Corps. He helped coordinate aid missions to colonies impacted by natural disasters. This experience provided him with a nuanced understanding of Starfleet’s role in maintaining peace and stability within the Federation.

At 18, Tomer Chaim was accepted into Starfleet Academy. His early life experiences and family history gave him a natural affinity for leadership and a strong moral compass, traits that would later define his Starfleet career.

After graduating from Starfleet, he was assigned to the USS Skyhawk. Six months into his tour, the Skyhawk responded to a distress call from a Federation freighter under attack by unknown assailants. Arriving at the scene, the Skyhawk discovered a band of Nausicaan raiders attempting to loot the vessel. As part of the away team sent to secure the freighter, Tomer faced his first combat scenario.

During the mission, Tomer’s team came under heavy fire, and their leader was incapacitated. Despite his inexperience, Tomer took charge, directing his colleagues to cover critical areas and coordinating a retreat to the ship’s secure cargo bay. His quick thinking and tactical acumen allowed the Skyhawk to beam the team and the freighter’s crew back to safety while minimizing casualties.

Tomer’s performance in this crisis earned him a commendation for bravery and resourcefulness.

He then transferred to the Faragut and was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. In the latter half of his tour, the Farragut undertook a covert reconnaissance mission near Breen space. While the details were classified, Tomer played a critical role in safeguarding sensitive data and ensuring the ship’s security during a prolonged cloak-and-dagger operation. His meticulous planning and discretion in handling sensitive materials highlighted his potential for future leadership roles.

Consequently, he applied to the USS Kumari and was given the position of the Assistant Chief Security Officer. His time on Kumari would change his life as he met his future wife, Kara Quinn.
