Finally at Ease

394 words; about a 2 minute read

Mission: Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Corridors/Chief Engineer's Office
Timeline: MD12 - 1300 Hours

Catrina pulled herself out from under a console to grab her tricorder. The repairs were done, but now she had to do some system stabilizations. Not that she minded, as there wasn’t near as much rush on this part. It also helped that she wasn’t near as tired.

She’d been sleeping so much better now than in the past few years. She felt more relaxed in her own skin, not near as jumpy. She could have regular conversations without the fear of something happening. Naturally, the fear was still there. But at the same time, it wasn’t at the front of her mind anymore.

Her night spent with Sarah had been completely unexpected, though exactly what she needed. She’d never felt anything for anyone as deeply as she did with that woman. Her heart fluttered every time she thought about it. Cat hasn’t wanted her to leave the next morning, but also knew that she had to get back to her team.

Although, now this gave her more to worry about. She couldn’t check up all the time and see how Sarah was doing when she was out there. But she had to know she could take care of herself.

Shaking from her thoughts, Cat ran a scan of what she’d just finished and gave a smile as she gathered up her tools. Her feet took her back to her office yet again, but it was much cleaner than it was before. Just the daily reports is all she had to work on at the end of each shift. It made things so much simpler when she wasn’t having to sign off on this or that. Granted, that would still be there, but it wasn’t something that took her whole day and night.

She’d also started digging into what Captain Refelian had mentioned when he checked up on things: The docking bays on Luna. There was nearly as much work there that there had been on the station. But, he had said it wasn’t something that needed to be taken care of now.

Falling into her chair, Cat spun around a bit, beyond excited to be at ease. It’d been so long since she’d felt like this. Maybe the change of scenery was exactly what she needed...amongst other things.
