Mission: Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Marine Hangar
Timeline: MD02 - 1515

Paulenna was in the cockpit of the Valkyrie fighter, as the dark of space gave way to the bright blue of the upper atmosphere. The mishmash of craft in formation around her where the first contingent for the base. Eventually an entire fighter squadron would be deployed to the station, with the potential to stand it up to an entire group.

"Alright everyone stay in formation, we're cleared to land at the main hanger. We don't have a ground crew in place yet so we'll you've all been assigned a landing zone, set down and power down, we'll be moving them into the hanger later." She received the course of affirmative responses and watched as the clouds parted, the base was as large as the one on New Aberdeen Colony where she served last but it would get the job done. Leading the vessels in she touched down softly on the reinforced tarmac and a moment later hopped out of the craft.

"Lieutenant take the lead here, once the ground crew get's situation take over get everything into the hanger. I'm going to report to the Colonel." She said to the silver-bared first Lieutenant. He simply nodded and turned and started barking orders at the other pilots.

Colonel Haversford was already entering the hangar after meeting with Captain Refelian. “Any problems on the way down, Captain?” The Marine Commander said as he yanked down his uniform jacket.

"No sir." Paulenna replied snapping to attention as she approached, "Based on the manifest I'm your ranking pilot at the moment. The Squadron Commander is slated to arrive with the rest of the fighter contingent."

“Agreed. The safety of this base is in your hands, Captain.” The Colonel said with a smirk, “Think you can handle the pressure?”

Paulenna crack a grin, “Of course Sir. I’d like to conduct a thorough survey of the system as it has been quite a while since once was done. I would also recommend we use to the squadron to search the planet or the missing admin team. My understanding is we still have no leads on that front.”

“Let Refelian and his people work on finding the admin team, we need to get the Marine barracks up and running. We’ve been allowed to use the main landing pad as a temporary base camp while we get the barracks up to scratch.” The Colonel said. “Getting to know the lay of the land is also a good idea. Do a sweep on the planet and system as part of your next exercise. Stay out of the Faltan’s airspace, last thing we need is inadvertently alienating the natives.”

"I thought we had a joint use agreement with them on air space." Sallem replied recalling the briefing package she had read while the carrier was on route.

“On paper, yes. But from what I understand the relationship with the Faltan’s is difficult. I’d rather not cause problems but having Squadrons flying round their air space as soon as we arrive.” Haversford replied.

"Copy that sir. Once we have camp set up we'll begin our survey." The Captain replied.

The Colonel nodded, “Thoughts on this assignment?”

"It's going to be interesting from the start, depends on how good our neighbours are. Starfleet wants to expand in the region again so I'm sure we'll be kept busy." She replied.

“I agree. There is plenty to keep us busy, however previous contact with the Faltan’s hasn’t gone overly well. I’m hopeful it’ll be different this time around.” Haversford said.

"Well I'm glad I'm not the one responsible for getting them to like us." She replied with a grin.

“Guess who will be drafted in to begin aggressive negotiations.” James said with a smirk. “I’m sure we’ll be fine with the Faltan’s. It’s the Romulan’s and the Klingons that concern me more.”

She nodded, "We'll be ready for whatever comes." She replied, "If there's nothing else sir?"

“Dismissed, Captain. Get the Marines settled quickly. I don’t know when I’ll need to call on you.” Haversford said.

"Yes Sir, Thank you sir." She said snapping a salute before heading to the landing pad to help with the set of the marine camp.
