Mission: Mission 3: Diplomacy, what’s that?
Location: M'Mira's Office

{ON}

Having arrived aboard Faltan pretty late the previous evening Aeryn had decided to settle in and have a brief look around, rather than disturb her new CO at a late hour. She was actually feeling pretty nervous about being the Exec of a station on her first time out in the position. Ops she could cope with but she was nervous anyway. She straightened her uniform as she arrived at Commander M'Mira's office and pressed the chime.

The chime ringing startled M'Mira. She fell off of her desk, which she had been happily napping upon, but managed to land on her feet. Looking around, certain that nobody noticed, she gave a firm nod that had anyone seen it would have clearly indicated that "she meant to do that." Straightening herself up before her desk, she patted herself down, making sure that everything was in place. She looked at her nails, saw that none of them were chipped and smiled. Phew! Now, who dared to disturb my nap! "Come!" she called.

Walking into the office she smiled politely as she greeted the Caitian female. "Commander M'Mira, Lieutenant Commander Jameson your new Executive Officer reporting for duty ma'am." She handed over the PADD containing her transfer orders.

"New executive officerrr?" M'Mira growled in annoyance. "I just got one. Bolian. What happened to him?" M'Mira's tail flicked near the ground angrily. Just when she thought that Faltan was gaining some stability, here was another stick in the machinery. She started scouring the PADD for some sort of mistake.

"All I was told was that the Commander had been reassigned Ma'am" Aeryn studied her feline Commander closely. "I'm sorry that you weren't informed of the change."

M'Mira looked up at her new executive officer, her eyes widening at the apology. "Well," she huffed, "it was not yourrr fault." She tilted her head at a near parallel angle to her shoulders, inspecting the new XO. Her head then came back to sit squarely on her shoulders. "Are you parrrtially Vulcan or Rrromulan?" she asked with keen interest.

"Part Romulan, my other half is Betazoid." Aeryn offered a smile. "I'm the Foster daughter of Vulcan Admiral T'Par, he sponsored my entry into Starfleet."

More curious, M'Mira's tail swished from side to side at a higher level than before, more parallel to the ground. Again, her head tilted. "So, werrre you rrraised on logic? Orrr given a differrrent education?"

"Kind of a mix of both" Aeryn offered a grin. "My foster parents couldn't be more opposites, my mother is an a-typical Betazoid and my father is a totally logical Vulcan. He wanted me to learn what it meant to be Vulcan especially as I'm half Romulan, but my mother opposed his plans to have me purged of my emotions. They more or less agreed to disagree! Much to my father's disapproval."

"That sounds rrratherrr confusing, especially as agrrreing to disagrrree gave yourrr fosterrr motherrr herrr way." M'Mira blinked a few more times and asked, "So yourrr motherrr and yourrr fosterrr motherrr werrre both Betazoids?"

Aeryn nodded. “It’s a long story but my biological mother wasn’t a willing partner when she had me, she was a prisoner just doing what she had to do to survive. She got me to freedom at the cost of her own life. Her final request was that I be raised with a Betazoid family so I could learn my heritage.” She paused. “All I have of her is the data chip she sent with me. I have no idea who my father is, only that he’s Romulan.”

More curious, M'Mira asked, "What is on the data chip?"

Aeryn raised an eyebrow in more of a manner associated with Vulcans than part Romulans. “It was just an explanation of what happened to her and why she sent me to safety. She wanted to be sure I had the right family, she requested that at least one member of a foster family be a Betazoid.”

"I see," M'Mira responded, her head slowly tilting to the opposite side and her tail curling up behind her. "So, do you have full empathic abilities?"

"Yes ma'am" Aeryn nodded. "I'm also a line of sight & touch telepath. I know how to do Vulcan mind melds but I'm a novice where doing them is concerned."

"Then we will have to hope that we neverrr need to use them," the Caitian replied. Aeryn was interesting but small talk was starting to wear on M'Mira. She also wanted to discover what happened to her Bolian Executive Officer. She thought he was fairly efficient. How would this one be? Would she give her time for cat naps? Her fur bristled lightly. "Well, I suppose that you will be wanting to settle yourrrself in...."

"Actually I'd like to be getting on with my duties Commander. I have crew to meet and status reports to catch up on." Aeryn smiled warmly. "If you need me ma'am I'll either be about the station or in my office." She smiled warmly.

M'Mira's smile widened. "Verrry well. Get caught up. If Ziq is still herrre, you may wish to meet with him first. Dismissed."
