Mission: Mission 3: Diplomacy, what’s that?
Location: Faltan Station

Lieutenant Fitzgerald left his quarters and looked at the PADD that Commander Jameson had handed him, and followed the Map to the CO's office, after which he put the PADD in his pocket, He had a feeling he was going to need it, at least for the first few weeks. He looked up and rang the doorbell to the right of the door.

M'Mira was sitting in her office, happily going over all of her new recruits. Some of them even seemed to be competent, which would make her job eminently easier. She might keep this station open yet and prove to StarFleet that giving this place back to the Falteans would be a huge mistake. "Come," the Caitian purred.

Fitz walked through the door, and stood in front of the desk, "Lieutenant John Fitzgerald, reporting for duty, Commander," he said "I was ordered to report to you after I got settled in." Fitz then looked up, standing at attention.

"Ah!" replied the Caitiain, as her long, red painted nails came into view. "And so you have. Tell me, Misterrr Fitzerrrald, do you have any trrransferrr orrrderrrs?" Her tail swished impatiently.

Fitz pulled the other PADD out of his pocket, his transfer orders, and handed it to the Commander.

"You arrrre the young one, arrre you not?" M'Mira purred, interested. Her tail swished lazily in front of her and curled around her right leg. She looked up at the Flight Officer. "Tell me, Lieutenant, why would a flight officerrr want to come to a planetarrry station. It seems, what is the worrrd? Irrronic?"

"Yes, Commander, I am fairly young, in answer to your question, I enjoyed my tour on the Triton, but I needed something different, so I requested a transfer, I'm looking for a change of pace, something to challenge myself, as it were, I've had some personal things going on in the past few months," he said.

"Perrrsonal things?" M'Mira's voice trembled slightly. So, another person that needs to be reclaimed "Do you wish to discuss them?"

"I am recently divorced with a child, commander, they shouldn't interfere with my duties." he said, "I can assure you I'll see a counselor should I need any help, but I have been qualified for duty."

The Caitian's eyes narrowed. Divorce was nearly unheard of in their culture. To abandon one's family was unthinkable. "I should think that they would not. How old is yourrr cub? And what has happened to yourrr ex? Does she not carrre for yourrr cub?"

"As unfortunate as it is, she did indeed, commander, My daughter's about a year old now," he said, a hint of pain in his facial expression, "It was a very serious ordeal, but after working it out with several lawyers and a hell of a lot of counseling, I was cleared for active duty, and a custody arrangement was made. Kaylia stays with me for six months, and then goes back to Earth with her mother for the other six. I'll have her again at the beginning of the year." he told the Caitian, "I can have a full report of the events and legal details sent to you if you'd like more explanation."

"It is not an orrrderrr," the Caitian replied somewhat abashed. "It was a merrre currriosity." Her tail slunk downwards and rested near the floor. "Everrrything appearrrs to be in orrrderrr, so welcome aboarrrd," M'Mira told Fitzgerald. "Do you have any questions forrr me?"

"None at this time, commander, only that I'm excited to be here and back to work." he said, "I hope i can be a valuable asset to Faltan station."

"I hope so, as well," M'Mira responded, tail lazily swishing from side to side, her voice purring honestly. "Dismissed," she told him, hoping that she would be able to sneak in another cat nap.
