Mission: Mission 4 - Like a Thunderbolt
Location: FNS Newsroom on Faltan Station
Timeline: MD03 1800

The beautiful blonde almost felt badly about what she was about to do. However, feeling badly about anything never got her further in her career. That being said, she knew that M'Mira never should have been in charge. She may have been a crack Operations Officer but politics was not something the Caitian really knew how to handle. While M'Mira had longer peace on Faltan Station more than anyone, much of that was likely because the others plans were just taking time. The Caitian was harmless, but she was definitely unable to handle someone like that bitchy snake of a Faltan Governor Taga. So, what needed to be done, needed to be done, if for no other sake, than the sake of the Federation. Perhaps she would apologize later to M'Mira, if the Caitian did not decide to claw out her throat first.

The camera's turned on and Candy's large brown eyes appeared sorrowful. Her lips were made up to be full and pouting. Her blonde hair cascaded about her, covering the sides of her face masterfully. She had to admit that she enjoyed this part of the drama of her job.

"Good evening Federation, this is Federation News Reporter, Candy Templeton, bringing you the latest on the tragedy of Faltan Station. As my viewers may recall, there was a horrible attack on the planetary Faltan station. Today, I am bringing you the exclusive video of how that attack commenced. For those of you with sensitive stomachs or children of a young age, I advise you to turn your video off at this time."

A scene appeared behind Candy, it was 0930 and M'Mira could be seen walking towards the various ambassadors. A person materialized in the middle of the crowd. As he materialized, his skin started to blister and brown. Although he was in obvious pain, he screamed, "You! Invaders! Federation! Romulans! This is what you have wrought upon us! You destroy our world! You conquer us with this station and try to make us into you! No more! It ends now!"

There was a scream of horrific pain as large lumps started to form on the man. It was if he were bubbling from the inside out. His body started to steam and before anyone could approach the man, he exploded. Entrails, blood, and organs splattered against the floor, people, and instruments. No sooner than anyone was touched by any of the remains or blood, others started to show immediate signs of skin burns.

The scene scrolled back to M'Mira walking towards the Ambassadors and Candy narrated, "This conference was supposed to begin at 0930 hours and you can see Commander M'Mira walking towards the Ambassadors. One has to wonder why she was doing this. Did she know an attack was imminent? And why was someone permitted to beam into the conference? Should there not have been a shield around the conference center? If Commander M'Mira was not in league with the sabateurs, then she showed an immense amount of incompetence, allowing such a basic security protocol to go unheeded."

Dramatically, Candy threw back the left side of her hair behind her should by flicking her head to the left. "And if this was not Commander M'Mira's fault, what happened to security at this time? Should we be concerned that only a Junior Grade Lieutenant was in charge of such a large planetary station? Tomer Chaim was supposed to be in charge of security, yet he too failed on this basic protocol. How many are now dead because of either one of these two officers' neglect?

"While there are those who stand by Commander M'Mira and her competence, one has to wonder why. Certainly, there was more peace with the Falteans than ever before, however, people who M'Mira commanded either ended up dead or disappeared. After the attack, Executive Officer, Lieutenant Commander Aeryn Jameson was missing. Where was she during the attack? Also missing were: Chief Strategic Officer, Lieutenant Rohan Reed; Chief Flight Officer, Lieutenant John Fitzgerrrald; Chief Security Officer, Lieutenant Nealy Snowden; Chief Operations officer, Lieutenant Oliver Radrick; Chief Engineer, Lieutenant Commander Briegel Foster; Chief Science Officer, Lieutenant T'Lena; Chief Intelligence Officer, Lieutenant JG Natalia Parrino; and Chief Diplomatic Officer, Lieutenant JG Casshan Kincaid. Significant individuals that left during M'Mira's tenure were Reni Kozrehl, a replacement Chief Operations Officer for Oliver Radrick; and former Chief Security Office, Phelan Zhaan. I am certain that the list is more numerous, however this broadcast is limited, as well.

In short, this is yet more mismanagement of the Falteans and Faltan Station since the Federation came back. Now, the Federation is out of control of the planetary station and is relegated to its new Starbase from where I am reporting. However, with this apparent lack of strong commanding officers, the Falteans, Union, and Raeya may be emboldened to throw off the yoke of any Federation assistance, losing the Federation a strong strategic point in the galaxy. This has been Candy Templeton reporting."

The lights went out and Candy heaved a huge sigh. She was going to have to have someone bring her a tall drink tonight.
