The door to the Chief Strategic Operations Officer's office was ahead. Lieutenant Theodore "Theo" Ashford paused outside, gave his uniform a quick tug, his hair a tussle, and pressed the chime.
A moment later, the door opened, and he stepped through with an easy stride, a genuine smile already on his face.
His eyes landed on the officer inside, and Theo came to a relaxed stop a couple paces in, hands at his sides.
"Lieutenant Serra," he said, voice warm and upbeat. "Theo Ashford, your new Chief Operations Officer. Thought I would drop in and introduce myself properly instead of just showing up on the duty roster."
He gave a small nod, still with a relaxed smile, waiting for Lt. Serra's reply.
"Oh! Hello, nice to meet you once more. That was quite the party don't you think?" Kaylee giving a nod. "Please have a seat. I am sorry I hadn't taken the time to properly converse with you." The flaxen haired officer said with a smile.
Theo’s smile widened as he stepped forward and eased into the offered seat with a relaxed ease. “It really was a great party,” he said warmly. “I think everyone needed the chance to let off a little steam. And please, no apology necessary — these things get hectic fast. I’m just glad we’re finally getting the chance to sit down and talk properly. It’s good to meet you face to face, Lieutenant Serra.”
Kaylee gave a nod. "Would you like a drink? Tea, juice or Raktajino?" rising up from her chair to go to the replicator. She'd not gotten her preferred equipment. Old fashioned style.
Theo smiled warmly and gave a small nod as she stood.
"Raktajino sounds perfect, thanks. I could use the kick after that party." He eased back in the chair, one ankle resting over the opposite knee in a relaxed posture. His eyes followed her to the replicator with quiet interest. "Old fashioned style, huh? I like it. Gives the office more character then the standard sleek ones most people use."
Theodore kept the easy grin, voice friendly but turning a touch more professional as he continued.
"Speaking of which... how do you usually like to coordinate between Strategic Ops and regular Operations on things like sensor priority shifts or intel handoffs from patrols? I'd like to get those routines locked in early so were not duplicating work or missing anything."
"Actually, what I have been doing is checking with the incoming ships, talking with the captains coordinating the flow of supplies, I don't think there will be much worry about what we do will clash." Kaylee giving a smile.
Theo gave a short laugh and nodded, still relaxed in the chair.
He took the raktajino with a grateful nod and sipped.
“Appreciate it. Hits just right.”
A small pause.
“Anything else you’re already running that I should just support and stay out of the way of?”
Kaylee raised an eyebrow at his question.
"Lieutenant Ashford or may I just call you, Ashford. When it comes to running the statons operations, how about we learn each others flow as to how we do things. "
Kaylee looked at him with a sharp gaze. "Also, lets consider this more of a getting to know each other, outside of this office. I'm actually wanting to get some lunch and take a break."
Rising from her chair, and coming out from behind her desk
Granted she had just gotten him some tea but. she'd rather not stay inside the office.
Theo’s brow ticked up... then he gave a short huff of a laugh and stood, grabbing the raktajino.
“Ashford’s fine... Theo if we’re off the clock.” He nodded toward the door. “Learning the flow as we go... yeah. That works.”
He took a sip, already moving with her.
“Lunch it is... I’m not sitting in here if you’re not. Lead the way.”
With a nod, Kaylee stepped out of her office, it was a good time to lunch.
