| Personal History | Paulenna was born 2361, the third child of Aron of Alphacentauri and Estera of Betazed. Aron was a Starfleet officer and Estera was a bureaucrat on Betazed. The children were raised mostly on Betazed, other than several short stints on stations when their father was posted there. When the children were reaching their early teens Aron Sallem retired and returned to Betazed to settle down with the rest of his family. Unlike her two older siblings Paulenna always knew she wanted to join Starfleet like her father. As a teenager she grew much closer with her father her older brother was already away at University and her sister head moved across the planet to join the police force in one of Betazeds major urban centres. In 2379 she attended the Academy, wanting to fly but finding the CONN station of a starship rather dull she joined the Marine Corps as a pilot. In 2383 as a Second Lieutenant she was posted to the USS Arc Royal, a Galaxy-class carrier variant at the centre of Carrier Battle Group. The Arc Royal CBG was posted to Romulan Boarder immediately following the Shinzon Incident. 18 months in the assignment she was promoted to First Lieutenant, serving as an element leader in Marine Fighter Squadron 116 aboard the Arc Royal. In 2387 following a particular nasty skirmish with a rouge Reman faction she was promoted to Captain and transferred to serve as a Flight Leader with the 227 Marine Fighter Squadron based on New Aberdeen Colony. Two weeks later the Hobus star went nova. New Aberdeen was a lush and rocky, much like it's namesake country of Scotland, most of the settlements were in the highlands as the low lands were prone to flooding in the spring. The planet, less then 50 light year from the Federation boarder was for the most part a safe place, however the proximity of the Gorn meant they had their share of incidents. The 227th was the main defence force for the colony of about 3 million. In 2389 Captain Sallem was reassigned to Faltan station as part of the restanding up of the Starfleet base there. |
