Mission: Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Captain’s Lounge, Command Deck, Falton Station
Timeline: MD02 - 0700 Hours

Harry had spent most of the night trying console Junior. He had been miserable since they left home a few days earlier and now he didn’t want to sleep. Paloma was exhausted so Harry offered to have him over night to let her get some rest. Harry believed he was teething as both Paloma and her brother were both earlier teethers. He had been up most of the night with him and decided he didn’t want to disturb Mint so he decided to go to his office.

The last time Harry looked at time it was 0430 hours and Junior was exhausted but continued to fight it. He laid down on the sofa with Junior on his chest and wrestled him to sleep he soon he went Harry dropped off to sleep as well.

Still feeling like she could sleep for hours, Mint walked into Harry's office with their now customary morning coffees. She saw him laying on the couch with his grandson on his chest and her heart skipped a beat. Carefully, so as not to wake the sleeping babe, she placed the coffees down on Harry's desk. She then made her way over to the replicator and requested a blanket. Soft, fleecy blanket in hand, she went over to the couch and carefully draped it over the two sleeping forms, then gently kissed Harry's forehead before heading for the desk to grab her own coffee. The morning brief over coffee could wait, she decided.

Harry stirred as he felt himself being covered up. He slowly opened his eyes and saw Mint standing over them, he gave her a small smile. “What time is it?” He whispered quietly not wanting to wake Junior up.

"Seven hundred," Mint whispered, looking down at the toddler and smiling. "Stay there, get more sleep. I'll divert all traffic to my office for a while."

“It’s fine.” Harry whispered as he slowly moved Junior into his arms as he slowly sat up. “I’ll put him in his crib. He’s exhausted.” He added as he slowly stood up and moved across his office to the small mobile crib Harry had put up incase of such an instance.

Shaking her head, she still smiled at him. "You look exhausted," she pointed out. "You need your sleep as much as he does," she said, moving to Harry's side. "I can handle a morning of running the station without you, I did do so for what? A week, or was it two? The days are kind of blurring together," she smirked and shrugged.

“A week.” Harry replied with a smile. “Only if you’re sure, I don’t want to be taking advantage of the situation.”

Mint shook her head. "Of course I'm sure, Harry," she stood on the tips of her toes and kissed him on the cheek. Dropping back down to being flat on her feet, she smiled at him. "I'll wake you in two hours, unless something major happens."

“Or if Junior here, has any other plans to scream the place down.” Harry replied with a smirk. “Any plans for this evening?”

Mint tilted her head to the side a little as she looked down at the sleeping toddler. Then Harry's question registered. "Hmm? Not really. Probably spend most of it clearing my backlog of reports..."

“Come and have dinner with us. You can stay the night, as long as you don’t mind Junior screaming.” Harry said with a smirk.

Mint chuckled and shook her head. "No, you haven't seen them in a while," she smiled almost sadly at this. "Spend some time with them, catch up. Besides, I'm just next door if you really want to bug me." She wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug. "And I get to come bug you all day if I really want to."

Harry returned the hug and pulled her in a little closer. “Please, I want you to get to know Paloma and Horatio. It would mean a lot to me.”

"Mmm... it's hard to resist your pouty face," she teased, looking up at him with a playful smile. "Alright, I will come for dinner, but I'm not promising I'll stay the night. You should have time with them without me there too," she conceded. "There'll be plenty of time for me to get to know them before they have to leave."

“That’s fine. I want...” Refelian paused as he thought for a moment. “I need you to get on with Paloma. My relationship with my son has been strained for years but Paloma is still there and I want here to be. Especially now they have little Horatio too.” A small grin grew across his face. “He was named after me you know.” He waggled his eye brows playfully.

Mint giggled. "If you think that needed to be pointed out, you really need more sleep," she said softly before kissing him. "And I will do my best to get along with Paloma. I think it's going to be awkward between us for a while though, us being the same age and all." She sighed and shook her head. "And well, first impressions were quite interesting. But, now is not the time to think of all this. You need more sleep and reports need reading. Come on, back to the couch with you. I'd send you back to bed, but well, I don't know if Paloma would be ok with me watching Junior while the two of you caught up on sleep..."

“Perhaps not.” Harry said with a small laugh. “Maybe small steps to begin with. Alright I’ll head back to the couch. Hopefully mister won’t need a feed for a while.” He said as he moved slowly back to the couch.

Mint followed him back and covered him with the blanket again after he'd laid down. "Alright, I'll be back around 0930," she kissed him on the forehead, then lips. "Try to sleep."

He kissed her back and smiled, “I’ll see you in a couple of hours.”

After one final kiss, Mint walked out of Harry's office, hoping he would actually get some sleep. She moved quietly so as to not wake the baby. Once outside his doors, she used her command code to lock his doors and let the yeoman know Harry was not to be disturbed until she returned.
