Mission:
Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Catrina's Quarters
Timeline: MD03 - 1500 Hours
Rubbing the back of her neck, Catrina had made her way back to her quarters to get ready for the ceremony..party..whatever it was. She was exhausted from climbing up on ladders and then back down. But, there was still the reason that this was all done, and she had to get ready for it. That meant cleaning up.
Hitting her code to get into her quarters, she stepped inside and tossed a PADD onto her desk. Her eyes lingered over to her balcony and held there for a while. How many days had it been since she saw Sarah there? She'd lost track at this point. She'd focused so much on her work that she had done her best to push that away. But it hadn't worked. Focusing on work would only do so much.
Letting out a heavy sigh, Cat undid her uniform jacket, debating on something. Finally, as she tossed the jacket onto her bed, "Computer, begin secure message. Save message until I unlock the file, no delivery destination at this time." The computer gave it's normal acknowledgement before she started.
"I'm not one to normally do this, but it's the best way to get my thoughts out. Maybe sometime you'll hear this, maybe you won't." She let out a sad sigh as she went digging for her dress uniform. "Right now, you're missing, Sarah. And I'm having trouble keeping it together. I've gotten so lost in my work, that I try to push the emotions away. Keep trying to reach you, but the computer tells me the same thing over and over again. Unable to locate signal. It brings me to tears every time I hear it."
She went over and splashed some cool water on her face, cleaning it up before realizing she had to make herself look presentable. But, she continued. "Five days. That's how long it's been since I saw you, since you spent the night here. I saw you over on the balcony, thought you were a hologram. Turned out you weren't." Pulling her red hair back, she looked herself over in the mirror before going back away from the sink.
"What I wouldn't give to have you back here, Sarah. I broke down last night, and Mint found me. I was down where we first saw each other, thinking maybe the station's com systems could find you instead of my little projector here. I...I realized something while I was down there, while she and I were talking." Catrina pulled her dress uniform jacket out of her wardrobe and set it on the bed before sitting down, grabbing her pillow to hold onto. "I love you, Sarah. I don't give a damn how long we've known each other...I just know what my heart is telling me. I love you."
Closing her eyes as a few tears went down her cheek, she shook her head. "Computer, save message." The acknowledgment beep came again and she wiped the tears away before squeezing the pillow. Come on Cat, put on your brave face. Would she want you doing all this, the crying?" Knowing the answer to the question before she even finished asking it, she wiped the last of the stray tears away and went to finish getting herself ready, having to redo her makeup...again.
