Mission: Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Captain’s Lounge, Command Deck, Faltan Station
Timeline: MD04 - 1830

After all her talking during the previous few hours between her meetings and reporting the situation to Starfleet, Mint really wanted to just sit in silence. However, the rest of the station's crew needed to know what had happened. She sat on the floor, hugging Laddie as she thought about what to say, how to say it, and about Refelian in general. Her shoulder was throbbing and it hurt to lift her arm, but she knew the injury was already healed. 'Phantom pain?' she wondered. It was a thing, but usually when people lost limbs. So far she hadn't lost one, thankfully.

Finally, she stood, careful not to disturb Laddie who was now sleeping on the floor beside her. She began to pace the room again. "Computer, record message," she called out and waited for the computer to reply, then started in on her message. "Good evening Faltan station crew, this is your Executive Officer, Commander Abigail Prescott. It is my unfortunate duty to relay some bad news to you. This afternoon, during a meeting with the Faltan Government, Captain Refelian was shot. He is currently in critical condition, Doctor Aereen assures me she is doing all she can for him, but his prognosis is still undetermined. As of 1700 tonight, I have followed Emergency Protocols and assumed command of the station as Acting Commanding Officer. Lieutenant Commander M'Mira will be Acting Executive Officer in the interim.

Currently, we have been locked out of Faltan City and are unable to complete an investigation of our own. However, I will be working with our Diplomatic Corps to resolve this issue and gain access to the Faltan's investigation. This is not ideal, but unfortunately, it is our reality. Please, continue to keep Captain Refelian in your thoughts as you go about your duties.

Thank you." She paused both her speech and movement. "Computer save and play message back."

"Message saved. Replaying saved message."

As her voice filled the office, Mint shuddered. Once she sent out this message, it would be official. She would be Acting Commanding Officer in the eyes of the crew. She just hoped that she and M'Mira were up to the task. "Computer, send recorded message to all station crew, civilians, and ambassadors."

"Acknowledged. Message sent to all station crew, civilians, and ambassadors."

Mint sank down onto a couch and cried for the first time since everything kicked off. She knew Refelian was going to be fine, she knew that everything would work out, somehow. But right now, she was scared, angry at herself for lying to her friends so casually, hurt that she had to lie to M'Mira. She hoped that M'Mira would forgive her, that she would understand why she'd lied. Mint was trying desperately to make sure everyone was safe and maybe she was being a little paranoid, but she was adamant the Faltans were going to try to attack the station. She hoped by the deceit she could throw them off, that she could somehow buy time to figure out what the overall plan was.
