Mission: Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Captain’s Lounge, Command Deck, Faltan Station
Timeline: MD05 - 1115

”Commander Prescott, theres a hail from the Faltan Captial for you, ma’am.” Came the Captain’s Yeomans voice over the comm.

"Patch it into the Captain's Lounge," Mint replied after hitting the comm button. She then turned to the console, wondering who was calling her this time.

“Commander Prescott, your actions against the Faltan people could lead us to war! How dare you order such a sickening attack on a peaceful people!” Taga said angrily towards the Starfleet Commander.

"Excuse me Deputy Governor, but I have no clue what you are talking about. Mind backing up and explaining what you're going on about?" Mint tried to keep her voice level, though her heart was racing at the sudden adrenaline rush from being verbally accosted.

“Governor Tizd was found dead this morning. Killed by one of your Starfleet phasers. The killer left the weapon behind.” Taga said angrily. “The Faltan Government had nothing to do with attempt on your Captain’s life yet you choose to take revenge!”

"We have done no such thing!" Mint lost her ability to keep level, anger at being accused of something such as this boiling over. "All of our people have stayed on Station grounds, as our agreement with your people demands we do. The worst you can say of us at this moment is that we are harassing you for information regarding the investigation, if you are actually doing one, into the shooting of our Captain.

The weaponry used to shoot our Captain, and the location of the incident, could point directly at your Government, but do you see us pointing fingers and demanding your heads? No. We have not blamed your government, nor even your people. We are waiting, impatiently yes, but still waiting for you to investigate. Just because a Starfleet phaser was left at the scene does not mean it was one of our people. I will look into this matter, and until I give you the results of our investigation, I will appreciate you not jumping to conclusions!"

“Of course we have taken your Captain’s shooting seriously but the Governor’s death has meant we have pulled people from that investigation to investigate the Governor’s death.” The new Governor said. “But a Starfleet phaser at the scene of the crime means we will be looking at the only Starfleet installation on Faltan. It just seems very convenient that your Captain was shot then our Governor is murdered. It wouldn’t surprise me if you had your own Captain shot just to kill our Governor.”

"How dare you!" Mint practically yelled, startling poor Laddie who'd been asleep in his bed. "I have enough to deal with here on my station, I don't need you accusing me or my people of such nefarious plots! Not only has my Captain been shot and is hanging on a thread, but now terrorists have destroyed an embassy that was being built and potentially killed the Romulan Ambassador's wife. We will investigate where this phaser came from, but you and your people will not step one foot on this station's land. I will call you should any developments arise, but until then, I'll thank you to stop accusing us of any crimes. We are attempting to maintain peace in this sector, whether your people believe that or not is of no consequence to me. Now unless you have any information to provide aside from underhanded threats and accusations, I'm afraid I must end this conversation and attend to station matters."

Dreyem smirked, “Perhaps Starfleet can’t handle it here any more. Perhaps you should pack up that station of yours for good and leave.”

"You'd like that, wouldn't you?" Mint now smirked herself. "However, there's little chance of that happening. You see, if we fail, the higher ups won't just go 'oh well' and close the station. No, they'll send in their backups, the people who do like to use force to get what they want. We're here to prevent that. The Federation doesn't want your planet, but they do want to protect you from the evils out there. Me? I say if you want the Klingons or Romulans to come instead of us. You can have them. But good luck with surviving their version of colonization."

“Yes, we would like you to leave. Faltan can stand for itself, we did for so long without Starfleet’s help.” Taga said aggressively.

"I have my orders to be here as a peaceful presence," Mint said, taking all anger away from her voice. "And I shall not seek a court marshall by disobeying my orders simply because you do not want us here. My people will investigate where this Starfleet phaser came from. Good day Deputy Governor," she refused to call the vile woman 'Governor' whether she was officially or not. Before the other woman could respond, Mint cut the comm feed and leaned back in her chair. She let out a frustrated growl before getting up and stalking out of the room. She wanted a good, stiff drink, but instead she was going to go find a peice of machinery she could beat into submission.
