Mission: Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Orbit of Faltan
Timeline: MD08 - 0634

Not far from the Shrike-class cruiser ISV Kaiell, which still lurked for action in orbit, weapons and shields powered up fully, a piece of space blurred and became a de-cloaking Valdore-Norexan-class warbird. Its weapons were powered up and the shields raised immediately after de-cloaking had been finished.

A message was broadcasted on all frequencies. 'This is the Tal Shiar. Anyone who is stupid enough to attack us will be destroyed without mercy. Anyone who attempts to leave this planet without our approval will be stopped at all costs. Any refusal of co-operation will receive a proper response.'

In the command chair of the Tal Shiar warbird sat an older Romulan woman. Colonel Sianna t'Matas was a veteran of the agency and had a reputation of being efficient. Her specialty was to uncover political plotting. Now she had been ordered to assist Senator thu'S'Terion in his investigations. And the case involved a cousin of the agency's chairperson. It was clear to Sianna that she had to unravel everything that was behind this seemingly obvious case, or her career would be over.

"Hail the Kaiell," she ordered.

"The channel is open."

"On screen." To Sianna's surprise, she looked right into Telhas' face.

Telhas showed no emotion. "Good morning, Colonel. I have been expecting you."

Sianna bowed her head. "Senator, my condolence."

"I am not sure if this is needed," Telhas said and explained. "We have no proof of my wife's death. We are rather convinced that she may still be alive and possibly abducted for any reason."

It took a moment for Sianna to process the new information. "I will find her. And the reason for all this." She took a deep breath. What came now was something she never experienced throughout her career and so odd that she wondered how powerful the man in the screen was. "Senator, by General Sonara T'Daran's orders I, my crew, and my ship, are hereby under your command for the duration of the investigations concerning the bombing of your embassy and the... disappearance of Lady Nevala thu'S'Terion, your wife."

Telhas nodded. "Acknowledged. Knight Commander Maiek tr'Sahen of my Kae'raktar Regiment will beam over to your ship and update you on the most recent results."

"I understand," Sianna replied, "Orders?"

"You are free to do whatever is necessary to solve the case," Telhas said sternly, "With the constraint to avoid everything that may start a war with the Federation."

Sianna nodded and terminated the connection. Everything that was necessary for the moment had been said.

"Hail Faltan Station."

"Frequencies open."

"Faltan Station, this is Colonel Sianna t'Matas of the Tal Shiar. We need to talk."

M'Mira accepted the hail and put on the viewscreen. Romulans, Romulans everywhere. What are we going to do? "This is Commanderrr M'Mirrra of the Federation Faltan Station. How may we be of assistance?"

Having heard that a new ship had arrived, Mint made her way down to the Ops hub. She walked in just in time to hear 'Tal Shiar' and stifled a groan. As if they didn't have enough problems, now they had yet another strong-willed, though more apt to attempt to take over, group with their hands in the pot of this mess. Hearing M'Mira respond, Mint stayed just out of view to all but M'Mira, watching her friend for a moment.

"We need all results of your investigation concerning the attack on the Romulan embassy. In addition, if you can provide raw data of your scans of the surroundings of your station from one hour before to one hour after the attack, we want these too. Finally, if you have any intelligence about Faltan's government, criminals on Faltan or, simply spoken, anything on Faltan which may be useful," Sianna grinned, "You know what I want, don't you?"

Now, Mint stepped forward, narrowing her eyes at the person on the screen. "Senator thu'S'Terion already has full access to our investigation, we have been openly working with his personnel," she said, angered by this woman making such demands as though they were hiding things. "Currently we have no intelligence aside from what we've already supplied to the Senator on the Faltans. While I know what you want, I do not have it to give to you."

Sianna needed a moment to consider the information. "I am here for his support anyway. We will contact you if we may need anything more. Jolan'tru." She terminated the communication.

M'Mira was glad that Mint had stepped forward. M'Mira knew she was there from her stinky scent. She dared not mention it while Mint and M'Mira were on duty, even in jest. Furthermore, had M'Mira been handling the situation, she was pretty sure that she would have told the Romulans where to go and what to do and neither would have been met with great enthusiasm by the Romulans. Also, the fact that M'Mira was the last one to see the Romulan Ambassador's wife alive probably would not have helped.

"Hail the governor of Faltan," Sianna commanded and as soon as the channel was open, she started to speak. "Governor, this is Colonel Sianna t'Matas of the Tal Shiar. We need access to your databases."

”This is Governor Taga, how may I be of assistance?” The Governor said resisting the urge for a sarcastic comment.

"I already stated how you may be of assistance," Sianna snarled, "What is your answer?"

”I’m sorry, Colonel, I think I miss heard you, you want access to our database?” The Governor said, unimpressed by the Romulans demanding tone.

"You... how dare you!" Sianna shouted. "You heard me quite well! Now get me access to your database. We are the Tal Shiar! Do you really want to enrage us?"

”Why should we give you access to our database? There is no reason whatsoever, in fact I’m not entirely sure why you are contact us any way. I’ve made our position quite clear to the Ambassador fellow. Leave us alone.” Dreyem replied, sternly.

Sianna's voice became sweet. "So kind of you that you confess there's something you want to hide about your involvement in this case. You made my day!" She laughed, then continued with a threatening tone "I will find your secrets, I will find out all traces leading to you in this case, and I'll be here once the Senate decides that there's enough evidence to consider your involvement an act of war. It's long ago since I fired some weapons of mass destruction on a planet. I'm looking forward to this." Her voice became sweet again. "Enjoy your days, Governor. Every day may be your last." With that, she terminated the transmission.

"Assemble a team to extract their database," she commanded her executive officer, "And also get me some samples of the Faltan's DNA. We may need it to develop a tailored biological weapon for them. But first, we need enough proof for the Senate. Get me their databases!"
