Mission: Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Medical Hub
Timeline: MD01 - 17:00

Doctor Aereen was looking for a cat, well rather the Caitian Operations Officer for Faltan, unfortunately internal sensors around the base weren't operating yet so the computer was no help. She was heading for the Operation building figuring everyone's department was as much as a mess as hers.

Environmental operations, luckily for the Doctor, was on the first floor of the Operations Department. Individuals were scurrying in every direction, shouting instructions at other individuals. To the side, at one of the relay junctions, stood a petite fury body facing the internal circuitry. A tail swished from side to side as the figure held a laser welder to the panel. Before the Doctor could get all the way to M'Mira, she called backwards, "You're not a member of my team. You smell like Starfleet though. What can I do for you?"

"Doctor Calista Aereen, CMO. We've got a bit of a problem in the medical hub. We we're testing the back up generators to see if there were working, the system switched over and the generators promptly failed. The system however now won't switch back to the bases primary power. Would you be able to spare someone to lend us a hand?" She asked.

M'Mira turned around and faced the Doctor. Her whiskers twitched, irritated. Her nails on her claws were painted red with silver designs on them. "Everyone here is rather busy," she purred. "However, I will come with you, Doctorrrr. It would not do to have medical on the frrritz. Lead the way, please."

Calista nodded and lead the way back to the medical hub. As they entered the main doors on the first level the area was much as it had been when Calista left. Most of the main receiving area had been cleaned, a number of large emergency lights had been brought in to help until power was back. The few gold-collared operations personnel where working on the main power conduit but it seemed main power was still down. "From what we've found the backup generators were pretty damaged, it looks like there was some flooding of the lower level at some point during the inactive phase, but we can't do much without main power so if you can get that back on for us it would be appreciated."

"Flooding?" M'Mira sighed. "I suppose that we should check if there's sufficient currrrrent rrrunning through the cables, first." She went to a dusty equipment panel, blew some of the dust away, causing her to cough. Her red nails on her claws spread out as she tried to paw away the circling particles. Gingerly, she opened the panel and inspected the tools, finally pulling out a sub micron scanner. "Let's see how much power we have here."

The dozen or so seconds that M'Mira scanned seemed to stretch for hours. Annoyed, she growled. "Seems that a couple of power cells are out and the force fields that should have kept out the water failed some time ago. We'rrre going to have to replace them. If you do not mind getting a bit dirrrty, we could get your power back on as soon as I rrrretrieve the parrts."

She inspected the Doctor for the first time. Trill. Cute, but not too cute. No threat. M'Mira's tail swished around while waiting for an answer.

"I had to perform an emergency c-section on a Alkarrian once, trust me I'm used to getting dirty in my line of work." Calista replied.

"I'm not," M'Mira admitted, wrinkling her face, making her whiskers move from side to side in disgust. "But, I also was looking for a change of scenery from starships. Guess I got it, rrright?" She chortled at herself. "Wait right there. I will be back in a few minutes."

Calista used the time to check in with the crews, there wasn't a lot that could be done without the power on, but the immediate are area was almost done being cleaned.

Her hands full, and her eyes barely peeking above a stack of materials, the diminutive Caitan returned. "Let's set these down in a clean spot. Can you dirrect me? Then we can crawl under the panels and replace the powers cells."

Calista lead her to a nearby station that was cleaned and flat and helped her to unload the equipment. "I admit I was never particularly handy with the technical stuff but whatever I can do I'm happy to help."

"I aprrreciate that," M'Mira replied, her 'r's coming out rolled in typical purring fashion, "You can make sure that I get the equipment I need when I'm down in that mess." She shuddered involuntarily at having to go into such a such a dank place.

M'Mira moved to what appeared to be a clean chair, inspected it closely, swatted it a few times with a towel she had brought with her supplies, carefully placed one side of the towel down, and then sat on it, her tail waving slightly distressed. She took off her shoes, revealing her delicate hind paws and claws. They, too, were painted red. She explained in a slightly perturbed tone, "I will get better footing inside, like this. Not my preferrrred way of doing maintenance...."

She then took a power pack and asked, "Do you know your basic tools? If not, I can describe them for you when I call for them. Also, while I'm doing the rrreplacements, you can tell me why you decided to come here. I would not think this would be interrresting for Trrrrill." Not waiting for a response, M'Mira sprung forth, she quickly disappeared inside the panel with the power pack.

"I can probably handle the basics," she said staring at the tool kit, about half of them look familiar from her basic engineering courses back at the academy, luckily some of the medical studying crossed over and she could name most of them.

"That is good. I should not need much more than that," M'Mira called back, the tip of her tail barely visible. She growled lightly as she did her work. With her back paw, she reached out from the panel, holding a burned out power pack. "Could you exchange this for a sonic driver, please?"

Calista grabbed the tool and took the one from M'Mira's hind paw before putting the sonic driver in it's place. "So why did you choose this posting?"

After taking the sonic driver in her hind paw, she flexibly moved it forward into her front paw and started her work. "The same reason I took all my other postings. I was bored of the last one," she cooed. "I am going to need you to move into the panel opening. I have to move inside further for the second. New power pack, prrrretty please."

Calista moved into the opening and handed the feline the power pack. "Guess that's a good of reason as any, similar to mine, my last posting basically ran core world ferry and had a constant stream of cadets aboard. It was nice from a teaching standpoint but I missed the frontier so to speak."

M'Mira took the second power pack in her hind paw and Calista could see how deftly the Caitan moved it from her rear to her front. She was remarkably flexible. "Not much frontier here. Just one planet that we are stuck on. But, I look on the brrright side. Once I get this place in order, therrrre will be plenty of time for naps." She chuckled pleasantly. "I have found that there are some verrry nice places for naps once they are clean."

She wiggled around inside the tight area and flipped about to face Calista. "Alright," she said handing another dead power pack to Calista. "Now, all I need is the quantum flex regulator and I could reset the power to the force fields and we should be back in business."

She handed her the equipment and tried to see what she was doing. “So this should get main power back on?”

While Calista was asking the question, M'Mira had already started taking the regulator to the force field. A small spark of energy came into existence and just as if on cue, Calista's question was answered: the lights and systems came back to life. "Ahhhhh." M'Mira sighed. "We should probably wiggle out of herrre now." She started climbing on the wall sides to make her way out, her claws clinging when necessary to make sure she did not fall down.

"Alright everyone main power is back so get back to work." Aeeren said loudly and the medical teams jumped back to work. "Thank you Commander." She said turning to the Ops Chief. "I believe we will leave any further repairs to the back up power system to your department when you can get to it. Hopefully we don't need it any time soon."

"You'rrre welcome. Unfortunately, I do believe that you will need engineering or ops again. This place seems put togetherrrr with twine. Perrrrhaps I will have adequate staff and supplies soon enough to make sure that this station can rrrrun itself soon. Then, perrrhaps we can have lunch?"

"Sure that would be great, and thank you again, but if you'll excuse me I have a ton of work to get done." She said with a smile before turning to head back to work.
