Mission: Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Desert near Tesyn / ISV Kaiell
Timeline: MD09 - 1543

After his stay in Tesyn, Telhas had returned to the desert for meditation. He had to do this. After taking that priest's entire mind away, he felt a dark euphoria fill his own mind. He heard the voice whisper that told him to continue and subjugate them all, whomever he would meet. He felt that he had been too close to Ket-Cheleb at that moment, when he destroyed the priest's existence and left a living wreck. He did enjoy it. He felt so extremely powerful. So invincible. He was close to do control the villagers like puppets. He thought of letting them fight each other just for his own entertainment. His hatred had made him strong. But he had been able to stop after he had finished the priest's mind, although it had been difficult. Now, after a few hours of meditation, he had the feeling that he had his hatred under control. He had the feeling that he was in control of himself again. Ket-Cheleb's voice was still strong in his soul, but at least he could hear the other gods again. A few hours more and he could continue his search for Nevala. How could he have forgotten?

But his inner peace was disturbed without warning, when his surroundings drowned in green light and changed into the view of the Kaiell's transporter room. "What?" Telhas shouted, both vocal and telepathic.

The crew held their heads, but then Knight Commander Maiek entered the room. "Mylord, we need you here. We have news. And Colonel Sianna t'Matas wants to talk to you."

"I want the news first," Telhas said angrily.

"In your quarters. Watch it, then we can talk." They left the transporter room and while they were walking, Telhas noticed that the crew looked at him fearful as they saluted. Maiek could read his lord's expression. "How can you be surprised that they are afraid of you? You have been unpredictable in recent days. Your telepathic attacks cause fear."

"How dare you?" Telhas yelled, but refrained from adding his telepathy this time. For the first time in the last days he perceived that he was about to use it. And for the first time it came to his mind that his guards had no defense for this, just as the people in the village. "I... I..." his voice became low and he could not say that he was sorry. "I..."

Maiek nodded. "No need to say that. But please, be the good lord again. The one who inspired his guards. Stop being the one who frightens them."

Telhas nodded thoughtfully. They reached his quarters, and Maiek put Colonel Sianna's message on the screen. It was simply the recording of Victoria Saracenti on the bridge of the IRW D'Tarex. He watched it, calmly, without saying a word. He had to admit that the Colonel was tough. He would not have expected her to talk to Vic in that manner, most would not. He rewound the recording to a certain point.

"I will give you Nevala in a week or so back, no harm is done what so ever...only demand. Tell that hot head of an ambassador to calm down and you and your ship go home to stay out to stay out of Raeya Block affairs." Vic said.

He played it again. And again. Then he hailed the D'Tarex.

"Where in the elements' name have you been?" Sianna asked.

"Not your business," Telhas said. "Did you talk to General T'Daran already?"

"Yes, and she said it's your choice." Sianna looked at him inquiringly. "So?"

"You are free to leave." Telhas said hoarsely.

Sianna leaned forward in her chair. "Pardon me?"

"You mean 'Pardon me, Lord Telhas', do you not?" Telhas spoke up.

Sianna frowned. "Of course, my Lord."

Telhas looked at her for a while, without a sign of emotion. Then he ordered her with his firmest voice "Leave. I order you to leave this system! Get yourself new orders by the Tal Shiar, but do not return to this system. Jolan'tru, Colonel, and thank you for your valuable assistance."

Sianna nodded and the screen went black.

"You are well, Mylord?" Maiek asked with a hint of sorrow.

"No," Telhas simply replied, "but this matters not. Open a channel to the ISW Ket-Cheleb."

"Yes, Mylord."

The face of Knight Commander Alidar R'Mor appeared on the screen. The grey-haired experienced commander of his House Guards bowed and waited for Telhas to start talking.

"Sir Alidar, you are at Artaleirh and collect my troops?" Telhas asked.

"Yes, Lord Telhas. The first two battalions of the Kae'raktar Regiment are already on board. You have new orders?"

"Indeed I have," Telhas said calmly. "I want the second company of the Reman Battalion on board. And a combat platoon of the Cheleb-Khor Regiment."

"Cheleb-Khor regiment is not ready for action yet," Alidar protested.

"This is not your choice. The most advanced platoon shall board the Ket-Cheleb."

Alidar bowed. "Of course, Mylord. Anything else?"

"Yes. Get the ra-de'kutha from the entrance to my audience room and the ra-de'kutha from the temple on board. I will need them here. Talk with my cousin Khoren, he knows what I mean. And do not touch them, it would be a bad idea."

"I do not understand, Mylord?"

Telhas nodded. "I know. Just fulfill my orders. Any questions?"

"This will delay us by a day," Alidar stated.

"Totally acceptable. See you in a week then." Telhas terminated the transmission.

"Really, the Vulcan outcast?" Maiek asked, not even trying to hide his disappointment.

"Exactly them." Telhas held his hands appeasing. "I know, they have difficulties controlling their emotions. They are unlogical. But the Cheleb-Khor Regiment are loyal. I gave them a task. I accept them as they are. And I am responsible to show them how they can live with their emotions, without being controlled by them."

Maiek smiled sarcastically. "Please forgive me if I cannot share your optimism. They are unpredictable."

"Our greatest advantage at this moment," Telhas said thoughtfully. He hoped that Sir Maiek's and Sir Alidar's concerns were unjustified.
