1,034 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Command & Control / Hangar
Timeline: MD03 - 1845 Hours

Anika had been left in charge of Command & Control during the ceremony. Although she had hidden it from M’Mira, there was a smirk on her face. She wasn’t sure she’d ever be trusted enough, but was beyond happy that she was. She’d gotten word from Eveline that she could get into the right place. With the senior staff now down at the ceremony, Anika hit her combadge. “Roslyn to Erikson.”

Eveline had gotten herself assigned to the ship maintence crew, and was moving toward the hangar bay with her toolkit when her comm went off. A grin formed as Anika's voice rang out. Tapping her badge, she moved to a more secluded spot. "Erikson here," she said simply.

Hearing Eveline’s voice, Anika lowered her own. “Area is clear. Got the report of which ship needs repaired.” She kept it sounding professional in case any of the others were listening in on her conversation. “You should be able to get in no problem.”

"Good, I'm on my way to the hangar now," Eveline replied, as she started moving again. "What's the security like? I don't want to spend an hour explaining myself."

“Just let them know whoever that chief of yours is...Tendai? Say that she sent you there. Besides, most of the security is at the ceremony.” Anika double checked who was down there and held in a laugh. “It’s that Caitian, Srash?”

"Great, what about at the ship? Any Klingon security to deal with?" Eveline looked around, glad she was alone.

“You mean hide all the communications between us and the tracking on your combadge so that they can’t see you were there? You’ll be blacked out once you get close. Actually, it should show you in engineering, even now.”

"You're the best," Eveline laughed amd slowed, making it look like she was checking her padd to see where her assignment was. "Ah, there's the pussycat..." she chuckled. "Erikson out," she tapped her badge and tucked her padd into her kit.

"State yourrr business, Lieutenant," Srash narrowed his eyes at the engineer as she approached. "Why arrren't you at the parrrty?"

Eveline fished the padd out again and held it up. "Drew the short straw. Lieutenant Tendai sent me to take a look at the Bird of Prey's engines. Apparently they're having troubles and she worked out a deal with them?"

Srash took the PADD and read over it. It looked legit, though he wondered what deal would make it so Klingons agreed to let Starfleet look at their engine, but then he read the information about Lt. JG Erikson being quite proficient with propulsion systems. "Alrrrright," he said finally, moving to let her in. "Check in with me beforrrre you leave." He returned the PADD as she passed him.

"Aye, Lieutenant," Eveline smiled sweetly at him before moving into the hangar bay and eyeing the bird of prey with a grin. She moved quickly, gaining access to the ship quickly. Calling up the ship's schematics on her PADD, she studied it for a moment. Then she tapped a timer on the PADD and began her task.

Finding the first position quickly, she pulled one of the explosives out of her kit. She pulled a relay and affixed the speed sensitive bomb to the back of it before replacing the relay. She did this several more times around the engine room of the ship. Then she did the repairs she was assigned to do. When she was done and had stepped out of the ship, she tapped the timer. "One hour seven minutes, damn Eve, you were slow!" She shook her head and made her way back to Srash, wiping her hands on a towel from her kit. "All done, heading back to the Engineering hub, thanks Lieutenant." She gave a wave to the security officer and he nodded in return before resuming his pacing, obviously starting to become bored.

Once out of earshot, Eveline tapped her badge. "Erikson to Roslyn."

Having actually been doing some work, but eyeing the clock the whole time, Anika nearly jumped when the call came in. “Go ahead, Erikson.”

"It's done," Eveline reported. "Everything's been fixed, how's it looking your end?"

“Looks like you’re good on this side too, Lieutenant. Well done.” Anika double-checked the readings before she wiped them from the system, using the stolen command codes that she’d managed to see over someone’s shoulder. “Repairs complete, Erikson.”

"Acknowledged," Eveline said as she passed another short-straw puller and gave them a nod. "Heading back to base," she headed for the Engineering hub, hoping to get a snack before she was pulled into more work. "Want to meet for tea?"

Anika chuckled. “Once I’m free of here, sure. We have a lot to talk about.”

"Well, hurry up and get free, I need a tea!" Eveline chuckled at her own silly rhyming and shook her head. She passed a few non-comms on their way somewhere and gave them flirty winks. "And some chatting," she added as she headed into the shared command and engineering building.

"You know I'm stuck up here until the cat gets back," Anika stated with a sigh in her voice. "But the moment I'm able, I'll come find you."

"Then maybe I'll just have to come find you and drag you away for a 'meeting'," Eveline grinned at Anika from across the command center.

Glancing over to the voice, Anika caught a few eyes on her. Not that it bothered her. Handing a PADD over to an ensign who also was there to cover command, after making sure everything else was hidden away and not traceable back to her or Eveline, she walked over to the other woman. "Are we due for a meeting, Lieutenant?" She did her best to avoid putting on a flirtatious smile, but she couldn't help it. "Then by all means, lead the way."

"We are due a meeting Lieutenant, I have much to report about these blasted last minute repairs," Eveline put on a show for the gathered ops crew. But when she turned to lead the way to their "meeting", she flashed Anika a grin.
