Refelian stood at his office window sipping tea as he watched the crowds scurry around down below. It filled him with pride to see the paths full of people going about their business. Most were probably here for the official opening ceremony but still, if they could pull of this without a hitch word would spread about how nice Faltan’s Station was. Well, at least he hoped they’d say that.
Mint came up beside Harry and looked out at the bustling paths. "So many people," she mused, watching them move about. "Our hard work is paying off."
“So it would seem.” Harry replied without looking away from the window. “I’m surprised so many people came to see the station after what happened the other week. But it shows that people do stand together in time of need.”
"Some of it is probably due to curiosity as well," Mint turned toward him, watching him rather than the people bustling about outside. "Some want to show solidarity, some want to see the station that's making waves, and some want to see the Captain who survived an assassination attempt, see what's so special about him that someone tried to assassinate him."
Harry shook his head, “It’s not the Captain that’s special it’s the position he holds. I only survived because of the medical care I received and quite possibly the shooter was a bad shot.” He added at the end with a smirk.
”Flight Control to Commander Prescott. came a voice over the comm.
Giving Harry a wry smile, Mint tapped her comm badge. "Prescott here, go ahead."
”Erm, I think you need to come out here, ma’am.”
"What's going on?" She raised an eyebrow at Harry, but bit off the sigh that she wanted to release.
Harry shrugged, “Let’s find out.” He said as he gestured for his first officer to lead the way.
"If you have work to do, I can handle it," she said, placing a hand on his arm. "You don't have to come."
“I’m people watching and drinking tea. I think I can spare a few minutes.” Harry said with a grin.
Mint laughed and shook her head. "Alright then," she said giving him a quick kiss on the cheek before moving toward the door. "Are you coming or what?" she called over her shoulder with a devilish grin.
“Bossy boots” Harry replied back with a smirk as he followed her out into the Command Deck of Faltan Station.
"I can go change into my sassy pants, if you would prefer that." Mint laughed as she entered the lift.
“Now there’s an idea.” Harry said before taking a sip of his tea as he walked.
Shaking her head, Mint kept further comments to herself before she got into trouble. Then again, the 'trouble' she'd gotten into lately with Harry had been totally worth the risk. She remained quiet for the rest of the trip to flight control. Stepping through the doors though, she turned off 'flirty mode' and went straight to work. "Report," she called as she walked up to the main display.
“Ma’am, a Klingon vessel is approaching. They’re insisting they have permission land and want us to clear the main landing pad.” The Ensign reported at Flight Operations.
Mint shook her head. "We do have a Klingon Ambassador attending the opening ceremony, so this was expected," she said patiently. "Did they say who they are?"
“Ambassador T'datroh.” The Ensign replied.
The Captain stepped forward and nodded, “Thats the Klingon Ambassador who has been assigned to Faltan Station. They see this as a key installation as this is going to be the base of operations against the Sovereignty of Kahless.”
Mint nodded, then turned to Refelian. "This is why I've not been taking breaks," she said softly. She turned back to the Ensign and smiled. "Give them permission to land and clear the landing pad," she ordered. "I'll alert M'Mira that we have another VIP landing."
“This will be interesting. M’Mira and a Klingon Ambassador.” Harry said with a smirk.
Mint chuckled. "I feel bad for the Klingon Ambassador..." she grinned at him. "But you're the one that assigned her to that role.”
“You have to admit, she’s the best person for the role.” Jack commented before taking another sip of his drink.
"You're right, she is," Mint nodded as she typed in a message to M'Mira. "And she is loving it. Though she wants to take over everything. You've created a monster."
Harry chuckled, “I wonder if we can get a leash to fit her.”
Unable to help herslef, Mint let out a loud laugh before clapping a hand over her mouth. "Oh lord, I could just see that going over well," she giggled and shook her head, "M'Mira would kill us if we tried!"
“I didn’t say anything about trying!” Harry said before turning to head back to his office. “If you have any more problems with the Klingons, send them my way.”
"I was going to anyway," Mint grinned at him. "But I doubt we'll have any troubles with M'Mira greeting them and directing them to their quarters."
“Indeed.” Harry said with a smile before disappearing into his office.
