Mission:
Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Bridge, USS Sirius
Timeline: MD01 - 0845
Captain Horatio Refelian stepped onto the bridge of the USS Sirius. It had been the first time since he commanded her into Earth Spacedock four years earlier for her major refit. The crew at the time were reassigned and he was assigned to command the USS Solent.
Now, the Sirius under a new Captain and crew were taking Refelian to his next Command, Faltan Station.
He slowly circled the ‘new’ bridge of the Sirius. Most of it was the same but there had been some changes. Harry was a big fan of the Insignia Class vessels. He was very proud to be asked to serve as First Officer of the Sirius back in ‘79 not realising he’d been chosen to replace Captain Banda as her tour came to an end.
He finally reached the centre two chairs, where the Benzite Captain sat with his first officer.
“Quite a ship you have hear, Captain.” Harry commented with a smirk.
“Thank you, Captain. She is a great ship, with a proud history.” Vezdun replied with a wink.
Commander Johnson rose from seat, “Please, Captain. Be my guest.” He said offering his seat.
Refelian shook his head, “No thank you, Commander, my days of sitting in those chairs on this ship is long since gone. I’m only here for an updated arrive time in the Faltan system.”
“Helm, how long until we reach the Faltan System?” Johnson asked, as he sat back down.
“36 minutes, Commander.” The Ensign replied.
“The Osiris dropped off our first load of Engineering supplies for us to get Faltan up and running again. They couldn’t get get a response from the admin team that were left behind. Have our hails been answered?” Refelian asked. Part of his mission of bring Faltan Station back online was finding out why the administration team had gone quiet 6 weeks earlier.
“No.” Captain Vezdun replied. “We’ve been hailing every 30 minutes since we’ve been in range but we’ve had nothing back. Any ideas why they went quiet?”
“None.” Harry said as he crossed his arms. “Their last comms were routine, nothing out of the ordinary. Starfleet doesn’t believe the Faltan’s are involved although they’ve not had much contact with them since they pulled the plug on the station 18 months ago. They are a possibility as are the Caerus Mining Company. Or it could be someone completely differently. I’m hoping Starfleet will send me a good group of officers to help me get to the bottom of this mystery.”
Vezdun nodded, “Have you need assigned anyone yet?”
Harry nodded, “I’ve been sent a few personnel files senior officers transferring in which I’ll read once we’re situated. Not a full complement yet though. I believe the Marines under Colonel Haversford will begin arriving at the end of the week. If need be, I’ll draft their help with the investigation.”
“Sounds like you got your hands full over the next few weeks.” Johnson said with a smile.
“Indeed, with the Administration teams disappearance, getting Faltan back up and running, making contact with Faltan’s and the Mining Colony on Luna, plus the Klingon Empire is at Civil War with the Sovereignty of Kahless and the Romulan Free Movement right on our door step. ’Hands full’ is the biggest understatement I’ve heard for a long time.” Harry said with a chuckle before stroking his greying beard.
“I think I’ll stick to Starship Command, if I’m honest with you.” Vezdun replied, “Seems a simpler way of life.”
Refelian laughed out loud, “I’m actually really looking forward to the challenge. Should be interesting.” Refelian said unfolding his arms. “Well, I probably need to go and finishing packing my stuff up before we arrive. I think Laddie is looking forward to stretching his legs on a planet for a change. Thank you, Captain Vezdun, for the lift.”
“Any time, Captain Refelian.” The Benzite replied.
With a nod to the first officer, Harry made his way off the bridge.
Refelian walked through the doors to the Sirius’ transporter room with his duffel bag over his shoulder and his trusted dog, Laddie, by his side. He was followed closely by Master Chief Petty Officer Freya Duffell, his new Yeoman.
“Is Faltan Station ready to receive us, Ensign?” Refelian asked as he stepped up to the pad. His dog chose the middle of the padd to sit while Refelian and Duffell stood at the front.
“Yes sir. Receiving coordinates for command and control.” The Andorian replied.
“Very well, let the adventure begin. Energise.”
