Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Science Labs
Timeline: MD04 - 1100 Hours
Leyla was having a hell of a first day, and it had barely begun. She got to Faltan only for there to be an explosion of a Klingon ship and she was thrown into part of the investigation. Not that she had an issues working, but she would have like to have been able to get her own personal things out to work on this rather than the standard issue. But, it was what she had.
Putting her samples from the explosion site onto the lab table, she started straight to work. Grabbing one of her hair clips which was tucked into her hairband holding her hair in it's ponytail, she clipped her bangs back so they were out of her face.
She hadn't liked the readings her tricorder had given her out there, and she was hoping the readings were wrong.
Kicking on the equipment, Leyla uploaded her tricorder readings into the computer as she separated the samples. "Computer, begin analysis of sample one," she stated as she placed it onto the scanner. "Analysis started," came the standard voice. Grabbing a PADD, she jotted down a few notes. If this really was someone Federation on the station who planted the explosives, she needed every detail she could get.
"Analysis complete," came the computer's voice once more and she looked over the results. "Exactly like what I saw on the tricorder," she stated softly. "Who would do this..." Shaking her head, she put aside the first sample so she could look it over closer and put the next one on the scanner. "Computer, begin analysis on sample two," again, "Analysis started."
Picking back up the first sample, Leyla turned it around in her hands slowly, running her finger along parts of it. "Doesn't make sense," she said to no one before setting it down to look at the readings again. "Computer, are there any Federation explosives missing from any known locations?"
Longer than it normally would take for the computer to respond, "Unknown." Frowning, that should not have been what she heard, as that information she should have had access to. "Computer, same inquiry." Again, the computer took longer than it should before repeating, "Unknown." Who the hell..."
"Analysis complete," came the computer's voice a moment later, and she looked over at the information. It was almost identical to the first sample. "Definitely Federation explosives, but where did they come from?" Tapping her PADD on her hand after picking it up, she knew she had to report this, not just what she was finding, but the fact that she couldn't get the computer to respond to the question of whether or not there were any missing explosives. Someone with quite a bit of skill would have needed to lock the files down for a senior staff member to now have access.
But Leyla also knew Commander M'Mira would be reporting in with whoever the engineer was she took with her, Rune if she remembered correctly. Her job was to find anything, beyond the Federation explosive signatures, that was odd about all of this. Nothing at all was right about it..
