The new Captain in town

905 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Brig, Security Hub

Kristiina lay on a shelf which Starfleet designated as a bed in the bowels on Faltan Station’s Security Hub. She was quite surprised at how well kept the brig was, in most cells she had visited they all smelt of urine, faeces or other bodily fluids that she’d rather not think about. This lead her to the conclusion that the cleaners here on Faltan Station were the best in the fleet or not many people had been in these cells, which lead her to the assumption that the Security Chief was soft or they didn’t have a security chief at all.

Mint came into the Security Hub and spoke to the Ensign at the main desk before moving over to the cell Kristiina was in. "Rise and shine, Princess," she said almost sarcastically, but actually quite amused. She stood outside the forcefield with her arms crossed over her chest, watching Kristiina.

“It’s about time I was called something nice.” Kristiina said with a chuckle as she slowly sat up. “Well hello, I love what you’ve done with your hair! It’s fabulous!” She has as she rose to her feet and walked towards the forcefield. “Loving the skin colour too. Real or fake, sweet?”

"More natural than your interest in me," Mint raised a brow and smirked. "Mind telling me why you punched one of my security officers?"

“Mind telling me who you are and why one of your security officers grabbed me for no reason?” Peltola asked as she placed her hands on her hips.

"He placed you under arrest Miss Peltola and you weren't cooperating. Therefore, he had every right to place a hand on you," Mint looked at her nails, bored by this woman already. "If you had simply done as asked, you would probably already be on your way. But now look at you. Sitting in a cell, hoping a few random compliments will get you released." She looked up and smirked. "And since you asked so nicely. I am Commander Prescott, Commanding Officer of Faltan Station."

Petlota rolled eyes at the word Miss. “No, I was bombarded with questions then grabbed for no reason. If what said would have happened I would have complied.” She said as she began to pace in front of the forcefield. “So, Captain...” She then mimicked a facepalm, “Oh, I’m so sorry, Commander, I’m guessing you have searched my ship and questioned my crew in regards to these Tallonian Crystals and come up a blank, yes?”

"Your ship is being searched as we speak, and your crew is being questioned as well," Mint ignored the attempts at pushing her buttons. "And you can try to say it didn't happen the way my crew stated it did, but the incident was recorded. I know for a fact that he asked you to come with him for questioning and you refused. He may have overreacted a bit with pulling his phaser, but all in all, he did what he was trained to do. Lying won't help your case, as it is, I can charge you with assault and leave your ass to rot in a cell. Tell the truth about the crystals and maybe you might get a more lenient sentence."

“Ok, ok, ok.” Kristiina said throwing her hands up in the air. “You win, I’ll talk.” She said as she walked back to the shelf bed and took a seat. “I have not laid my hands on any Tallonian Crystals. You will find no evidence of them on my ship and my crew won’t know what you’re talking about. I will admit I was in the Tallonian system on business, I was there to import several roles of tholian silk and exotic Vulcan spices. That is it. I’m not sure how or why I’ve been linked to the missing Crystals but I assure you I’m not the one you’re looking for.” She said before folding her arms and looking at the Commander.

Raising an eyebrow, Mint gave a short nod. "Time will tell if you're giving me the truth," she said after a moment. "For now, get comfortable on that bed, you'll be here for a while." She let her arms fall to her sides, then folded them carefully behind her as she stood up straight. "You still have the charges of assaulting an officer to answer to, on top of your ship being searched for illegal goods."

“By your own admission your officer acted harshly. I was just defending myself.” She said simply.

"He reacted harshly to your resistance. You were not defending yourself, you were being obstinate," Mint said with a shake of her head. "Don't try to weasel your way out of charges Miss Peltola. They will be coming, and trying to goad me will only add to the time you stay here while we investigate the incident."

“Well, at least I can catch up on my beauty sleep.” Kristiina replied with a smirk. “Looks like you need a lot yourself.” She added before laying back down and closing her eyes.

Rolling her eyes, Mint walked away from the cell and spoke to the officer at the desk again. A short conversation later, she was on her way out of the brig and on to other, more important matters.
