Mission:
Mission 3: Diplomacy, what’s that?
Location: Falton Security Office
Tristian entered to meet the Chief of Security in his office. He had to pass a security check along the way, to be able to meet the chief directly. A station this large, Lieutenant Hudson was concerned about its security as a target.
The station was attacked In the past, and it is possible in the future once more. He needed to know how best to protect Sick Bay on Faltan and its patients and his staff. He was responsible for his department and people.
“Officer. It is good to meet you, Lieutenant JG Chaim.”
The affable Tomer Chaim greeted Tristian, "Good to make your acquaintance as well, Lieutenant Hudson. How can I be of service to you today?"
Tristian greeted in kind. “Good to see you, Sir. This is my first meeting with Security. I had wanted to inquire as to our plans for defense during an attack.”
"I am going to give you an answer that you will not like. There are not current standard procedures in place, yet. I only just got here yesterday, as did my superior officer from the Kumari."
“Not a question about Security as I have come to have a conversation. In sickbay, we are a target, what kind of weaponry is at our disposal. Can I have the staff learn on the holodeck how to use weapons for defense?” He was concerned after hearing the attacks that had occurred recently on Faltan.
"You have the same weaponry that anybody has available, which is none, barring an attack and authorizations given from this office. That being said, I would be happy to assist you and your staff with becoming familiar with various weapons, if that is what you desire." Tomer considered this for a moment and asked, "Have you talked about this at all with the Captain?"
“M’Mira?” He shook his head. “No.” He added. “I wanted to find out what is feasible.” Tristian’s thinking was to train his staff to be better able to handle a weapon. Regardless, having no access to the weapons on the station might pose a problem for future planning.
“This is not my department. I can speak to Captain M’Mira and get together with Lieutenant Snowdon later to work out something.”
"I would be happy to teach you and your department self defense. I would be happy to train everyone with weapons but access to weapons is restricted to use by Security and can only be overridden by the Chief or Captain. Now, if it were up to me, everyone would be properly trained and have access but I don't make the rules," Tomer replied apologetically.
“No worry, Officer.” Hudson shrugged. “Please don’t think this is a lack of confidence. It’s just my own effort.” He offered.
"I, for one, appreciate your effort, Doctor," Tomer answered affably.
Gavin appreciated the acknowledgment, although he wasn't the only one who had regarded security matters on the station.
"By the way. Lt. JG. Chaim. Your wife had come in yesterday to stretch her legs on a walk. I had my first chance to meet her. We discussed the baby, and everything is going well. I will be monitoring her, if you have any questions at any time about the pregnancy, you are to be involved just as much as Kara."
"I would not dream of missing anything when it comes to that little Captain she's growing inside her. I can hardly wait to meet him. I only hope that I won't feint at the little guy's bris."
"Good. Well, we have a few standard tests scheduled for tomorrow, pressure on the baby's womb, intra-vascular connections, DNA analysis, Etc." He offered. "And there has been a bris scheduled. I have not been aware. Do you require my services?" He had wondered if they had a religious elder chosen.
Tomer responded matter-of-factly, "Once our little Captain is born, I will contact my parents who will send the rabbi." His voice became more proud, as he continued to speak. "Then, eight days after he is born, he'll have his bris, the tip will be snipped, and we will also have his Pidyon Haben when he is thirty days old and buy him back for five shekels!"
"I will leave now, thank you for indulging me." He shook his head, feeling rather lame.
Connor looked over at Tristian and asked, "Have I offended you?"
Tristian paused. "No, no offense. I am feeling foolish for thinking this would be easier said. Nothing in your books, good Sir!" Tristian leaned forward and clasped Tomer's hand, gripping it for a tight handshake.
Thank you for your Service! I will see you around. Anytime you need anything medical, oh say your "Medical Check-Up" is due, I'm your guy."
Tomer shook Tristian's proffered hand gave him a wide, genuine smile. "Thank you for that, Doctor. I will keep that in mind."
