[ CAPT M'MIRA'S OFFICES ]

Chief of Station Operations, Lieutenant Theodore "Theo" Ashford, leisurely stroked his lanky, self-assured stride down the corridor. Raising his right hand to check his silver wrist watch, to check the time.

Entering the office of Capt. M'Mira, Faltan Station Captain. Theo reminded himself of the information he had learned regarding the Caitian Captain. She was practical and no-nonsense. According to Chief Ashford, that was the kind of Command he excelled under.

At the reception desk to M'Mira's office, Ashford was then told to take a seat. Taking the seat, he stretched out, relaxing a moment, taking in the station's interior. Every station seemed to have its own some kind of unique build to it. This interest is what drove Lt. Ashford to enter Starfleet Operations. Of course, Theo excelled beyond his peers and often matched his Starfleet Spatial Quadradynamic Sensory Systems.

M'Mira was grateful that she had a yeoman acting as a receptionist. It allowed her to nap. When she heard the polite chime on her door, she knew that it was time to wake up. So, she stretched on her desk, lazily climbed off of it, checked herself in the mirror to make certain that she looked put together, and then exited her office to see who had disturbed her.

When she came out, she noticed Theo. That must be the new Chief Operations Officer that I sent for. "Come in. Come in. I have been expecting you," the Caitian told Theo. "Let us see if we can get you all settled in."

Theo smiled when he met Captain M’Mira. She seemed to be friendly and accommodating. This was a relief from his last Captain he had served under on Discovery Station IV, in the Unara Sector.

“Captain. It is a pleasure and an honour to be serving aboard Faltan Station.” The station was certainly a step up from his previous postings, as this station was newer, more advanced and certainly was larger. This meant he would be more busier, and less time to idle. He didn’t need idle time, as he was single and bored out of his mind when he was not minding station systems and operations.

M’Mira laughed lightly. "Well, I do not know if honorrr is the rrright worrrd. We do have a lot of action out herrre." She brought him into her office, caitian hair evident on the top of her desk. She offered him a seat at the front and then moved behind her desk.

Taking a seat as offered, he looked around M’Mira’s office. It was comforting yet business-like. He sat, with his specs of Faltan Station on his Padd already studying up on current systems and station workings in progress. He looked on as she took her seat behind her command desk.

"So," M'MIra started, her elbows hitting the top of her desk and she rested her chin on top of cupped paws, as she stared directly at her new officer. "You came to take my old position as Chief of Ops, did you?" A furry eyebrow raised over her right eye as she allowed her canines to show.

Theo Ashford met Captain M’Mira’s gaze with a small, confident smile. “Yes, Captain. I’m taking over your former post as Chief of Operations. Faltan Station is quite the upgrade from my previous assignments—newer, more advanced, and far busier. I prefer it that way. I’ll make sure the keys to your old ops kingdom are in good hands.”

M'Mira leered over at Theo and with a malicious grin said, "You had betterrr. If not, I will perrrsonally space you." She then sat back in her chair and started laughing after a lengthy pause. "But, serrriously, I will be watching yourrr worrrk. Therrre is too much going on herrre to allow any parrrt of this station to fail. That said, tell me what you need and I will make cerrrtain that you have it for the station and yourrr team."

Lt. Theo Ashford chuckled and shook his head. “Got it, Captain. I’ll try not to get spaced.”

He leaned forward a bit. “Seriously, here’s what I need: full diagnostic access — level three and up — especially the power relays and environmental systems. I’ll also need two more solid engineers who don’t mind Jefferies tubes.”

“Priority on the deck 12 replicator overhaul would help too — we’re only at 87%. And if I can have Cargo Bay 7 for parts, that’d be great.”

He met her eyes. “Plus your backing when Security or Science drag their feet. That’ll make the biggest difference.”

Theo gave a small smile.

“Otherwise, we’re ready to go. Any questions, or should I get my team moving?”

M'Mira folded her paws across each arm, thinking about what Theo just rattled off. "Thrrree is only sufficient for brrridge officerrrs. You arrre a chief. I will give you level five clearrrance. That will give you the entirrre station layout. If you need engineerrrrs, you can always talk to the Acting Chief, Connorrr Turrrnerrr. Also, you might not want to tell Acting Chief Tomerrr Chaim what you said about securrrity, he takes his job serrriously. We also have marrrines, of which my XO is one. Talk to Colonel Jack Patton and he may lend morrre of a hand."

“Understood, Captain M’Mira.” Theo was all professional, except when off duty.

“Forgive my forwardness. I just took the offer when asked. I appreciate your advice. I will come to you for many more inquiries and questions regarding station affairs. I don’t want to start off rattling the boat, so to speak.” He winked. He liked M’Mira. She was a straight shooter, knew her stuff, but was soft spoken. To an extent, he could tell. Those canines certainly shone proudly.

“Captain. Do you have any questions regarding me?” He thought he would offer, before he got started in Faltan Station's command center. Theo was eager to see what his setup would look like.

"I have many questions," M'Mira told him with a soft purr, her smile starting to show her canines more. "Why did you choose Faltan Station? Was it just convenient as a Chief position orrrr something else?"

“Well, as a Tactical Instructor for Starfleet Academy, I worked on Weaponry deployment and redevelopment initiatives at the Annex in San Francisco. It was a side Operations niche.” He shrugged, showing indifference with a slight smile. “They held on to me, delaying my transfer to Faltan Station for a year.” He semi-rolled his eyes.

He slapped his hands on his shorts and slowly stood up, sensing the subtlety of the command to move on to other topics. Perhaps M’Mira was going to have a nap.

“I will let myself out now, Captain. Truly an honour.” Theo homed in on M’Mira, enjoying seeing her emotions swish in response to her tail.

M'Mira was uncertain about Theo once he made that announcement. Who did he think he was? He was not in charge here. That said, she did feel another nap coming on. For the moment, she would watch his work and his relationships like a hawk. Her lips tightened as she answered, "I will be watching you, Lieutenant. Don't let me orrr the station down."
