Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Engineering
Timeline: MD04 - 1830
Was it appropriate for a Caitian to be in a foul mood? M'Mira wondered. After all, a Caitian was felanoid but a fowl.... Well, it should be prey! Maybe that's why a foul mood was a bad mood in the Terran speech. The bird knew it was about to be eaten. She shrugged. Terran speech could be very odd sometimes. Regardless, this day had been a disaster. First, her nap was ruined by that Chief Science Officer who then had the audacity of accusing her of sleeping on him! Then, her Captain got shot and she was not allowed to investigate. Heck, Mint, her BFF wouldn't even allow her to put together an investigatory force. And of course, to top it all off, the worst thing that could possibly happen, happened: the Captain's couch and the Faltans made her chip a nail!
Well, if this day was going to get worse, she really did not know how. To try and make herself feel better, she first replicated an adequate file to start working on her nail. While she filed, she started walking to the operations and engineering building. Mint had reminded M'Mira that she had people beneath her. While they might not be as talented as she, they could roam around in the muck and perhaps accomplish what was necessary. Maybe they could find a source of sabotage with the power cells. Anything was worth a try while she had to deal with this nail emergency.
Her tail nervously lowered and swishing anxiously from side to side, M'Mira arrived. She looked at a human woman. Younger, cute. Some exotic look about her. Potential threat. Much better for her to get dirty. Walking up to her she said, "You'rrrrre Lieutenant Kahala, rrrright? I think I might have a job for you. Do you think you could handle it?"
Hearing her name, Kakie continued with what she'd been doing, putting some equipment away in an equipment locker. Frowning, she inwardly sighed. While she loved her job, it had been so extra busy, and with so much more to do, she was actually looking forward to calling it a day. "If it has to do with engineering, I can handle it." she said, quickly glancing over to the ops chief before shutting the tool locker door.
"It does," M'Mira answered simply. "Of courrrse, you arrrre awarrrre that we have been having issues with the powerrr cells, yes?" M'Mira's tail drooped as she continued filing her nail, tsking at it as she got irritated that she would likely have to redo all of her nails.
"I am." Kakie replied, while watching the Caitian. She was the damage specialist after all and had been trying to keep up on repair reports along with her orders from the chief. A little concern showed up on her features. "What about it?" she asked.
"I am not wholly convinced that the power packs failing is a natural phenomenon," M'Mira confessed. "Please keep this inforrrmation quiet. Pick a team that you can trrrust and manually check every circuit and every juncturrre. I want to know what we arrrre up against."
Kakie nodded. "So would I. I've been swamped with repairs, but I've got the time now and would love nothing more than to dig into what happened here."
“Good! I seem to be a bit busy to handle this since I am the acting XO. Take who you need and make certain of any findings. We can’t afforrrrd mistakes.”
"I understand," Kakie replied, already thinking about who she would take with her to look into this. "And there won't be." Then she inwardly sighed, thinking about how it was going to be a long night, yet how important this was. "The sooner we get started the better," she said while reopening the locker. She pulled out an engineering kit and turned back towards M'Mira. "Anything else?"
"No, that's all for now. Rrreporrrt any findings. I have some other matters to attend to. Dismissed."
