Mission: Mission 3.5 Faltan proudly welcomes ... The USS Kumari
Location: Promenade to Candy's Quarters

Candy had been planning for this day. Kumari had arrived. On its ship was a crew of misfits. There was Captain Colburn who had more than a unique past. There was Liam McCarthy, who nearly was framed for espionage and then while exonerated was rumored to have fathered three children by three different women. Beyond that was a large cast of chiefs that had shady histories and stories. She would learn them all and she would expose the truth.

Dressed in civilian clothing that accentuated her small waist and shapely figure, she decided that she would have an accidental run in with the Captain. No recorders except the one stashed in her small handbag were necessary. Now, we will see the kind of man that Colburn is. Spying her prey leaving M'Mira's office, she waited until he was walking on a path that she would cross. This might hurt. But finding the truth never is easy.

Putting on her best "dumb blond," act, she started walking on a path that collided her with the Captain. Upon impact, she spilled to the floor and looked up at the Captain with her best big eyes that said, "I'm hurt." She exclaimed, "Ow! Oh my! Whatever happened!"

“I’m so sorry, Miss...” Jack said as he offered the downed damsel his hands to help her back up. He’d been in a mind of his own after leaving Commander M’Mira’s office and hadn’t seen the female dress in civilian attire in his path.

Candy giggled lightly as she took his hands and allowed herself to be guided up. "Templeton, but please, that's way too formal," she informed the Captain in an innocent girly voice. "Please call me Candy. That's my first name, it is. And you are?" She blinked a couple of times sweetly at Jack.

’Ah, so you’re Candy Templeton’ Jack thought to himself as she helped the attractive reporter up. “Jack Colburn. A pleasure to meet you, Candy.” Jack replied giving her a charming smile.

"You know me?" she asked putting her hand against her chest pretending to be completely flattered and shocked. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr., er, what rank are you, Mr. Colburn?"

“No, I don’t know you but I’ve heard your name mentioned around the station.” Jack replied. “I’m a Captain.”

"A Captain?" She kept her hand on her chest feigning being impressed. "My goodness! Whatever ship would you be serving, or are you taking over for our dear M'Mira?"

“I’m the commanding officer of the USS Kumari. I’m just here to pay my respects to Commander M’Mira and her team. I doubt Starfleet will be replacing the Commander for quite sometime. She’s done an excellent job since she took over.”

"A Captain? Oh, my! Tell me, Captain Colburn. Why did Kumari come here? Are we in some sort of trouble? I mean, did Starfleet expect some more here?"

“No, not at all. I came here to collect the rest of my crew and the civilians that have asked to live aboard her, which might explain when Faltan has seemed so busy lately, they’ve been waiting for us to arrive.” Jack replied.

"I see. I see. So, why don't you buy me a drink and show me around the Kumari? I just LOVE ships!"

“Unfortunately, you don’t have the necessary security clearance to get aboard the Kumari but I’d happily buy you a drink if you’re still interested?” Jack replied with a charming smile.

"I'll happily take the drink," Candy replied. "And why would I not have the clearance?" Candy wondered aloud.

“Because I’ve said you don’t.” Jack replied, offering his arm to the attractive reporter.

"Well, maybe you should clear me, then. I'm a lot more fun when I have open access," Candy replied with a smile full of innuendo and taking Jack's arm.

“Is that a fact, Ms Templeton? Perhaps you can enlighten me over that drink.” Jack said as he lead the reporter out of Faltan’s Control Centre and to the nearest turbolift.

"I would be most pleased to enlighten you," she replied, her strawberry breath getting close to Jack's nose. Lightly, she put her finger on Jack's nose and removed it playfully. "I just hope that the experience is mutual."

Jack couldn’t help be drawn in my Candy looks and magnetism. “We shall soon see, where’s the best place to get a decent beverage on this Station?”

"That depends if you merely want a decent beverage or a really good one," Candy told Jack with a wink and a smile.

“Alright, a really good one.” Jack smiled as the lift began to go down.

"Well, for a really good one, I would suggest that we head to Nirvana. There's great drinks and dancing there." Her eyelashes batted lightly. "There's also dancing, if you would like."

“I drink but I don’t dance.” Jack commented with a smirk. “Unless I’ve had lots to drink.” He added as the lift came to a stop and the doors swished open.

"Well, perhaps we should give you lots to drink so you could show me some of that fancy footwork...."

"There's nothing fancy about my drunk footwork, I can assure you that." Jack replied with a smirk.

"Well, tell me what IS fancy about you, then...."

"Nothing really, I try to avoid fancy. What's fancy about yourself?" The Captain asked.

Candy held her hand daintily at her breast in faux offense. "You cannot tell, Captain? I am offended!"

Jack cleared his throat, "I meant what isn't obvious to the eye. Your a very attractive woman there's no doubt about that."

"Then what is there doubt about, Captain?" Candy replied, now smiling like the cat that ate the canary. She was in her element, now.

"Your other qualities? I've heard you've been busy since arriving on Faltan III. Especially making friends with the Falteans themselves." Jack commented.

Cindy raised an eyebrow lightly, the only giveaway regarding her surprise. "I make friends everywhere that I go. It never makes do to create enemies."

"But making friends with enemies gets noticed." Jack commented.

"Enemies are friends that we just have not yet appropriately handled," Candy replied with a simple smile. "Besides, I am under no illusions as our Faltean 'friends.'" The woman made a small but noticeable air quotation when saying the word, "friends."

"So why do they allow you to freely go to their city? What's going on?" Jack asked as they continued to walk. "Of course, it's none of my business. I don't have anything to do with the station but I'm just curious. They've tried to assassinate a Starfleet Captain along with other transgressions, surely that must make you on edge dealing with them?"

"The Governor enjoyed an article of mine and figures that she can use me," Candy replied candidly. "In the meantime, it gives me access to some more actual facts, which nobody else can obtain. There's a great deal of stories to obtain there. I just have to find the right places to search, despite their best efforts to keep the good stuff away from me." She held on tightly to Jack's arm. "And I do like getting all of the exclusives."

"Naturally." Jack replied with a chiming smile. "But don't you think there's going to be a stigma to your exclusives if you're seen to be collaborating with an enemy?'

"I have very little concern. My objectives are finding truth and sometimes that could mean acting like an intelligence officer." She giggled. "Can you really imagine me in that position? A silly blonde like myself?"

"If anyone thinks of you of a silly blonde then they're the stupid one. You've got your head screwed on. Underestimating you would be a big mistake for anyone."

Sighing, Candy answered, "Well, I suppose that I can drop the act, then. Perhaps you would be kind enough to tell me about your crew. I'm particularly interested in yourself and your Executive Officer, Liam McCarthy."

Jack raised an eyebrow, "What, particularly, do you want to know?"

"Why everything, of course!" Candy replied, her dumb blonde act voice returning. "But seriously, you were captured and what do you know of your illustrious XO?"

"Ask away and I shall tell you what I can." Jack replied. He wondered if he could get some information out of her while they were chatting.

"I think that some of these discussions are done in a non-public forum, don't you agree? Perhaps I could make you that stiff drink in my quarters?"

Jack nodded in agreement. "Alright, I've got time."

Candy escorted Jack to her quarters. Once there, she instructed the computer, "Computer, keep the lighting dim." Her quarters were not neat. There were papers and PADDs located throughout the quarters. Some holos graced some tables. Dirty dishes and glasses had not yet been sent back through the replicator. "Excuse the mess," she told Jack unapologetically. "I was not born to be a housekeeper." And it gets on Connor's nerves, so he cleans for me when he decides that we are still a couple. "However, no deadly disease yet," she replied laughing jovially. "What would you like, Jack? I have some real alcohol, not that silly synthehol stuff, if you prefer."

"What have you got that's real?" Jack asked as he looked around the reporters quarters. For a pretty and well-maintained lady, her quarters did let her down.

"I have some Vulcan wines, vodka, whiskey, and some rum," Candy offered, moving towards a small wetbar area. While there, she reached from under the bar and took a holo of her and Connor and stuffed it into a drawer as she started to pull out bottles and a couple of glasses. "I can mix competently. I had some lessons on Earth from a bartender or two back in the day."

"Last week then?" Jack replied with a cheeky smile.

"Flattery gets you everywhere, Jack. Is that how you got your ship?"

"I'm not sure how I got my ship with my reputation." Jack replied with a laugh.

"Oh, come on, now. Tell me the tale. I'm sure that I will make it worth your while."

"Hope you be got enough time." Jack replied with a smirk before he began to tell Candy how he became Captain of the Kumari.
