Mission: Mission 5 - The Cold War Ends
Location: Office of the Executive Officer
Timeline: MD001 1700 hrs

Brina picked her way through the movement of piecing together the location of the Kingsmen's new place.

"Colonel Patton." Brina stepping into his office. "Looks like you are making great progress in your office. I also wanted to talk about how things are here on this station. We certainly have a bit to get used to."

"Yes Captain. Come in, have a seat." Jack smiled and sipped his evening cup of coffee. " Things are certainly different here than on Poseidon. But I don't think it is nothing we cannot handle. The family settle in to their new home okay?"

"So far so good. Though my lads want to go exploring this station from topside down. And they have a willing partner in crime found in their father. " Brina giving a chuckle walking over and getting a cup of coffee before she sat down. "New horizons, guess in someway a new frontier for us. Something that won't stop us though. As it stands i am quite glad that we are not Starfleet. The discipline with The Kingsmen, is actually a good grounding factor. Of which I am grateful for having."

"Yes that is one of the great things about my beloved Corps. Faltan seems like a good place to raise a family." Jack said that more to convince himself than anything else. "The crew that has been here is not used to a Marine presence. So, we are going to have to treat them with kit gloves at least for a time. Until they get used to how we interact with the Fleet."

Brina gave a nod. "Speaking of family, how is Aer doing? And how are you doing with the pregnancy. Have you had any sympathetic morning sickness?"

Jack cocked an eyebrow at the mention of sympathetic morning sickness. "She is doing great, glowing as ever. We are getting as ready as we will ever be for a child. As to the sickness, it is my impressing that sympathetic morning sickness is psychosomatic. And if I am honest, perhaps it is her El Aurian heritage, but she has not had much morning sickness."

"Well she is a lucky woman in that aspect and I am glad you don't have those." Brina having relieved smile. " Now to business, since we don't know much about the planets here, should we do some recon and have a look around?"

"No. Whatever we need to know at the moment should be in the Station's computers. If we go down to Faltan without cause or invite. Especially if we do so covertly, it will be viewed as an act of aggression from the Faltan government. That is something that we cannot afford. So, unfortunately we are going to have to settle for whatever information is on hand." Jack knew that there would be some snooping as it were. But it would not be on Faltan. There was something going on right here on the station and he wanted to know what.

"I had been asked by the Captain to have dinner with my family sometime after we get settled. I can find out more about her that way. It would provide a bit more information where she is concerned. And just what makes her tick." Brina rubbing her chin.

Jack knew that if the Captain was actually behind anything nefarious there would be no indication at a dinner with family. The Captain's training would see to that. However, he thought it best to let Brina do as she wished, on the odd chance that something would come of it. The fact that the Captain had invited Brina to dinner showed something a little out of the ordinary but not nefarious. "I would agree. See if you can get to know the Captain better. In the meantime Aer and I will work the Candy angle."

Brina nodded in agreement. "Alright. For now though we'll finish getting us settled in here and do training as well. We're basically starting almost from scratch, and building up more. Any other instructions you wish to have done?"

"Once the Throneroom is finished. We are going to have to begin initial surveys of planets in the area. Our main mission here is to find a suitable place to set up a base of operations for Marines in this area of space. See to it that the Combat Engineers begin their surveys. I will make sure that the Science Department gets us time on the sensor array." While he spoke Jack realized the sheer amount of tasks that were on their collective plates. There was a lot that needed to get done and he wondered at the moment if they were actually up to the task.

"We've got this Colonel." Brina having an expression of confidence, and she felt confident. "I know its not going to be easy so I won't say piece of cake." flashing a smile, then it disappeared. "And I am preaching to the choir, its not going to be easy but I feel it will be worthwhile and that we can do this." If rebuilding Avalon Station with the NEC was a challenge, that was refurbished in an ancient starbase built into an asteroid She felt the Marines had a chance to get their things together as well.

"New location, new set of hurdles. At Poseidon we had the anomaly to deal with. Here it is who knows what. That is the largest problem when an entire unit gets moved. Part of the work is learning what is needed and getting it done as it were." Jack had confidence in his people, however he was also a realist. He knew that it would take a lot of long hard hours that a lot of people may not want to do in order to get it all done.

"The anomaly was mysterious in one aspect, and yet it is more tangible than as you had said things here. Nicholas has been exploring the station along with my boys, wanting to see what is here. He's willing to help out if you would like him too." Brina raising an querying eyebrow.

"As it stands right now we have everything well at hand. But, it is good to know that there is some extra hands out there should they be needed. For now I think the best thing for your family to do is settle in and get familiar with their surroundings. Everything we have discussed could simply be our own fears of the unknown as it were. New things and the such. It could be nothing." This conversation had Jack thinking and there was something to what he just said. Was all of this just him jumping to conclusions?

"Well speaking of the family, its time for me to check on them, and go have dinner. Thank you for the talk, Jack. We still have work to do but our people are doing great." Brina prepping to get up from her seat. "Give Aer my regards, and sometime lets have dinner together."

"Sounds like a plan. As you were Captain." Jack smiled as she turned and left. As much as things changed, some things just remained the same as they ever were.
