Her meeting with Colonel Patton done, Kara headed back to her office tapping her comm badge as she went. “Quinn-Chaim to Lieutenant Chaim, can I see you in my office when you’re available please?”
"Can you see me?" Tomer asked over the comm with a laugh in his voice. "Which part of me do you want to see?" he asked with another chuckle. "And how soon?"
Kara couldn’t help but grin at Tomer’s playfulness. “I’d like to see all of you, as soon as possible.”
"I am fairly certain that the station will not blow up in the next few minutes. I'll come on by.'
Stepping through her office doors she replicated herself a ginger tea and some biscuits before settling down to go over her appointment schedule.
Tomer walked through the doors and wrapped his wife up in his arms and gave her a sweet kiss on the lips. "So, Spots, what's on your mind?"
Kara smiled, she loved it when Tomer was in a good mood. “Actually, I have news.” She paused. “It seems that I’m….pregnant.”
"It seems or are we certain?"
“See for yourself.” Kara handed over a PaDD with all the details. “Six weeks and counting. It appears my birth control suffered a glitch, but we were planning on having another baby soon.”'
Tomer looked at the PADD and his eyes went wide. "This is a cause for celebration!" he replied jubilantly. "The Chaim legacy continues!" He kissed his wife hard and then asked, "So, how are we breaking the news?"
“However, you wish Imzadi,” Kara smiled happily. “I haven’t had my already informed the Captain, I was in a meeting so I told her while I was there.”
"You told her before me?!" Tomer asked, a shocked look on his face. "I know that she loves babies, but really, Kara...?"
“I’m sorry! I was in a meeting, and I thought it best she should know!” Kara offered an apologetic glance. “I’ll make it up to you, okay?”
"And exactly how do you make up me being second, hmmm?" Tomer asked, placing his hands on his hips.
“Ohhh, I’m sure I can think of something” Kara smiled a wry smile as she stepped closer draping her arms around Tomer’s neck, brushing her lips ever so lightly against his. “I could spend all night making it up to you this evening.”
"You could, huh?" Tomer answered, trying to be tough, but already smiling at his wife. "And you think that will be enough, hmmm?"
“Ohhh, I’m sure it will be.” Kara nodded as she grinned at him. “If not be sure to let me know.”
"Oh, I have every intention of letting you know," Tomer answered, mischief written all over his face. "So, too early to know anything about this one, I assume?"
“Probably,” Kara nodded. “To be honest, I didn’t ask this time, I might later on though. The downside to being a telepath and empath is that you can sense what’s going on inside you, so I’ll know one way or the other eventually.”
"Yes.... It also is why you always have the upper hand on me," Tomer told Kara with an amused shrug. "I don't mind you taking advantage of me, though."
He let go of Kara for the moment and asked her, "So, when are we going to tell the kids?"
“How’s about tonight? It’s only fair they know, and that way they won’t worry if mummy is sick.” Kara smiled a wry smile.
"Should we make it some sort of production or just come out with it at dinner?"
“We’ll figure it out at the time,” Kara offered a smile.
"Always playing it by ear, aren't you, Spots? Keep it interesting." He planted a big kiss on her lips. "Why make life boring for me, huh?"
"A boring life would be just that, way boring!!" Kara grinned playfully. "Besides I like the way you look at me when I'm in full pregnancy bloom."
"Do you, now? You like me being anxious for a new captain?"
"Well not so much anxious." Kara shook her head. "I like how protective and caring you are."
"If I were smarter, I would take us all away from here and back to one of our planets so our kids would not be exposed to a potential war zone."
“I know this isn’t an ideal place to raise a family…” Kara offered an understanding gaze. “But it’s not that bad either. We’re not at war yet and hopefully we won’t be.”
"Taga has been too quiet for too long. With the marines here, something must be up. Even Candy Templeton has picked up on it."
Kara nodded. "No doubt we'll find out sooner or later, for now it's business as usual."
"In other words, SNAFU." He sighed heavily and said, "I do not like the way the wind is blowing, Besherta. Mark my words."
Kara nodded. “I trust your instincts Imzadi, but no matter what I’ll be right here with you.”
"If you weren't, I'd track you down, Spots. Otherwise, who'd believe that the kids are mine?" he asked with a small laugh.
“Ohh, I’m sure someone would believe you, handsome.” Kara grinned. “Besides, you don’t think I’d ever leave you for some other woman to run off with, no sir!”
"Oh?" Tomer inquired. "You think that I'm going to run off with some other woman, do you?"
“No, I don’t,” Kara grinned a wry grin. “You wouldn’t have all these spots to follow.…” She motioned to the direction of her spots as they ran down her body.
"Now you're just playing dirty," Tomer told his wife.
“Ohh am I now?” Kara grinned. “That’s because I know you like it.”
Tomer wrinkled his nose and concluded. "Still dirty pool, you know?"
Kara grinned. “Ahh but you like it that way, and you know you do.”
"I will not answer that statement on the grounds that it may incriminate me." He distanced himself from his wife and concluded, "If I do not leave soon, I may get us both in trouble."
Kara grinned. “In that case I’ll see you tonight, and you can answer my question then.”
"I guess I will." He gave his wife one last sweet kiss before stating, "Until then, Counselor...."
Kara grinned. “Until then…”
