Mission 5 - The Cold War Ends
Location: Security and Promenade
Timeline: MD03 - 1500
Kaylee couldn't help herself, she had to come see the set up of security on Faltan Station. The doors parted allowing her into the foyer where the receiving desk was. Walking over to the desk, "Hello is Lieutenant Chaim in the office? Please let him know that Lieutenant Serra would like to see him."
The ensign at the desk was about to say something when Tomer happened to be walking by. He said, "I am Lieutenant Chaim, Lieutenant Serra. How can I be of service?" His voice was positively beaming. His dark brown hair was cut short and he wore a very short beard that matched in color. Although he was of average height, he looked like he could be ready for action at any time should it be necessary.
"We briefly met during the Captain's meeting, introducing all of us. But it was a bit busy there. How are things in security? And could I have a tour of your facility? I had been in security a little bit ago, so I am wanting to see how this is set up." Kaylee replied, giving Tomer a smile.
"I highly doubt I could show you all of the station in one day," Tomer answered. "And my wife, the Chief Counselor, would not prefer that I be gone beyond my shift. Frankly, neither would I." He grinned stupidly at that thought. "So, tell me what you want to see and I'll just show you around."
"The tour I wish is just for security. I'd like to know its capacity." Kaylee answering with a smile. "Nothing to keep you from going to your lovely wife, when it is time."
"Well, this is just the office, as you can plainly see. Brig's in back, if you would like to go there...."
"I would like to see it, if you don't mind. And also tell me a bit about you. I don't know much about anyone on this station." Kaylee responded.
Tomer laughed. "I think I just told you about me. Married, kids." He then beamed with a secret smile at Kaylee with a twinkle in his eye. Whatever it was, he was holding on tight to it. "See, it is actually me that does not know about you," he told the woman as he escorted her into the back room where the was a control panel and then beyond it, three holding cells.
"Nothing fancy, but we don't expect to have too many problems here. It isn't like we're sharing space with the Falteans."
"And the Falteans they cause problems? Have you met any of them?" Kaylee was interested in finding out more of that race.
"No," Tomer admitted. "Governor Taga made certain that she and her entourage were the only people we could talk to."
"So controlling there, how are you supposed to make contact or connections." Kaylee feeling a bit puzzled.
"What do you mean?" Tomer asked.
"Well with the Falteans or are they forbidden to step foot upon the station? What sort of security details has there been given or made?"
"For the Falteans? We've never had one come here. I do not believe that the Falteans have much freedom and I think that Taga plays the citizens against one another. I don't have proof, but that's my belief."
"Well short tour wouldn't be bad. Would you mind if I walk with you as you head for home?" Kaylee wanted to talk more with Tomer, but didn't want to keep in from getting home either.
"Of course not," he informed Kaylee. "We can take the scenic route. Is there anything that interests you or that you would like to see? As long as it is not Connor Turner and Candy Templeton kissing, I'm likely willing to show it to you. Though, when they were an item, I don't think Connor really enjoyed doing that in public. Shy fellow."
"Connor and Candy kissing, I truly don't wish to see that. And I would like some recommendations as to what would be good to see. Last time I went looking, I ran into Candy. She was trying to ingratiate herself with me. I just didn't trust her. She showed up on my radar senses, as not being truthful."
They both left security. "And the scenic route sound lovely." Kaylee added.
"So, you got to meet Candy already," Tomer replied, laughing loudly and deeply. "She definitely likes to shmooze up to anyone that she thinks might have information. Dishonest is not really the right word for her, nor is honest," Tomer replied stopping in place, trying to think of a better way to explain it. "She's just interested in the news. Though, knowing that, I would have thought she would have left after she and Mister Turner broke up. Never thought I'd see him get the nerve to do it...."
He shook his head. "Now, where was I...?"
"I think that they do like each other, especially Candy does seem to have feelings for Connor still." Kaylee remarked. "What sort of hobbies do you like doing?"
"I would not tell that to Candy and especially not Connor. I get the impression that he has tried to move on from her. As to me? Well, does taking care of kids and pregnant wife as a Counselor count?" he asked with a wry but pleased chortle.
Kaylee laughed, "You could say that but I feel there is more, than that."
"Generally, I like things that involve water, martial arts, and cooking. Maybe I like the water so much because much of my ancestry did not have it?"
"Where are you from and I do love the water. I love to swim." she paused for a moment then added. "I am from Italy, and I also practice martial arts. And you cook? Oh my gosh I see a friendship in the making here. What do you say?" her grey eyes just sparkling with delight.
"I'm from Israel. I'm Jewish. So, you know, that whole wander in the desert thing, even if we made it green." He laughed heartily. "But I have to know your secret. You're from Italy and you're not a million pounds from all the pasta. How is that possible? And as to your last question, there's never enough friends in this world."
"Exercise, knowing how much to eat, and I am rather active in sports. Got to keep myself fit. I have had cuisine from where you are from it is delicious. Challah Bread." She pronounced it wrong at first.
Tomer laughed heartily. "Just call it challah and the 'ch' is pronounced like you're about to get ready to spit from the back of your throat." He laughed a little more, "At least you're trying to get it right. But challah is hardly cuisine. You have much to learn."
He looked over Kaylee again and said, "So, no ring. Where's the boyfriend? I may have to explain to him that he should marry you quickly."
Kaylee laughed. "No boyfriend for me, and no husband. I left that--" she paused for a moment to think of what she'd call him.
Her smile slipped away. "A controlling person, who thought he was a god. Divorced him." She clenched her fists at thinking of him.
"Tell me that you kicked his ass," Tomer replied with a growl in his voice.
"Oh, I wasn't about to touch him anymore, so he didn't get to have the delight of my final touch. I just left, while he was occupied." Kaylee answered rather firmly.
Tomer's eyes narrowed. He was not certain but it sounded like Kaylee caught her ex in an affair. What a fool! She's pleasantly feisty. "Maybe you should try women?" he suggested lightly.
Kaylee laughed. "They hold no enticement for me, so nope nothing there. I do have my eye on someone but currently I've not pursued him. He's a little bit busy, currently. Getting acquainted with the station. "
Deciding to change the subject. "When would you like to go do some swimming or just indulge in an activity you like?"
"Someone new? A marine, then?" Tomer mused. "Well, as to doing something, well, I probably should check with Kara with her being in a womanly way and two active kids...."
Kaylee gave a nod. "That would be prudent. Hopefully she will be willing to let you indulge in your activites."
She looked to Tomer, "I wonder if she'd like to have a visit from me. I had briefly met her at the briefing the captain had."
"Kara definitely would not mind having you come to visit. She is the Chief Counselor, after all."
"Okay I'll make certain that I make a note of going to meet her, unless I can do so at the party. Anyway, I should probably let you head off to home to go see her and your family.I am hoping that she'll let us be friends. Platonic friends." Kaylee having a teasing gleam in her eyes, and a slight smile.
Tomer's eyes narrowed at Kaylee, scrutinizing her, wondering why she added "Platonic friends." Was there any doubt? Did he give off signals of someone that would cheat? He did not think so. "Oh, you heard the announcement of the party. Yes, she definitely should be there. Counselors are always the life of the party, I'm told."
Catching his scrutinizing gaze, Kaylee realized her comment about Platonic Friends may have put them on the wrong foot. "Sorry about the comment about platonic friends. I had an incident that someone had thought that he and I were romantically involved when we were just platonic. I wasn't interested in that. And besides, that person was married. The other person wanted it to be more. Was just wanting to put that out there. Not that you are somone who would cheat on his wife. You don't strike me as such at all."
"I would never cheat on Spots. She is my besherta. Besides, I would not want to put the children in a bad spot either. The little captains need to grow and do what their parents have not."
"I don't want to make her or them upset either, anyway, since there is a party that will be happening, I should go get ready." Kaylee giving a warm smile. "See you at the party!" giving a wave of farewell.
