Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Chief Engineer's Office
Timeline: MD08 - 0200
Catrina’s eyes shot open. “Damnit, not again,” she whispered to herself after waking up from her recurring nightmare as she took a few deep breaths. Looking around, she found herself in her desk chair in her office, which was bathed in darkness. “Computer, lights 25%.” There was no response, and she swore under her breath as she took hold of the torch that was sitting on her completely full desk.
“Now what’s wrong,” she asked the darkness as she looked around for where she’d left her tools before falling asleep in the chair. She hadn’t left the engineering area really since getting here, except when she went to work on other areas. Commander Prescott had been right, her office was her quarters at this point.
Stepping out of her office, she worked on getting one of the panels on the wall up and running. It flickered to life and she brought up the power readings. “Computer, when was power cut to the chief engineer’s office?” There was a garbled acknowledgement that the computer heard her command, but the sound vanished again and she never got an answer. “Naturally.”
Working with the panel she had active, Cat brought up an engineering hub layout to see what parts still had power. “What’ve we got here,” she whispered as her eyes scanned the display. “Another reroute after a failure, of course. Let’s see what we can do to fix this.” She started moving power around from areas that didn’t need it at that moment, as they were not occupied.
The lighting quickly rose up around her and she kicked off the torch. “Maybe napping isn’t a great idea. Computer, time?” This time, the computer spoke clearly. “0200 hours.” She sighed and walked back into her office. “Can’t even sleep through the night because of that nightmare, might as well get back to work.”
Grabbing the PADD she’d been keeping information on, Catrina stifled a yawn and headed back out to work on more repairs. She was also keeping track of the layout of the station, as it was easy to get lost if you didn’t know where you were going.
