Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Engineering Hub
Timeline: MD10 - 1000 Hours
Captain Harry Refelian was finally back in uniform and moving about the station, albeit very gingerly. He couldn’t fault the care he’d had by the Station’s medical team. They had been excellent and would note so in his report to Starfleet. The rest of the Station had been coming on leaps and bounds while he’d been out of action, mainly due to the arrival of the new Chief Engineer and the hard work of Commander M’Mira.
He had decided to finally take a stroll, with Laddie, and head for the Engineering Hub to finally introduce himself and give the Lieutenant a pat on her back for a job well done. Refelian and his companion entered the Hub and headed for the CEO’s office. He tapped the door chime and waited for permission to enter.
Having been sitting and finishing up her final repair reports, Catrina was startled at the chime at her door. She had no idea who it actually would be, as her team was actually doing their normal daily duties now. Looking towards the door, she took a sip of her hot cocoa before answering. "Come in."
Laddie entered the office first as Refelian was still struggling to get going. When he was finally through the door the Captain smiled, “Lieutenant Tendai is it?” He asked.
Seeing Laddie come in first, she figured it could only be one of two people based on what she'd heard. When she saw the Captain moving slowly through the door, she got up to help him a bit. "Captain! I hadn't heard you were out and about yet. Yes, that's me, though most call me Cat."
“I’m getting there slowly.” He said with a small chuckle. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, my apologies that I wasn’t about when you arrived but being shot tends to slow one down. I’ve heard some glowing reports from most of the senior on how you’ve come in and cracked on with getting us operational.”
"And you as well. I understood once I got here that I might not see you for quite some time." Cat helped him over to one of the chairs. "I am glad that they've given me good reports. I've just been working almost non-stop trying to get everything done." She gave a small chuckle, "Seen more crossed wires in the last few days than I have my whole life."
“If my first officer had it her way, I’d be wrapped in cotton wool and kept in my quarters 24/7. There is work to be done so I shall do my best to do it. Besides, walking is good for building my muscles up again, so the Doctor tells me anyway.” Harry said, “I can see how busy you’ve been, the Station has been completely transformed. I’m actually excited for the future of Faltan Station thanks to your efforts.”
"Then would you rather take a nice slow walk? I don't mind. Honestly? It'd be nice to do so. Or, we can sit and talk over things." Cat couldn't help but smile. "And I figured why just fix things? May as well make this place seem like a home to those of us living here. The view deserves it."
“Sit sounds good.” Refelian said as he made a beeline for the nearest chair. The stroll over to the Engineering hub had tired him. Laddie looked concerned as he followed his master to the chair and laid down next to it. “I like your thinking, this is more than just a Starfleet installion, it’s a home for everyone here.”
Going to the replicator to get them some water, Cat came back over and sat in another nearby chair, handing over a glass to him. “We never know how long we will be here, and making it feel like a Starfleet installation is just boring.” She took a sip of her own water and looked around, “I can’t do much about the decor though. But, I think I only have one place left to visit and then reports to turn in.”
The Captain nodded his thanks at the Engineer before taking a sip of the water. “Have you been told about the docking bays on the Luna?” He asked, with everything that had been going on Faltan Stations docking bays on Luna would probably been forgotten about.
Catrina bit her lip and shook her head. “I haven’t, only about the station. I take it that was something I needed to know about?”
Harry couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Yes, there’s 3 docking bays on Luna. That’s also your next of the woods. No rush to get them operational just yet but they will need looking at in the near future. Had you not realised why you have so many engineers?”
“More work for later then it seems. And my team has been small, at least it seems that way. Granted, I’ve been so busy that I might not have noticed.” She took another sip of her own water. “Also this is my first chief position and I sort of got thrown into a mess.”
“A massive learning curve for you then. You seem to have done very well and have everything organised efficiently.” Harry said with a smile. “Don’t worry about the Docking bays yet, we’ll sort them once the Station is fully operational.”
"It isn't horrible, though there are a few people who...okay...one person...who isn't happy with me, no matter what I do it seems." Catrina shrugged a little. "You mention more work coming up, I can't help but worry about it."
The Captain frowned, concerned about what has been going on. “Who, Lieutenant?”
Cat looked down at her hands with a heavy sigh, not wanting to throw anyone under the shuttle. But, if she didn't say anything, it wouldn't get any better. "Commander M'Mira. Commander Prescott had said to ask her if I needed any help and such, so I did since I needed to know the layout of the wire crossing when I first got here. The argument..wasn't pretty."
Refelian was shocked and surprised when he heard his Ops chief’s name mentioned. “Really? I’m very surprised, my dealings with the Commander have been good. Though, the past few days have been stressful on the command team. Have you spoken to Commander Prescott about this?”
"Honestly, Captain, I haven't had any time. I've been working nearly non-stop." She shook her head. "Commander M'Mira was angry at me for showing up late and wouldn't let me explain why. She didn't seem to want to be bothered."
The Captain nodded his understanding, “Perhaps the Commander was feeling the pressure of being temporary first officer. I’ll have a word with her though. I don’t want things to get out of hand.”
Cat nodded. "I just don't want any trouble is all. Just want to make sure everything is working. I guess it could have been pressure, but she didn't even want to give me a chance."
“Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I’ll speak to Commander Prescott and Commander M’Mira about this, Hopefully it won’t be repeated again.” Refelian said as he rose to his feet. “I best let you get back to work. Again, you’ve done an outstanding job, Lieutenant.”
"Thank you, Captain. I'll do what I can to finish it up later today. I think I have a few more people to visit and make sure everything is good to go." She stood up and offered her arm. "I'll help you far as you want me to though."
“I’ll be ok once I get going.” Harry said with a chuckle. “Have a good day, if you need anything just let me know.” He said before slowly turning and headed for the door. “Laddie, come.” He said to his red setter who quickly bounded over to his companions side.
