Mission: Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Briefing Room, Command Hub
Timeline: MD01 - 0930

Captain Refelian sat at the head of the large briefing room with a steaming cup of coffee as he waited for the senior staff to arrive. They had a lot to go through so hoped everyone arrived promptly.

Mint came in, carrying her own mug of coffee. She looked tired and deep in thought when she came to a stop near one of the couches. "Captain," she said before plopping down onto the couch.

Matching the other two, Catrina came in with her hand wrapped around a cup of coffee, a PADD under her arm. She gave a small smile to the other two and found herself a seat before taking a slow sip.

M'Mira walked in and immediately spied Catrina. She held back a hiss as she was distracted by the scent of the room. M'Mira stopped and visibly sniffed. Something was not quite right. She could not place it. She suspected that it had to do with the combination of all the different scents in the room. Her tail swayed side to side lazily as she prowled the room to the place next to Mint on the couch after she said, "Morrrning, Captain. Mint." There was no acknowledgement whatsoever of Catrina's existence.

Refelian sighed with disappointment as M’Mira and Catrina seemed to still be having difficulties getting on. ’Perhaps they need their heads banging together or an assignment together.’ He could help but a let a little smirk creep across his face at that thought.

Cat’s eyes watched M’Mira as she came in and then went back to looking at the PADD she’d brought in. Her facial expression didnt’t change. She wasn’t going to deal with anyone being annoyed with her, she was in a mostly good mood.

Calista entered the briefing room, she set down her things at her seat before wandering over to the Captain, medical tricorder in hand. "Don't mind me." She said with a smirk. "Any issues?"

“I’m fine, Doctor, stop fussing.” Refelian said with a roll of his eyes. He understood he had a job to do but in front of the senior staff wasn’t one of them.

Sam walked into the room and took a seat at a vacant end of the table. Clad in his duty uniform, he wore a black flight jacket over it, emblazoned with a name patch and wings on one side. Providing a silent nod to the rest of the group, Sam leaned forward in the chair.

Colonel Haversford followed Major Braddock into the briefing. He assumed they’d all been called here for the up coming ‘Grand Opening’ of Faltan Station. He took a seat next Braddock and waited for the briefing to start.

Carrying a datapad and a cup of coffee, Mika walked in a short moment later. Spotting Cat, he went over and sat down next to her.

Cat gave Mika a small smile, taking a sip of her coffee as she giggled at the doctor scanning the captain.

The Major was not far behind Colonel Haversford in the train of arrivals, the Major had finally gotten a chance to see who else was on the station other than the Marines he already knew. He than made his way inside, ducking slightly to avoid hitting his head on the bulkhead. Once inside, the large German man scanned the area before taking a seat to the right of Colonel Haversford.

Colonel St Clair entered the briefing room, his nose in a PADD with the latest journals from JAGC, he glanced up and nodded before returning his attention to the PADD and moving on to the latest report of shake ups at JAGHQ.

Jonah entered the briefing room. New to most of the people there, he nodded to everyone silently. He was still in the process of revamping the security rotations and had yet to meet with his only permanent subordinate, Lieutenant Hakin. He carried a mug of replicated Raktajino, disappointed he couldn't find the real thing on Faltan. Fortunately, Lieutenant Jek'Lar had provided him with viable seeds and taught him how to cultivate them.

The Captain stood up, “Thank you all for coming.” He said with a smile as he glanced around the room. The only notable absentee was Dufrai which he wasn’t impressed about but would deal with after. “Before I begin is there any station business anyone would like to bring up?”

"Our medical hub is officially up and running, so should anyone else require me putting them back together we have the facilities to do it." Calista reported only half kidding.

“Excellent news, Doctor Aereen.” Harry replied with a nod and a smile. “Well done to you, Lieutenant Tendai and Commander M’Mira for working hard to get that completed.”

Looking up at hearing her name, Cat gave a smile, though a glare to M’Mira, “Thank you, Captain. There are still a few power fluctuations, but nothing that will inhibit the station and its daily routines.”

"If I might, sir, I'm currently working through crew shift rotations and personnel skill sets. I don't think the previous rotations were adequate to Faltan's needs and some personnel were under utilized," Jonah paused and turned his gaze to the XO. "I'll be making the suggested changes available for your review as soon as possible, Commander. I'd also like to take the shifts from three rotations to four, to maximize personnel use and station efficiency."

A prudent course of action especially with the current situation with the Faltan’s, but he decided to let his First Officer make the call as it was her area to deal with.

Mint seemed to take slightly longer processing this information than usual, and yawned before she responded. "Yes, I felt we weren't a peak efficiency staffing wise, but unfortunate events," her eyes flicked over to Harry briefly, "kept me from assessing our staffing situation. I will await your suggestions." She gave Masters a smile and nod.

"I'll be reviewing the current rotations, current personnel files and shift assignments. Shouldn't take more than two days, Commander, before I have a full report on your desk."

"Thank you Lieutenant," Mint raised her coffee mug at Masters before taking a sip. "I look forward to your report."

"I've been in contact with several legal groups in Faltan City. It looks like the investigation, what passed for it, has already been closed. The government seems perfectly happy to just say it was Starfleet and leave it at that. The civilian legal experts I talked to found this very strange as Faltan justice is very centred on the specific assailant being held to account. Unfortunately there seems to be little that can be done to convince the government otherwise. The new governor seems to be cementing support behind her very quickly." St Clair reported.

Refelian rolled his eyes, just as he suspected, the incident was brushed under the carpet and will hopefully forgotten about quickly. “Is there anything they could do from a legal point of view? Maybe put some pressure on the Governor?”

"Not really, Sir." The Colonel replied, "The Treaty signed with the Faltans for use of this base pretty clearly put it's in their jurisdiction. I think it might actually be part of why they aren't pursuing an individual. If they were to accuse someone that individual would have a right to defend themself, they would have a right to review the investigation and present evidence counter to the government claims. By not charging anyone it's in essence a negative PR campaign against Starfleet instead of an actual criminal trial."

The Captain nodded, he understood the game they wanted to play. “Very well, let me know if anything changes.” Refelian said.

Catrina listened as she finished her coffee, glancing to all of the officers except for M'Mira. "Anyone having anything that engineering needs to handle, send it my way. We've likely got a few things lingering out there that were small enough to get missed."

“The sonic shower in my quarters keeps playing up from time to time. Nothing urgent but if you spare someone at some point to have a look am that would be great, Lieutenant.” Refelian mentioned.

Raising an eyebrow, Cat nodded, surprised that was the only thing brought up. "I'm sure we can get someone down there quickly, Captain."

Having been frowning at the Colonel's report, Mika managed a smile over at Cat. "Everything's been running great in Science since we last talked."

Cat returned the smile, "Glad to hear it."

Mika continued to smile over to her, for another moment, before directing over to the Captain, "Is there anything you would like science to specifically focus on right now, Sir?"

“I’ll get to that shortly, Doctor.” Refelian replied to his Chief Science Officer.

M'Mira could not believe Cat. She was taking credit for all of the work that M'Mira had done before Cat even arrived! M'Mira gave a look at Cat that would have killed her had her eyes been phasers and then distinctly snuffed and looked away. "I believe that station operrrations is still my domain and I will take carrre of these minorrr issues that the Chief Engineerrr has not been able to handle despite my nearrrly week of worrrk before she got herrr."

If Mint was paying attention, she could see that M'Mira was already utilizing one of her sister's nail designs on her trademark red nails.

Mint contained the smirk at the mention of Refelian's shower acting up, but didn't contain the roll of her eyes when M'Mira made the snarky remark. "The replicator in my office needs some attention as well," she tossed out before giving M'Mira a significant look.

Catrina's eyes caught M'Mira's eyes and sighed. Her tone was professional, and she tried to hide her frustration. "I do appreciate what you did while I was delayed, Commander."

As he looked between the three women, Mika's brow was furrowed due not only to the interruption, but the dynamics between them.

Decidedly ignoring Cat, M'Mira tried to decipher Mint's look and failed. "I'm certain that we will get your food replicator up to snuff in no time. Unfortunately, as you know, there have been other priorities. I will manage your sonic shower, as well, Captain. That's an ops job, not left to engineering."

Refelian shrugged, “I’m not fussed who sorts it, it needs to be looked at.” He said before clearing his throat. “Right, moving on to station business. The USS Osiris, Anubis, Isis and Medway will be making regular runs to Faltan Station dropping off further supplies and crew as needed. Along with these ships, the USS Kumari, Astraea and Hypatia are being billeted at the station. Captain Colburn will be transferring the Klingon Theatre Headquarters to the Station, so we’ll need to find an office for him as he has some important missions which he’ll need space to plan.

“I’ve also received word that the Federation News Service is sending a reporter to Faltan to report on the goings on within the Raeyan Sector block. Please give them every curtesy, I don’t have a problem with any of you speaking to the reporter but I ask you that classified information should not be discussed with them. I’d also not like to read what I’ve said in these meetings the next day in the FNS news bulletin. If they ask about my views or how I’m handling something direct them to me.”

Cat was getting frustrated with M'Mira, and the fact that she was trying to take all of the repairs out of engineering's hands. She'd deal with all of that later. She listened to what the captain was saying about what was going to happen. Rubbing her temple a bit, she set the PADD she'd been working on aside and paid more attention than she had been. She didn't want to deal with the FNS, as she was never a fan.

Sam groaned and stopped an expletive just before it passed his lips. Reporters were reviled by a substantial portion of the war fighting portion of the Fleet due to their incessant need to poke their nose into places where it didn’t belong and judging by the reactions of those in the room, this was no different. Making a mental note to ask the Security Chief to ask for more flightline guards, he remained silent and waited.

Nodding as Refelian noted off all the ships that would become regular traffic for them, Mint tried her best not to yawn. She made a mental note of Colburn's needs and knew that M'Mira would be quick to sort something out for him. More ships and the Klingon Theatre HQ would mean a lot of extra work, but she was confident they would take it all in stride. However, Mint's brow furrowed at the mention of the FNS reporter, not that she had a problem with them, but more because she would if they reported anything to do with her relationship with Refelian.

“Alright before we move on to more important business would anyone like to take a short break or grab a drink?” The Captain asked as he glanced around the briefing room.

"I would," Mint was the first to speak up, and was already on her feet heading for the replicator to grab another coffee. She didn't know why she was so tired, but she knew the caffeine helped keep her awake and kept the headaches at bay.

"I would be most pleased if you made me another White Rrrusian with Extrrra Crrream, Captain," M'Mira told him with a large grin. "You did quite well the firrrst time that you did that forrr me. I would hope that it is not a fluke."

“You know where the replicator is, Commander.” Refelian replied unamused at being spoken to like a maid for the Caitian.

M'Mira's grin turned into a pout. Why doesn't he want to get me my drink? Here, I gave him such a nice compliment and now he is not making me another one. What's wrong? She refused to get up, crossed her arms, and did not move, choosing to go thirsty instead.

Catrina couldn't help but stifle a laugh, hearing Refelian speak to M'Mira. She herself went and got some tea from the replicator and let it cool as she held the mug in her hands, going back to her seat next to Mika.

"Captain, I'd like to take this opportunity to bring up a project we're starting in Science, restoring the arboretum," Mika said. Considering the short break, he thought it might be a good time to bring up the announcement. "We're gladly accepting any help, volunteers from other departments, who may like to help out in their free time."

Refelian nodded his approval, “Sounds like an excellent idea. I suggest put out a station wide mail asking for volunteers. It might get some of the civilian population involved.”

"I agree, and thank you, Sir," Mika smiled.

Hearing what Mika had said as she came back with her tea, Cat gave a smile. “You can count me in, Lieutenant. It might be nice to get my hands dirty in something other than engineering.”

"I look forward to seeing you there," Mika replied, and although it wasn't obvious, really liking her, meant that in more ways than one.

Mint gave Cat a smirk at her choice of words. "I would love to help out as well," she said. "Community projects are always the best!"

Mika turned to her, "alright," really appreciating her attitude. "I'll have a schedule up by tomorrow morning."

Cat smiled to them both and made her way back to her seat with her drink.
