Mission:
Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Hangar Bay, Faltan Station
Timeline: MD02 - 1000 Hours
Another shuttle had arrived with more people arriving. Some just passing through for other transports or shuttle’s, some here to visit and some just for the official opening of the Station.
Refelian spotted Commander M’Mira and headed over to her. “How’s it going, Commander?”
"Captain!" the startled Caitian responded, her nose sticking in a PADD as she continued to monitor arrangements. "It goes well. I believe that I have the perrrfect set of arrrrangements. Too much time has gone by since I last had to host a parrrty. We should do this much morrre often. How arrre you?"
“That’s good to hear. I’m doing ok, apprehensive about having these people here but at the same time excited.” Harry replied with a smile. “Who has arrived already?”
"Apprrrehensive? Why?" M'Mira asked curiously. "So far, your daughterrr has come. No big names yet. We expect Admirrral Banda and several Ambassadorrrs in a few hours. I am hopping about like a kangaroo."
“I don’t want these people to become targets for Faltan extremists.” Harry said as he watched the people stream passed them. “Excellent, everyone is good spirits? No problems so far?”
“No, otherrr than the decorrrations seem to be behind schedule. I could take carrre of those, if you wish. I always knew how to thrrrow a good parrrty!”
“I believe Commander Prescott and Lieutenant Tendai are sorting the decorations for the occasion.” Harry replied. “Any problems while you’ve been down here?”
"Prrroblems?" M'Mira wondered. "What kind of prrroblems would you think that I would be having?" She paused for a moment before asking, "Should I be awarrre of something that I am not, Captain?"
“I meant problems with the public.” Refelian replied. “I gave this assignment to you as you’re probably the best person to meet and greet. However there will always be people who aren’t happy with something.”
M'Mira puffed proudly and purred, "So farrr, so good. I believe you have a saying to warrrd off evil thoughts: knock on wood? Silly saying but I think it applies. I am morrre concerrrned with all the ships arrrrriving timely. If they don't, that may put people in a sourrr mood to starrrt."
“Indeed, I’ll speak to Commander Prescott see if she can try her best with keeping things moving, we should be ok unless we get a drama queen wanting all the attention.” Harry replied.
"Arrrre you awarrre of one coming?" M'Mira asked concerned. Fretting, she asked, "Is therrrre someone that rrrrequirrres special attention? I know that I have one special guest." M'Mira did not know whether the Captain had yet met with his daughter and grandchild.
“I don’t know of any but these things never go to plan, you’ll always have one that needs to cause a fuss for no reason.” Harry said with a shrug, “Fingers crossed it won’t happen.”
M'Mira nodded. "Well, all the drrrinks are synthehol, so we should not have somebody rrruining matters because of drrrunkenness. I've separrrated obvious foes like Rrrromulans and Klingons and Vulcans. I'm perrrsonally grrreeting everrry Ambassadorrr and Admirrral. What morrre can I do?" she asked curiously.
“It sounds like you have everything under control. Which is why I asked you to meet and greet, I knew you were well suited to the task.” Refelian said with a smile. “The Klingon Ambassador’s K’vort cruiser will be landing at some point today. I’ll be asking Security to keep it guarded after what happened to the Romulan Embassy. If you feel there’s trouble brewing, get some extra security down here, either Lieutenant Masters or Major Tritter should be able to prove extra personnel if required.”
"Don't rrremind me about the Rrromulan Embassy. I was the last to see the Ambassadorrr's wife alive. I'm just grrreatful that nobody thought I did anything. With you having been injurrred and me and Mint rrrrunning things, that was all I could think of.... Glad that's all clearrred up."
“It all came out in the wash though.” Refelian said grinning. “You both did an excellent job, I know the Station is in good hands if I’m not here for a while.”
M'Mira's tail swung from side to side in a lazy but happy arch. She turned her head away bashfully and shuffled her feet. "Thank you for yourrrr confidence in me and Mint, Captain. I apprrreciate that."
“It’s well deserved and earned, Commander. Having you both here at my side gives me the confidence to do my job to the best of my ability without having to look over people's shoulders.” The Captain replied.
Do I dare tell him how incompetent that his Chief Engineer is? Mint might kill me. Damn it! The things we do in the name of friendship. "I apprrreciate that, Captain. Howeverrr, I think I have had enough of being the executive officerrr forrr awhile. I could use a good nap and time as numberrr two."
Refelian smiled, “Hopefully after the ceremony you’ll be able to nap more and find the grove of being second officer. Looks like another shuttle is coming in, I’ll leave you to your work, Commander.”
M'Mira's eyes bulged and her tail swished anxiously. "Yes, sirrr! I'm on it!" She rushed to the docking port, while primping herself so that she looked her absolute best when the new guests arrived.
