Mission:
Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Chief of Security office, Security Hub
Timeline: MD02 - 1000 Hours
Captain Refelian entered the Security Hub, he glanced at the guards in the main entrance and smiled as he wandered past as he headed towards Lieutenant Masters office at the top of the hub.
Upon reaching the Chief of Security’s office he pressed the door chime and waited for permission to enter.
Jonah touched the computer screen, closing the open file on criminal activities in the sector so he could give the commanding officer his full attention. Touching another button in the LCARS display, the double doors opened. "Afternoon, captain," he said, standing.
“Afternoon, Lieutenant. Apologies for disturbing you but I just wondered how preparations are going for the up coming opening ceremony.” The Captain asked as he glanced around the Lieutenant’s office.
Jonah nodded as he moved to the largest display in the room. "As well as expected, sir. The majority of security teams will be visible at the ceremony," Jonah indicated the central hub.
"Smaller teams will be deployed to secure the surrounding buildings and there will be some smaller, unobtrusive teams circulating on the grounds. Major Tritter's teams will be providing additional coverage from ideal vantage points. Hidden, of course, from the general public."
Refelian nodded as he looked at the plans. “You seem to have the bases covered. Did you have a backup plan incase anything does happen? I’m hopeful it won’t but with the recent activity of the Faltans this is the perfect opportunity to take action, hence why I’m being extra cautious. We have too many VIPs here to get sloppy.”
"I'll have main entrances and exits covered by senior personnel. Any additional escape routes will be closed and portable force field generators installed so that they can be activated at any given moment, adding another layer to block escape routes. You've arranged overhead support through the Marines, but I was thinking we might want to deploy transport inhibitors, in case someone does have a ship in orbit and tries to escape that way.," Jonah answered. He wondered if the CO would think this was too much, but he had to cover all the bases. Or at least make the suggestions to do so.
Jonah also touched the display again. It shifted to display the underground utilities. "We also have another point of access or egress in the tunnel systems running under Faltan Station. I think it would be wise to consider a complete shutdown of all entry points to and from Faltan via those tunnels and viaducts."
“I agree with the transport inhibitors get them set up. Make sure the Diplomatic Hub is guarded around the clock. I don’t want anyone sneaking in when no one is looking good.” The Captain said before looking at the display, “Of course, there’s probably a maze down there with plenty of ways to get in or out. Is your department ok to handle that or should I pass that over to the marines? I know you’re stretched pretty thinly with all this ceremony business.”
Jonah nodded. "There are a limited number of entrances and exits, which I think can be effectively sealed with portable forcefield generators. However, I think we might be better off with a joint Marine/Security force in the Diplomatic Hub. I'd also like to visit the ambassadors to discuss in their personal security arrangements. Hopefully they won't need supplementation." Jonah knew this was going to be a big event with plenty of opportunity. He remembered his own training and considered how best to counter any actions he might have taken as a field operative for SFI.
Captain Refelian nodded his agreement. “I pretty sure the Romulan Ambassador has already beefed up his security force after the events of the other week but it might be worth checking with him. Might be nice to know how many guards they actually have in the embassy of theirs. As for the Cardassian Ambassador, I know they have people, but I don’t know what their security situation is.”
"I'll schedule appointments with both of them. I imagine the Klingons will consider it rude of me to ask about their security situation, so I'll make it a point to visit on another matter," Jonah answered, thinking of the araktajino seeds he wanted to germinate.
“Good plan.” Harry replied with a chuckle. “The Klingon Ambassador will be arriving today. His K’vort cruiser will be landing, make sure the ship is guarded. The Romulans were targeted, means the Klingons are also a target.”
"As far as I'm concerned, we're all targets, Captain, including you. I'd like it if you had an honor guard at the festivities, sir."
The Captain sighed as he thought. The Security Chief didn’t look like he was going to take no for an answer. “I don’t want an honour guard but I’ll allow some security to be close by, if that makes you feel any better.”
Jonah smirked and sighed inwardly. The captain had already been shot, what more did he need to convince him of the inherent danger? "I'll be on that personal detail, sir. I'm sure I can micromanage from your side. That will satisfy me."
The Captain nodded, “The only time you won’t be close is during the speeches of the ceremony. It’ll just be Admiral Banda and I on the stage.”
“Of course, Captain,” Jonah responded, already requesting the set up for the dais be forwarded to his office immediately. “I’ll make other arrangements for your safety during that time, sir.”
“It really isn’t necessary, Lieutenant, but I’m pretty sure I’m not going to win this argument, even if I order you,” Refelian replied with a smirk. “Take whatever measures you think are necessary but keep them out of sight. I don’t want make others feel uneasy.”
“I’ll be the model of discretion, sir,” Jonah assured the CO. “No one will know we’re there.”
“Very well, Lieutenant. I’ll leave you to continue you’re planning in peace. Keep me updated which the security measures.” Refelian replied.
“Of course, Captain. If you have any other suggestions, or need me to liaise with the Marines, let me know.”
"Good luck, Lieutenant." The Captain said with a chuckle before leaving the chief of security to his work.
