Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Diplomatic Hub
Timeline: MD03 - 2135 Hours
All of the smells wafting around the party finally started to win the battle and Mint had to get out of there. By the time she made it halfway to the exit, it was too late. The nausea escalated and she knew that if she didn't run now, she'd end up losing her lunch on someone's shoes. With rushed "excuse me"s and "sorry!"s, she pushed her way through the crowd and ran to the nearest bathroom.
Harry followed after Mint. He knew she was struggling with the early stages of pregnancy and wanted to make sure she was ok. He knew how subborn Mint could be so wanted to be there for her to help her if she needed it. He saw her disappear into a toilet, he wanted for a few minutes outside to allow her some privacy.
Coming out of the bathroom a moment later, Mint felt sweaty and gross. "I hate this," she muttered and leaned against the wall by the door. "You should go back to the party, I'm fine, just smells getting to me."
Harry smiled, “The first trimester is always bad. I’m fine here for the moment with you. The party won’t miss us for a few minutes.”
Mint shook her head and smiled at him. "You would know," she said in response to the first comment, then pulled the clips and bands holding her hair up out and ran her fingers through her hair. "Aaah... I was starting to get a headache from that... but really, don't stay out here too long with me, you'll be missed Mister Man-of-the-Hour."
“The ceremony and celebration is for the crew. Starfleet likes the pomp and ceremony, I do not.” He said with a smirk. “You are more important at the moment. I just wished we had more time to digest the news. This is ceremony has taken the shine off of something special.” He said as he gently pulled Mint close to him.
Mint wrapped her arms around him and smiled. "We will celebrate after we talk with Paloma," she leaned her head against his shoulder and enjoyed the fact that his 'smell' didn't affect her nearly as much as the perfumes and food scents. "That's one conversation I'm not looking forward to, to be honest."
Raised his eyes brows, “Hmmm, could be interesting, Horatio’s Aunt or Uncle being younger than him.” He said with a chuckle. “And quite possibly a different colour.”
"Ha, I hope not," Mint giggled into his shoulder. "It was not fun growing up green," she sighed and looked up at him. No longer caring who saw them, she kissed him gently before leaning back and smiling. "We probably should get back to the party..."
A voice suddenly came over the comms. “Roslyn to Captain Refelian. I’m sorry to interrupt the party, but we are receiving a distress call from the Medway.”
Refelian face dropped when he heard the word ‘Medway’ and glanced at Mint, before tapping his comm badge. “Refelian here, what’s the problem with the Medway?”
Roslyn's voice answered. "We only have a garbled message, Captain. It's from the outskirts of the system. But whatever it is, it doesn't sound good"
Hearing Medway, Mint's heart dropped. It leapt into her throat at the mention of 'it doesn't sound good'. "Harry," she said softly, placing a hand on his arm.
“The Minotaur should investigate.” Harry thought aloud before looking at Mint’s tummy. “Perhaps Commander M’Mira or myself should Command her on this mission.”
"No, I can do it," Mint frowned at him. "You need to remain here and wrap up this celebration, and M'Mira can come with if you're really worked about it, but I can still command the Minotaur."
Harry nodded. “Lieutenant Roslyn, have the Minotaur crew report the ship. Commander Prescott will be taking it to investigate.”
A heavy sigh was heard but, "Acknowledged, Captain. It'll be ready to fly once they get there. Roslyn out."
Mint smiled sadly at Harry and pulled him into a hug. "Don't worry, I'll be fine, and we'll sort out the problem with the Medway."
Harry nodded, “I need to speak to Paloma and tell her, before she finds out from someone else.”
"Definitely," she nodded and kissed him. "Go, talk to Paloma, I'll assemble the Minotaur crew and get on our way. I'll keep you updated."
“Good luck and stay safe.” He said after kissing her. He stroked her tummy before heading back to the party to find Paloma.
"I will," Mint smiled as his hand ran over her stomach. As he walked away though, her smile faded into a frown. Turning on her heel, she headed straight for the Minotaur. She would await the crew there.
