517 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Outskirts of Faltan Station
Timeline: MD02 - 1230 Hours

Captain Refelian approached Major Tritter, who was stationed on the edge of the station’s boundary. “How’s it going out here, Major?” He asked.

The Major heard the Captain's foot steps, he immediately turned that direction and locked focus onto the Captain. He than stated, "It is going well Captain, largely uneventful at this time" The Major spoke in a delibrite yet confident tone as he addressed the Captain.

“I’m glad to hear it. I’m getting similar reports from everyone so I’m hoping it’s going to stay that way.” Replied Refelian. “How often are you doing sweeps of the perimeter?”

The Major nodded slightly to the Captain's statement, secretly he agreed but he knew better than to verbalize anything, for he may regret it. He than took a brief moment before answering the following question, "We vary them Captain, but they run anywhere from one to three hours apart, and we vary how they are run" The Major spoke with a very matter of fact tone.

The Captain liked the answer, keeping the same routine would mean opportunities open up for those who are watching. “Excellent. And snipers are in place around the Station?”

The Major nodded slightly to the Captain, he than added, "Yes, both ground level and elevated positions, positions change and are varied. Since we don't know the exact nature of our enemies, it is best to keep them guessing Captain"

“Excellent, predicable routines are a massive error and lead to mistakes which can be exploited. Do you have teams on standby?” The Captain asked.

The Major took a moment, he than added, "Exactly Captain and yes, we do. We keep one platoon on standby and than two others ready to back fill if needed, although not ideal, due to man power, we only keep one platoon on an awake and ready to go status, the others are ready to go within five minutes of the alarm going off" The Major spoke in a very matter of fact fashion, his heavily German accented voice had a unique way of accenting his serious nature.

“I appreciate the scale of what I have asked. I know your troops aren’t here to keep the station safe but it’s nice to utilise them in functions like this.” Refelian said. “Have you settled into the Marine barracks yet?”

Tritter stated the following to the Captain, "I think the troops are enjoying it, they would be going stir crazy otherwise. I have not had time yet to Captain, more important matters have required my attention"

“Of course, we’ve certainly kept you busy over the last few weeks.” Refelian said with a smile. “If there’s nothing else I’ll leave you to your work.”

He pondered for a moment and nodded slightly to the Captain, he than stated, "Thank you Captain", he knew he had plenty on his plate to handle, but he wasn't going to be completely... avoidant, the Major was not a very social guy, but he was doing his best to be... social for lack of a better term.
