Mission: Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Chief Engineer's Office
Timeline: MD06 - 1130

Cat had been working ever since leaving the meeting with Mint and M'Mira. Her night before had been amazing other than what she'd seen which hadn't been a dream at all. But she wasn't going to tell Sarah what she saw, at least not now. Maybe at some point. There were more things to tell her as it was, so she'd asked her to come to join her in her office for lunch. Granted, there was no way for Cat to know if anyone else on the station beside Eleanor would know Sarah was even back yet.

But she had lost track of time and was continuing to work, not realizing she was running into the time she'd told Sarah to be there. Between the exploding Klingon ship that was now part of what she had to investigate, and finding out what all the second officer of the station really had to do. She wasn't completely sure she was up for it, but she'd said she would.

Still trying to wake up, Sarah was enjoying her day off until she had to return to the field again. For a change, refreshing look and rare for even her. Sarahw as out of uniform and in an actual summer dress. With a large hat on, she walked like a diva into the office. No one really asked why she was here, what she was doing there, just gazing at her arrival. She leans against the door of Cat's office "Do I disturb you?"

A smile crept onto Cat's face as she heard the voice at the door, realizing now she'd lost track of time. Looking up, she was stunned to see Sarah in the outfit she was in. "You'd never disturb me, Sarah, you know that. You're welcome to come in, though I don't mind gazing at you for a bit longer either." This was exactly who she needed to see, get away from station work for a while.

"Is that so..." Sarah smiled softly back at Cat and walked into the office as the door closes behind her and she leans onto the table close to Cat's desk "And why do you want to gaze at me with those naughty eyes of yours" She winks at her "But I do see you are quite busy trying to get this old base back on its feet" She sighs looking around seeing the blueprints everywhere.

"Never too busy for you," Cat said as she pushed aside some of the information that was spread across her desk. "Not even trying to get the base back on its feet this time. Sorting out a Klingon ship explosion." Got out of her seat and went over to Sarah, taking hold of her hands, "Not engineers work I know but...it is command work..." she hadn't even had a chance to send Sarah a message about her new position, and had planned to tell her at lunch as it was.

Grabbing her hands as she sighs at that "Command job? Don't tell me that the uppers dragged you in the same crap I am doing right now?" Sarah said with a shrug "Plus yea, I heard about the Klingons arrival. They are not pleased I heard. Raven told me that they wanted more intel from the Death Squad, dangerous grounds for me if it leaks out to much" Sarah points out

Cat nodded slightly, "Mint made me second officer this morning with the captain leaving to care for his family. Gave me this to figure out, but you already seem to know more about it than I do." She shook her head, "Sorry, I didn't want this lunch date to be about work. All of it can wait, as I'd rather just spend the time with you."

"Dear, I am an intel operative and I need to know things" Sarah shrugs at the leaving of Refellian, in a way she expected it. But to leave Presscot alone in her condition? Typical men move to leave a woman in her situation behind "I am here right now, got the whole day off and yet got to leave tonight for another assignment in the field" She placed her hand on Cat's cheek and smiled "You seemed troubled..."

"No, not troubled just...I wish you didn't have to leave so soon." Cat's hand went up to meet Sarah's against her cheek. "I don't want to hear you have gone missing again or worse. I...I can't lose you again, Sarah." The dream she'd had the night before was still fresh in her mind, and this is what was troubling her. But she didn't want to say anything, to bring up the memories for Sarah of what had happened.

Giving her a soft kiss on the lips "I also know when you are lying love, but I wont force it out of you" She smiled and pushed herself from the desk walking to the door "Lets get that lunch or before we know it its dinner" She smiles at that not responding to plausible death part as she knew better that she was already gone the last time, if Vega was not around.

Returning the kiss, Cat knew she didn't want to lie to Sarah, but she didn't not want to pull her through her own past either. It was eating away at her, not telling what she'd seen. "If it were dinner that'd mean you were closer to leaving," she said softly and followed. "Though, lunch is already ready for us, if you don't mind eating outside."

"You got a spot in mind? I am rather unfamiliar with the station as I left quite at once" She pointed out leaving the office and winks at some engineers walking to the exit of the building "I somehow am attracting attention, no I idea why" Sarah smirks a bit at that and looked at Cat "Come on, keep up the pace, I am on heels here and you are slacking behind" She laughs as she did were medium size heels.

"Got a spot outside picked out, though you won't need those heels. Thought we could enjoy the fresh air and sit out in a secluded area, just us. Nothing and no one to bother us, just time to ourselves." Cat smirked and kept up the pace with Sarah, "Okay, so I setup a picnic, but the part about no one there to bother us is completely true."

Sarah smiled at that idea "That...is pretty romantic" She complimented and followed now Cat to the area she was referring to "So what else is new in the great adventure of Tendai? Being promoted, getting a new job...well more work actually. Having her girlfriend back at her side" She winks at her and let the sun gently burning onto her skin, she got used to it.

Leading Sarah off to the secluded area she had spoken about, the blanket was already laid out for them, but all that was on it was a simple PADD. With a slight smirk, Cat kissed Sarah's cheek before grabbing the PADD. A few taps on it and their picnic lunch arrived. "Getting back into relationships after not having one since I was a teen is a bit new to me but," she shrugged, "I guess call me an old romantic." She went back over and took Sarah's hands, leading her to the blanket before sitting down. "The promotion, the new job...don't care about those as much as having you back with me."

"With Vega, I suspect to stay around and coming back to you for quite some time" She said with a soft smile and getting escorted to the blanket as she sat down on her knees and looked at the picnic and smiled as if she forgot how it was to be treated as a human being "Does it bother you? My work?" She looked at her with worry in her eyes.

"I...I'd be lying if I said it didn't, just a little. Any time you are not here," Cat let her eyes meet Sarah's, "I always worry I won't see you again. And when you were missing I didn't know how I'd get through everything, so I buried myself in my work." She looked down and shook her head, "I never thought I could fall in love so quickly after the hell I'd been through in my life. Never thought someone would mean as much to me as you do."

"I guess those that have suffered something equal terms find each other much quicker" Sarah said in response looking away to enjoy the view "And I have seen things that are scar for life onto my flesh and soul" She shrugs at that "It is my job and I can't stop right now, I made that deal anyway with Vega" She pointed out looking back at Cat "But my feelings are real for you. It keeps me going"

Looking back to Sarah, Cat knew she was right on all of it. Didn't make it any easier to hear, but it still was true. "That's what has kept me going, knowing someone out there loves me, for me, and doesn't want to change me." Unable to hold it back, she leaned forward and let her lips meet Sarah's again, not holding back any amounts of passion that she held for Sarah.

Letting Cat kiss her with the full passion she held her hand in Cat hair and stopped the kiss and leans on her forehead "Is that what is bugging you? My job out there?" Sarah asked looking into her eyes "I am sorry that I give you such sadness and on that term, I am not the greatest girlfriend for you. I know that you have seen so much and I am not making it easier for you" Sarah said going through Cat's hair as she kissed softly her lips "I love you, know that and I do everything for you"

"It wouldn't matter what job you did, Sarah, I'd always worry," Cat said softly as she returned the second kiss. "I don't want anyone else but you," she put a hand to Sarah's cheek. "No one, not ever. Part of love is to worry when you don't know where someone is or what they are doing. Or even worrying when they are right there with you."

Sarah smiled at that and nodded " You are right, and you are making a habit out of it being right" She pointed out as she leans back and looked a the food "What did you actually replicate all?" Sarah asked grabbing a sandwich and looked at it as she grins at Cat "Don't tell me you woke up early this morning to get this ready?" Sarah noticed that Cat was out of bed earlier.

Cat gave a small shrug. "Not the reason I woke up early, but I did make it." She gave a small frown. "I thought you were still asleep, I'm sorry if I woke you up." She didn't go for any of the food yet but just watched her as she did.

Blinking a few times "You, made this?" Sarah looked at the food and was actually impressed as she took a small bite and lets the taste come over her as she blinks and looked at Cat "This...is delicious" She smiled taking another bite "I am a light sleeper, I take it that something was bothering you, but you did not want to talk about it"

"I did. I'm my own worst critic when it comes to what I make so..I'm glad that you like it." Picking up her own food, Cat took a bite, still watching Sarah before looking down at the food she held in her hand. "It..it's not that I didn't want to talk about it...I just um..." How did she do this? It was bothering her too much not saying something.

"Speak up kitty" Sarah said taking another bite with taste clearly read on her face.

Closing her eyes, Cat let out a shaky sigh, speaking very softly. "Hailstorm...I...I saw it..."

Letting the sandwich hover in her open mouth as Sarah did not react at once and pulled the sandwich back and shrugs slowly looking down to the floor "There goes a good lunch...did you sniff in my background or what?" Sarah said with a cold tone and still wonders how she knew about Hailstorm.

"I would never, Sarah. I...I was asleep and...Vega..." Cat couldn't hold it back and let a tear hit her cheek, "Vega showed me...I don't know how..."

She rolled her eyes and shrugs "Vega..." Sarah replied angry as she felt no response to it "Of course she is not responding....Hailstorm...what did you see?" Sarah shrugs and turned her attention to Cat as she catched the tear with her finger "You can tell me..."

"You, confronting a group, or them confronting you...whatever way it was. Something about genocide, they all rallied against you...You being relieved of duty by someone, Vic?" Cat ran a few fingers gently over where she'd seen Sarah stabbed in the shoulder, "Something about Claire?" Her hand moved to where the blade had been in Sarah's side, "The edge...I saw you..." She stopped and shut her eyes, more tears hitting her cheeks.

Sarah signs "Damn you Vega..." She mutters as she looked at Cat "Stop, you don't have to cry of my own past. I was young and foolish to think I could trust people judge on their skills and their methods. It took me forever to trust another being and carried myself under the workload to avoid my history" She shrugs "People died and are not remembered in the Dominion War. Hailstorm was my team, we did black operations within the borders of the Dominion and tried our best to save as many as we could" Sarah narrows her eyes "Until one day, I saw that the intelligence was wrong and Vic or also known as Victoria Saracenti my best friend, partly sister of me...turned her back against me"

Listening, very carefully, Cat still fought back the tears. Once Sarah had stopped talking, her hand moved through Sarah's hair in a comforting way, gazing into her eyes before resting her hand on the back of Sarah's neck, pressing her forehead against her's. "I...I didn't want to say anything after she showed me...didn't want to bring up your past. You didn't have to tell me if it brought back too many memories. But I couldn't lie to you and tell you nothing was wrong, that nothing was bothering me. You mean too much to me for me to do that."

“It’s okay, I just don’t want you to think differently about me because of what I did plus Starfleet rather forgets incidents like that. They created or let them create death squad” Sarah pouts a bit “To face them is not something easy and I got to endure it out there. Fighting old friends “

"I can't even begin to imagine..." Cat whispered softly. She stayed quiet for a moment and ran the name Victoria Saracenti over and over in her head. She didn't like thinking about how close Sarah was to the Death Squad members out there, it scared the hell out of her. And who knew for sure if they were all there on Faltan or some were elsewhere. She did her best to push the thoughts out of her head. "No matter what they did to you, I never will. I will always be right here for you, to love you, to care about you. I will never turn my back on you."

A soft smile came in reply as Sarah leans a bit forward and shrugs as if she was trying to hold back her own tears “Claire... a name I have not heard for quite some time. Real bad of me to forget such important name” Sarah struggles with the name and tried to eat it away with the sandwich.

Cat gently kissed Sarah's forehead and looked into her eyes. "I know that look, Sarah. Let the tears out if you need to. You don't have to tell me who Claire is if you don't want to, if it's too hard."

She exhale and shrugs “Claire Elizabeth Dufrai...” She spoke letting a tear roll down her cheek “In my field of work I need to do anything to stay under cover, even make love with another to keep my cover op. I can shower myself much as I want. I hated it... but seeing I lacked medical equipment I...”Sarah sighs.

It didn't take long for her to realize what was being said and Cat caught the tear with her thumb, wiping it away. "She's your daughter," she stated softly. Taking Sarah's face in her hands, she gently placed a kiss on her lips. "Shh, you don't have to say anymore, love, it's okay."

Taking the kiss gladly as she looked at Cat “She is, almost 13 years old and a strong young stubborn lady...” Sarah shrugs “But in my field of work I cannot take care of her, I visit her yes, but I cannot be with her” Sarah felt sad, her own daughter was so far away from her and Vega showed the weakness that Sarah carried deep inside of her.

"Maybe this is why Vega showed me, Sarah. So you didn't have to hide it anymore, at least not from me. Someone you can tell everything to..." Cat bit her lip. She wanted to be that person, be there through everything for Sarah.

“That might be it, I got so much to carry on my shoulders I would actually scare you away. But for some reason you are being sweet to me” She smiled and let’s her hand slide over Cat face as she felt more tears roll over her cheeks “I don’t deserve this, I am leaving my loved ones behind and I am a horrible mother on top of it” This was the first time she showed her woman side.

Cat shook her head and put her own hand on Sarah's cheek, letting the tears it it as they came. "You won't scare me away, Sarah Dufrai, never. Don't even think it for a minute." She brushed some of Sarah's hair out of her face, "You deserve all of it. You deserve to be loved, to be able to love. You aren't leaving anyone behind, and you are not a horrible mother. I..." She wasn't sure how to say what it was that she wanted to say.

Hating the fact that she was crying in front of someone, but Sarah felt relieved to know she was no longer alone walking this path “I ... thank you Cat” She lets out after a few sniffs “Let’s enjoy your hard work right?” She lift up a sandwich with a sad face trying to smile.

Biting her lip, Cat watched Sarah grab the sandwich and gave a soft sigh. "Sarah? D...I um.." She shook her head, "I want to help with Claire....if I can..." She reached for a sandwich but didn't move to take a bite of it.

Taking a small bite with the tears dropping on the bread “Claire is not here, she is far away from me for her own safety. If something would happen I ... I don’t know what I would do” Sarah said with another sniff.

"That's...that's why I want to help. I know it's a lot but at the same time I want to. With the Death Squad out there, is anywhere going to be safe unless she's..." Cat took a deep breath before saying the next part, "with someone you trust?"

Taking another bite of the sandwich, she loved the taste that was on it and talking with Cat did her somewhat good “She is safe, no one knows where even different name” Sarah pointed out and shrugs at that as if she disgraced her own name.

Cat picked at the bread on her sandwich. "If you want her here, somewhere close...she'd have a place to call home if you wanted her to, Sarah." Something had come over her, and she didn't want to see Sarah hurting in any way, including not having Claire here.

Sarah sight at that “Well that is the point, if she is here with me she be in danger and actually you are also in danger for loving me” Sarah spoke softly “I am a woman with baggage and truth to be told I want to retire and live a normal life with my daughter with me” Sarah spoke sadly.

Setting her sandwich aside, Cat moved closer to Sarah, "I don't care about the danger, Sarah. I care about you, and anything that is important to you." She took hold of her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "All I know is how I feel about you, and I don't care about the baggage, not one bit." She used her other hand and placed it under Sarah's chin, turning her to look into her eyes. "Your baggage? My baggage." She wanted to say, out loud, that she wanted the same thing Sarah did, and to be a part of it. But even what she was already saying was wanting to take a big step forward with the relationship.

The words did hit her, it was so long that Sarah felt warmth in her cold and scar heart. She smiled softly at Cat and slowly nodded as she falls softly onto her breast with her head and let the comfort of hearing her heartbeat "I know you will, I just hope you don't regret it by staying with me" She pointed out with a soft sniff.

Cat wrapped her arms around Sarah and laid her head down against her’s. “I’ll never regret it, love. You’ve got me and I’m not going anywhere, no matter what.”

That was reassuring in some way, but Sarah knew that one thing still bothers her "Thank you, I appraciate it that you think like that. But do keep in mind that I am an Intel girl. I work in the field and when Starfleet Intelligence states that I am done here, I have to go to the next location or planet" Sarah pointed out with a shrug on the end.

"We will cross that bridge when we come to it, Sarah." Cat didn't want to think about that. At that moment, she could only see her life with Sarah right now, and it didn't matter where it was at.

Smilng at those kind words, Sarah reached out and lets her hand slide over Cat cheek and pulls her gently to her giving her another passion kiss. Placing her head against that of Cat's "Thank you for everything"

Returning the kiss, Cat didn't dare let go of Sarah, she didn't want to. She let her forehead rest against Sarah's. "You're welcome. You're not going to lose me, Sarah, I promise you."

"I know, so shall we continue this picnic you worked so hard on or want to go on with the smooshing with each other" Sarah laughed a bit at that and looked at how cute Cat actually looked as she rubs a bit over her arm "I like you in an uniform"

"Oh really," Cat asked with a grin, "You look amazing in this dress." She ran her fingertips gently down Sarah's arm. "I'm okay with skipping the picnic part..." she whispered.

Looking a bit around and smiled at how quiet it was where they were as she took off her heels and smiled at Cat "I am all yours my love" She leans forward and took anotehr passion kiss on her lips and lets her hand slide pass her face and slide her fingers into Cat's hair as Sarah smiled biting a bit on her lip.

Cat laid back on the blanket that was laid out and pulled Sarah with her. She was glad she was in charge of Engineering and could take as long of a lunch that she wanted as she kept her lips locked onto Sarah’s, hands running down her sides.

Feeling her warm hands slide down her side as Sarah kissed Cat while holding both her hands on Cat's face to make her unable to escape it and smiled at her "Well someone has urges, missed me that bad?" She teased and sits back on cat hips and leans a bit on her knees.

“Considering you were considered missing for however long? Of course I misssed you.” Cat smirked and moved her hands to Sarah’s hips.

Smiling at her as Sarah places her hands at the side of the dress and checked the area one more time pulled her dress upwards revealing her black and dark navy blue lingerie. Smiling at cat as she leans forward to kiss her neck.

Cat’s eyes closed as Sarah started to kiss her neck. “And you wonder why I picked this area...” she giggled. “No one ever comes back here.”

Letting her slide over the jacket as Sarah clicks it open “Some quality time it is “ Sarah smiles continues her kisses and let’s her feelings flow further through her kissing going down cat neck as the area slowly fades away.
