Mission:
Mission 3: Diplomacy, what’s that?
Location: Transporter Bay
It was getting late in Lieutenant Radrick's shift. The lockdown was still in place; however, something caught his ears. The miners on Luna, specifically one miner, was looking to beam down to Faltan Station.
Oliver saw the notice for transport displayed. He opened the log to see who was requesting the transport.
The announcement was that it was Larry Pines, from the mining colony on Luna.
Oliver did not recall the name as some one he had meet yet but he was cleared for transport. He moved his hands to the transporter console and began slowly initializing the transport. He watched as the data containing the code that made up Larry Pines enter into the pattern buffer. He had only seconds to review the data as it appeared on screen. The computer would catch anything abnormal, but it would not be the first time Oliver had caught something before the computer did and saved someone life. His hands stayed steady as he controlled the flow from the pattern buffer onto the transporter pad.
He watched carefully as Larry Pines began to appear in front of him.
Larry Pines was a rough sort of man. He was clearly used to less than a civilized life, being a miner. Once he fully materialized, Radrick could see that he had a sack strung over a shoulder. "Tell me how to find a map of this station," he ordered Radrick.
Oliver did not mind Pines directness but he was slightly concerned that the scans did not pick up the contents of the bag he was caring. "I would be happy to. Perhaps I could also direct you to wear you needed to go. Are you looking for a place to rest and eat I could recommend some places." Oliver was not about to hand over any maps or information until he was aware of where this person was heading, but he kept a casual approach to the situation.
"I just need to find where the Ambassadors are located," Pines explained.
"Of course. Let me grab a data pad with a layout for you." Oliver returned to his station and began loading a data pad. "Just a moment longer the system seems to be having a delay," he lied in hopes to get a better read on Pines.
"So do you have a planned meeting with the Ambassadors." He felt like maybe he should not be prying into this considering he was not in charge of security but that bag not scanning really troubled him.
"I do, not that it is any concern of yours." Pines looked directly at Oliver and said, "If your computers and PADDs are malfunctioning, I will just go further on and I'm certain that someone could point me the way." He started walking to the door.
"I apologize...Just making small talk. It's finished now." Oliver handed the padd to him with a fake smile. He placed a tracking and recording subroutine in the devices systems secretly. Once this person left he would notify security of the situation.
Pines took the PADD and walked off without another word.
