Mission:
Mission 5 - The Cold War Ends
Location: Promenade
Timeline: MD04 - 1800
M'Mira was excited. There was no party like a station party and she was going to make certain that everyone on the station enjoyed it. She had an announcement made on the previous evening that anyone was welcome to attend.
The normally sedentary Captain was a whirl of activity in planning. Balloons were set up at strategic entry points. Tables had black linens and there were silver and red balloons attached to tables with centerpieces that had smaller candles that glowed in between crystals that reflected light outwards.
She made certain that the bar was open for all and that cocktails from every culture, especially Terran and Romulan were available for eating. A band played lively music in the background and a dance floor was set up for those inclined to dance.
Now that the time had arrived, M'Mira waited for guests to arrive and everyone to have an enjoyable time. Of course, M'Mira herself was dressed to the nines. She did not have to be, as she did not make this a formal party. However, she would not be caught dead as the host without elegant wear. She chose a dress that could be best described as having an Earth-Asian influence. It was a long silken red dress with golden floral patterns and altered so that her tail came out the back without creasing the dress. There was a slit on the left side for a leg to show itself but the slit, while it went up to her hip, was so narrow that it would only reveal more leg if she were to sit down. The dress had short sleeves that only went down slightly past her shoulders. She paired it with matching red pumps that had a kitten heel. On her tail were several decorative golden rings that were at varying heights. She had golden stud earrings at the top of her ears and large golden hoops at the bottom.
Kaylee was next to arrive, her dress was royal blue, a v neckline sleeveless and a slit in the dress which reached up her thigh on her left side. Over her shoulders she wore a black lace shawl which had floral pattern with tassels. Her hair was loose and flowing the right side of her golden hair was swept back with a barette which had flowers, the center of each flower, there were three of them with sapphires in the center. Simple heels adorned her feet, just an inch to allow graceful movements on the floor. Upon her wrist was a gold bracelet with small sapphires upon it. her neck was bereft of a necklace, she wanted to keep the neckline simple.
Kaylee looked with great delight at the party arrangements, the set up was really lovely. Her eyes settled upon M'mira and she made her way towards the Captain. "Hello M'mira; love how this looks." She gave a warm smile to M'Mira. "And you look fantastic!"
Jason arrived dressed in a slightly Vulcan-style, charcoal coloured suit and mauve coloured shirt. He had a glass of Romulan Ale in his hand.
"Bonsoir, Ladies." He said as he approached the CO and CSOO.
Kara was holding onto Tomer’s arm as they arrived at the party, having chosen one of his favourite dresses to wear she intended to enjoy the evening. “Let’s hope this is a fun night.” she smiled.
"How can it not be, Spots?" Tomer responded. "You have me with you. Do we ever not have fun together?"
M'Mira was pleased that Kaylee liked her decorating and her outfit. A grin spread on the Caitian's face from ear to ear. "I apprrreciate the compliments. You look fabulous, as well. It has been much too long since we have had a parrrty. I hope that you will have a good time."
The Captain then looked over at Lieutenant Beauvoir, "Good evening," she told the Lieutenant. "Glad you could join us tonight.
"Merci, Ma'am." Jason said. "Its a chance for me to get to know some people better.
"That's the entirrre point," M'Mira told Jason. "That and to have fun. We do not have enough fun, I do not think."
Tomer allowed himself to be dragged along by Kara. She was not showing her pregnancy yet and it was not something that he was ready to announce. Evil eyes might come along and that was forbidden. Of course, he knew that the Captain knew and a couple of others but he hoped they would keep it quiet.
He turned to his wife and said, "There is someone that I must introduce you to." He rarely got insistent with Kara, so he knew that she would follow. When they got to the Captain and Kaylee, he said, "Good evening, Captain. Good evening, Kaylee. As I promised you, here is my wife, Kara. She's the Chief Counselor." He gestured over at the partial Trill woman that was hanging onto his arm in the beautiful dress.
Kara offered a warm smile as she looked towards Kaylee. “It’s nice to meet you.”
"It is very lovely to meet you." Kaylee giving a warm smile. " I think this is a great way to meet everyone at this point."
Entering the room Aeryn couldn’t help but feel a little unsure of herself, the party was her idea so she couldn’t really not attend. She was going to try and make the most of it.
Jack had his Marines fanned out in a perimeter. Their orders were that anyone would be allowed in, however, they would be subject to search by the Kingsmen or Station Security. Recording devices of any sort would not be permitted. The Kingsmen were in standard duty uniforms and armed as a precaution. Rather than wear a comm badge they wore ear pieces that patched into the comm system. "Right all units check in." The five by fives came in one at a time. At the moment Brina stood at his side and Meatball had operational command on the line. "Well Captain, I do love it when a plan comes together. I can take the detail if you would like to go enjoy the party."
M'Mira looked at Jack wonderingly. "Arrre you cerrrtain that all of this securrrity is necessary?" She looked over at Tomer questinoningly.
"I do. You remember what happened on the planet," Tomer replied softly.
"Well, if you insist. I just wish it was not so obvious," M'Mira complained.
Brina gave a smile towards Meatball, "Yes if you would." giving him a look though that conveyed that she'll be on the look out as well for suspicious activity.
Kaylee responded to M'mira. "Captain, actually for this it is necessary to have this happening, as it will certainly show that you have taken your position more seriously. This will make you look rather good."
M'Mira sighed. She did like to look good but she hated the necessity. Reluctantly she said, "I know you'rrrre rrrright. It is necessarrry. I just wish that it was not."
Aer arrived a few minutes after the first wave of guests, pausing just inside the Promenade as the music washed over her. She was dressed simply but elegantly, a dark, flowing dress that draped comfortably over her frame, the cut chosen more for ease than display. The warmth of the station lights and the press of bodies had already brought colour to her cheeks, a faint flush she hadn’t entirely anticipated. She took a steadying breath, one hand briefly resting at her side before she moved forward.
She didn’t get far.
Meatball stepped into her path with exaggerated seriousness, already rolling his shoulders like he was settling into a proper search. Aer stopped dead, fixed him with a look that was equal parts fond and warning.
“Robert,” she said, voice low and dangerously calm, lips quirking despite herself. “I love you like a brother. Truly. But if you so much as think about patting me down, I will break your nose and make you explain it to my husband.” A beat. Softer, but no less firm. “And I am far too warm, far too pregnant, and far too tired for sausage-fingered heroics tonight.”
There was a flash of amusement in her eyes as she stepped past him, close enough to murmur, “You’re doing your job. Just… do it from over there.”
She moved on into the party proper, the tension easing from her shoulders as familiar faces came into view. Whatever this night became, for a little while at least, she would let herself be here—among friends, music, and light—before duty inevitably came calling again.
Jack practically burst out laughing after seeing the exchange between Meatball and his wife. He walked over to where Schiano had been checking some of the party goers. "Youze in for it big time top. Dat wife of yours is a firecracker." Jack tapped his old friend on the back. "Don't I know it. As you were Sergeant."
