Mission:
Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Faltan Station
Timeline: MD09 - 2010 Hours
The engineering teams were working around the clock to get the base back to operational standards. but hiccups were something common while doing these. One, was where Lieutenant Tendai was working on, the communication grid and as some tweaking and tooling was done. Sarah appears suddenly next to Tendai and winks a bit. Looking at herself and then at Tendai "Lieutenant care to explain how you somehow activated my emergency holo beacon?"
Catrina had been working to get things back up, and these last few hours had been the communications grid. She'd just replaced apart when she heard someone next to her. She jumped back and stared for a moment. "I.." She looked between the image and the panel. "I really wasn't trying to, Lieutenant. I'm sorry. This stuff is a mess." She tried to think who this even was, but knew there was an intel team out there somewhere.
She leans a bit forward looking at her "Catrina Tendai right?" Sarah stated and leans against the panel "Lieutenant Tendai the Chief Engineering Officer at this....paradise?" Sarah looked a bit around with disappointment.
Having never met the woman next to her, Cat raised an eyebrow. "Right. And, if you want to call it paradise, I suppose you can. Nearly as fixed as we can make it." She leaned against the wall. "So, how do you know me and I don't know you?"
Hearing that, made Sarah smile at the unknowing but cute girl "Lieutenant Sarah Dufrai, the Chief Intelligence Officer of Faltan Station. Local pain in the ass for Captain Refelian and letter lover of Commander Prescot" She made a joke out of it "But people tend to call me GreyFox, I am not at Faltan Station but somewhere on Faltan. I can't state...its a secret" She winks at her.
Cat put a hand up. "I know better than to ask about location. Those emergency holo beacons don't normally go far off planet, if at all." She smirked at the comments about the Captain and Commander. "You've got one up on me, I haven't met the Captain yet. Met the Commander once when I first got here. Based on who I've met? I think the Captain has many pain in the ass people. But, that's just my opinion." She was semi oblivious to the smile and the joke.
Laughing a bit at that one as Sarah smiled and shook her hand "That is a good one, more pain makes it an awesome game I always say" Looking around once again "Thought, what brought you here to this little place of misery?"
"Honestly? Not completely sure. I mean, I accepted the assignment, without realizing how bad it was until I read reports on my way here. Commander M'Mira got mad at me for being 'late'. But, I like working with my hands, building or fixing things."
"You got spirit, really found these days" Sarah said and looked back at her "I mean working with your hands is nothing bad, I am rather in the field than behind some desk being bored out of my mind" Sarah let her head rest on the wall "Hope you will find your place here Cat...while a high-class royal pain in the ass Admiral stuck me here....I feel more at home here then i arrived"
She wasn't sure how she knew about the nickname of 'Cat', but again, didn't bother trying to understand it, as she was talking to an intel officer after all. "Well, besides the fact that I really haven't slept since I got here...I'm hoping so too. Maybe I can finally get out of my shell here."
Getting on her knee as Sarah placed her hand on the forehead of Cat and looked into her eyes "It seems you do have focusing problems...." She leans forward to Cat face and smiled "Mmm you look cute from close-up" Giving her quick kiss on the lips as Sarah stands up "Better get some sleep, or a certain cat will be on your ass"
Completely caught off guard by what Sarah had done, Cat could feel her hands start to shake and her heart start to race. She tried her best to keep the flashbacks from flowing in as she shut her eyes tight. She didn't say a word to anything that was stated to her.
Looking at the reaction made Sarah think and narrow her eyes "History hunts us everyday and you are no different" Kneeling in front of her as Sarah looked at Tendai "Look, I know what you are hiding, your history and your pain. I have seen and felt the same pain"
Opening her eyes while still shaking, Cat looked at Sarah. "How...how do you know...what..." She got half the sentence out, trying to get the words straight in her head.
She placed her hand under Cat chin and push it gently up "My apology Cat, I forced myself upon you without thinking about your ...former parnter" Sarah felt a beat in her chest and tended to ignore it "No one will hurt you at Faltan, not with me around"
Letting out a shaky breath, Catrina gave Sarah a small nod. "Not many know. Unless they read my medical bio. Or, like you, just seem to know. I'll be okay, it's just hard for me."
Sitting against the wall as Sarah looked at Cat "I've been in the same position as you, many times and the difference I guess is that I did for my work. But ..." Looking away for a moment letting it sink in of her old memories "It never gets old, you stare into unknown every time, uncertain of what might or might not happen and feeling the urge to call in sick because you have to do things that involves people that plausible...could hurt you" Sarah said with some sadness in her voice.
Cat sat against the wall as well, looking down at her hands as she listened. Once she was done speaking, she looked over at Sarah. "I'm afraid to let anyone get close to me. Haven't since..it happened. I get afraid of finding any feelings for anyone because it's all been ruined. I get..well, you saw how I get. And that was just..."
"The tip of the iceberg..." Sarah ended looking forward out of the station window "I have not been with anyone since the Dominion war, getting people close to me is the biggest fear I have and I love being alone...but" Sarah looked at Cat "... alone coming at a price. You never sleep, never rest and always be remembered of what it was that made you alone in the first place. Even now, on Faltan...I see things differently" She offers a soft smile "Maybe I should open up to someone, you should too"
"So many counselors have tried, but that's their job. But you're right: you don't sleep, you find yourself so alone, that sometimes it is deafening. You shy away from anyone you might even be the smallest bit interested in." Cat shook her head. "Maybe I'll find my place here. I told myself I'd try." She looked back to Sarah and offered the soft smile back. "Or maybe just someone to talk to that understands..might help."
Nodding to her "Good, because that smallest interest got sparked for me with you" Sarah said looking at Cat and noticing how bright and warm her smile looked and looking at her shoes "I mean...someone that does not connect to my job is something I need...someone that understands me...if only a fraction"
"And someone who won't ask you about your work?" Cat noticed Sarah look down and gave a soft sigh. "You..might have to give me a bit on some of that feelings thing, Sarah. I don't know what my mind is telling me right now. But..." She looked back at Sarah, "it is nice to have someone who understands."
She smiled "That kiss was not enough of a feeling thing already Cat?" Sarah looked at the direction of Cat again with a blush on her cheek "A tease for comfort I guess"
Cat chuckled a little. "Maybe a tiny bit, but it's been years so I'm still not even sure what to think on that. And besides," she looked over, smiling at the blush. "Right now? You're a hologram."
Signing at that "Still, a hologram that shows a bit of her feelings ever since the Dominion War" Sarah pointed out "Sticking in the past is something easy to be done, getting out of it is the real challenge" She pointed at her "You should not be beaten down, you look...rather strong and cute. You would get anyone if you open up"
Feeling her face flush, Cat looked away. "No...never had anyone actually tell me that I was cute. Let alone strong and cute. And?" She looked again at Sarah. "You're the first woman to do so."
"Mmm" Sarah replied and looked at the reaction "Does it matter who it says? I belief that if love happens...it does not matter if you male, female or whatever else is out there. It counts in what you feel right there" She points at her chest "That is the true feeling that counts"
"I suppose that is true. It's just new to me is all. It's tricky when you're fighting all the fear that's built up and you've done your best to stay away from anything or anyone who might bring those feelings back."
Nodding towards that as Sarah suddenly pushed Cat down to the ground and hovers over her as she placed her hand next to Cat face and looked close to her "Well to get rid of those fears, you need to face them right?" Sarah said with a soft smile and placed her hand on Cat neck and slowly let it go down feeling her body "Not bad Lieutenant.."
Gasping when she was pushed down to the ground, and feeling her heart race when the hand started to run down her body, Cat tried to fight to get away. She shut her eyes, pushing the flashbacks away as best she could. "No.." she whimpered, pushing Sarah away.
Grabbing her side as Sarah pulled her towards her. Now Cat was sitting with Sarah sitting on her lap and her legs around her hip "Open those beautiful eyes Catrina" Sarah was right in front of Cat and waited.
Doing her best to slow her breathing, Cat allowed her eyes to open. "I'm sorry...that's how ..." She shook her head. "Not important. I'm in my hole pretty deep, aren't I?"
"Nothing to worry about, I got the rope if you desire to come out of that hole Cat" Sarah looked at her and wipe a few tears away "Nothing to be ashamed off" She pointd out "Only to be proud of who you are and look forward. I won't go...well if you disconnnect me I might be"
Cat let out a small chuckle. "Maybe I'll be able to come out of the hole with help. Just give me time to feel comfortable with anything, yeah? Maybe while you're gone, I'll find someone here to help too. But, we probably better get back to work. You out...wherever you are. Me here?"
"You to find someone here? You already trying to get me jealous?" Sarah said a teasing look as she kissed her forehead and stood up "Just ring that frequency and I will come...for you always" Sarah said in all honestly and she did not understand as to why she was saying it at all. Was she getting crazy? Well, she was already considered crazy by all definitions...but this was something else "I promise.."
Cat's eyes went wide as she listened to Sarah. "No, not trying to. Besides, I don't think I'm mentally ready for anything serious as it is. Just knowing someone is there that is willing to help? More than I've had in years."
Stepping backward as she looked at her "If..." She looked a bit away "If...it helps, it has been years that I actually open up to anyone in years. So ...yea" She rubs the back of her head "I guess I am rooting for you and who knows..." She mutters but knowing that Cat hears it "I want you..."
Watching Sarah, Cat stood and listened. She heard the muttering and her heart skipped a beat. "Well, I um..am glad I made you comfortable enough to speak about it." She looked down at her feet. She wasn't even sure how to respond to the last bit, and started stammering, but never actually said anything.
Sarah looked at her as she grabs suddenly to her ear as Cat could see her facial expression change "I..." Sarah shrugs and looked away wanting to stay, talk and ease her nerves. But the Crystals were going to go towards a dangerous mission and everything needed to be planned out carefully. She was going to take risk "I...want to ...you know to stay..."
Cat kept her eye on Sarah as she spoke, seeing the change. "To..stay?" She was slightly confused, trying to figure out exactly what Sarah meant.
"Well better words...duty calls and they want me back in the field" Sarah shrugs and looked away "This accidental connection ...might have been the very thing I needed" Looking back at her "I hope you call me again....accidentally of course"
"Maybe I'll find a reason to come in here again when repairs are done. Some excuse or something." Cat shrugged. "Just hoping I don't end up interrupting you in the middle of a mission."
"Heh," She blushes actually for the first time in her life and looked away "You...never interrupt me Catrina... You don't have to be here to call me. I will appear for you anywhere'' She looked back at her "In a few weeks I need to report back at Faltan Station in person. I would be...honored if you would be here to welcome me"
"I um.." Cat stammered again. "As long as I know ahead of time? I'll do my best to be there." What was she saying? Where was her head even going? And I'll still be careful in contacting you, just in case. Don't want to break your cover or anything."
Giving away a smile "Good to know that someone waits for me...and hey I am pro" With that she turned around and slowly disappears from the corridor leaving the Lieutenant alone.
Letting out a shaky breath, Cat watched Sarah vanish. "What are you doing, Cat?" She shook her head and went back to work, glancing down the corridor where Sarah had vanished again before continuing.
