Mission: Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: Mint’s Quarters
Timeline: MD03 - 0815

Cat sat with a mug of hot cocoa on Mint’s couch waiting for her to get back. With the party being later, she was doing a work-from-home type of thing, trying to make sure they had the decorations ready to put up when she got back to work. But colors were not her strong suit, so she was waiting here to talk to Mint about them.

She was extremely grateful that she had been able to sleep somewhere other than her own room, because she actually got a bit more sleep than she had before. Not that it was extremely restful, but there was more of it.

Mint walked through the door in a daze. She was surprised to see Cat still there, but just shrugged it off. "Morning, sleep well?" She walked to the replicator as she spoke, too lazy to turn on the coffee pot she had on her counter. After ordering her coffee, she turned and leaned against the wall, waiting for Cat's response.

Carefully watching Mint as she came in, Cat raised an eyebrow, putting the decorations PADD down. “Better than I had been. You okay?”

"Yeah," she shook her head before walking over to the couch. "Just thinking about the discussion I'll have to have with Refelian later..." Mint plopped down and put one leg up on the coffee table. "What are you working on?"

Picking the PADD back up, Cat shrugged. “Um, decorations. I got everything else done, except that. I am horrible at colors. Actually, he told me to talk to you about it.” She gave a concerned look, but knew not to press anything about what Mint meant.

"Hmm... colours..." she sipped her coffee while she thought. "How about blue and silver?" Mint shrugged, then leaned over slightly to glance at Cat's PADD. "Or we can go with purple, but that may come off as pretentious given the connotation of 'royal' that always comes with it. I would avoid green," she smirked. "And red and gold are just so typical. We also don't want to go too dark, but also not too light."

“So, your mind did what mine did and went through all the color scenarios. I did have silver in mind, but couldn’t think of what to go with it.” Cat marked blue on the PADD and sent the information down to the team that was already working. “Luckily, the decorations themselves were already picked out.” She tossed the PADD onto the table and sat back with a sigh, glancing over, not saying anything, not even being sure what to say.

The silence was killing her, mostly because it gave her time to think about her current situation. "I would suggest picking a few shades of blue, instead of just one. Match them with silver or even bronze," Mint set her coffee down. "And arrange them so there's a depth to them, we don't want everything looking flat and bland."

She looked over to Cat, knowing she was babbling and probably reiterating everything the other woman knew. "Cat... I wanted Harry to be the first to know, but I'm scared and need to tell someone before I hurl... I'm pregnant..." Mint blurted out, talking fast, and picking at her nails nervously.

She listened to the talk about the colors, and had already thought of that. But it seemed to Cat that Mint needed to talk, she she let her talk. But once the last part came out, her eyes went wide for a moment. But a moment later, she wrapped Mint in a hug, not actually saying anything. It had been in the back of her mind with how emotional she’d been the night before, but she didn’t say anything.

The second Mint was pulled into the hug, tears started streaming down her face. "I don't know how to tell him," she sniffled, wiping her face, then returning the hug. "This is the worst timing," she muttered. "Not only the party, and VIPs, but a wench from my past is here as a FNS reporter, and Harry's daughter, who is the same age as me, is here with her toddler son..." she started sobbing again.

“Hey,” Cat stated softly and pulled back just enough to wipe a few tears away. “You love him, don’t you? Just talk to him.” She had heard about the FNS reporter and hadn’t realized that there was a past there. “Send that damned woman my way, she can deal with all the silence she’ll get out of me. I’m not in any mood while Sarah is missing to talk, but she can try.” She gently put a hand on Mint’s cheek. “You’ll be okay. I’ll help any way I can. But you need to talk to the captain, before all the VIPs get him wrapped up in things and drag him away from you.”

Mint sighed. "That wench tried to ruin my career before it even started because she doesn't understand the concept of open relationships..." she shook her head. "Got me drunk one night and well, I don't remember much but apparently we had sex. She then started rumours around the academy that I'm a whore who was sleeping with all my instructors to get my good grades. All because she didn't like the fact that I was screwing her brother and a few others at the same time," anger roiled in her stomach, on top of the nausea she already felt. "Ugh..." she ran to the bathroom and lost the contents of her stomach.

"Sorry..." she frowned. "That was probably more information than you wanted... but yes, I don't like Candy Templeton and she knows it. She loves playing the ditzy blonde. So infuriating!" Mint began to pace. "Oh god... if news of my relationship with Harry gets to her... and this," she gestured to her abdomen. "I'm ruined... maybe I should go into hiding until she's gone...."

Cat shook her head. “It’s okay. She can try to dig into my relationship with Sarah instead. I won’t let her bother you. You don’t need the stress right now as it is. I might not either, but you don’t need it more. Go talk to him. I’ll stay in here until I absolutely have to go on duty in case the blonde comes to find you. I’ll lead her away somewhere.”

"No, you should head to your office. If she finds you here in my quarters, she'll likely start rumours that I'm having a relationship with you too," Mint sighed. "Alright, I'll go find Harry, then head to flight control to continue coordinating VIP arrivals. Hopefully this nausea goes away..." she picked up the coffee, which now caused her stomach to churn and placed it in the replicator to be recycled.

Nodding, Cat stood up and folded the blanket she’d been under before putting her own mug in the replicator. “I’ve heard different types of tea might help with that. Not that I’d know myself but, worth trying.” She wrapped Mint in another hug. “Go on. Might want to tell him you love him too.” She gave Mint a soft smile.

"Ha. That'll be the best conversation. 'Harry, I love you! Oh and I'm pregnant...'," she shook her head, but giggled a little. "I'm actually scared to tell him, this is only the second time I've actually felt something for someone," she shrugged. "And the first time didn't turn out well."

“Just start slow, you’ll figure out how to tell him. He’ll probably be able to tell you want to talk the moment you get there anyways.” Cat gave Mint one more hug. “Go ahead. I’ll be in my office or setting up the decorations if you need me, okay?”

"Alright," Mint returned the hug. "And call me if you need more help with the decor. I know I should hand it off to M'Mira, but well, she'll probably take over on you." She smiled at Cat and shrugged. "It'll all get sorted in the end. Just going to be a bumpy ride for a bit, I think."
