Mission 2: Into The Breach
Location: USS Minotaur & Faltan Station
Timeline: MD04 - 2030 hours
It was late, they were all exhausted. Other than the rescued crew from the Medway, none of them had really slept unless they fell asleep while at their consoles. Everyone from the Medway was at least stable. There were some that were going to need to be transported elsewhere for more treatment, but they'd at least make it there.
Cat glanced over at Mint before checking the time to Faltan. It'd been quiet for the last hour or so. "We're close," is all she really said, trying to stifle a yawn.
Connor nodded sleepily while his computer console beeped at him. "Um, uh, can anyone explain why there is a Klingon ship wrecked in the docks?"
Mint leaned forward, confusion on her face. "What do you mean a wrecked Klingon ship in the docks?" She stifled a yawn, but her mind now went into overdrive.
Digging around in the reports, Cat rubbed her temples. "He's not kidding, Mint." She downloaded the report she could get to a PADD and handed it to her. "Exploded on the surface based on what I've read."
Taking the PADD, Mint frowned. "What the hell is going on down there?" She muttered aloud as she read the preliminary report. "Looks like it's been calm down there for a little while now, let's get down there and we can figure out what's going on after we get these people to medical on the station."
"Can I, um, look, um, into it, um, tomorrow? I could do it tonight, if you, um, ordered but...." Connor yawned as he completed his sentence.
"Yes, tomorrow," Mint tried not to roll her eyes. "First we get home, second we get the Medway crew settled, third we all get some much needed rest." She tried hard not to yawn herself, but struggled. "Duffell, what's our ETA?"
"Twenty minutes, Captain," Duffell called from helm, also trying not to yawn. She stretched before resuming her previous position.
"Good, the end is in sight people." Mint said with a sincere smile. Tapping the console on the arm of her chair she opened a channel. =^= Bridge to sickbay. How are our friends doing, Doctor? =^=
Leo heard the call and yawned before hitting his combadge. =^= Everyone is stable, Commander. They'll all make it to where it is that they need to go...including the Captain's family member.=^=
=^= Good job, Doc. Thank you.=^= Mint cut the comm. Turning to face Masters at the tactical station, Mint cleared her throat. "Masters, I want you to escort any of the Medway crew that can walk to the sickbay, we'll transport the most critical and those that cannot walk."
Tapping the center console again, Mint opened a shipwide communication. =^= We are minutes away from Faltan Station. To the Medway crew, we will transport critical and those unable to walk to the medical facilities there as soon as we arrive. Any who can walk will be taken there by our security team. To the Faltan crew, thank you for all your hard work and pushing through. You've all done amazingly and I'm proud of each and every one of you! Once we have settled the Medway crew, you are all to head straight to your quarters and get some much deserved and needed rest! I do not want to see you anywhere related to duty for the next twenty-four hours!"
Listening to Mint, Cat sighed. "Twenty-four hours, really? Do you think I'll be able to do that?" She let out a yawn, knowing she was tired, but also knew there was still work to do.
"You're almost more of a workaholic than I am, so no, I don't think you will, but I'd like you to try. We've been on the go far too long," Mint said with a chuckle. "I'm surprised we haven't started hallucinating yet."
"Or completely started snoring on our consoles. I swear I fell asleep a few times..maybe?" Cat stretched a bit. "But a good eight or so hours of straight sleep? That I can do in a heartbeat."
Connor protested, practically whining. "But the computers.... They need me. The Station might not, um, like it with me being off for a full day...."
Raising an eyebrow, Cat looked to Connor, "No, sleep. The Station has lasted this long without you, it'll last longer."
"Turner if you are anywhere except your quarters in the morning, I will personally stand over you until you return to them," Mint said with a mischievous grin, throwing a wink to Cat.
Connor tried to squeak a protest but looking up at Mint, all he could manage was a squeak. After a few tormented moments, he whispered, "Yes, um, ma'am."
Unable to contain a smirk, Cat looked to Connor. "How many people do we have on the engineering team, Connor? They've lasted this long. Besides, what good are you going to do the computer if you are falling asleep while working?" She double-checked the time before they would be there, though it hadn't changed enough to report anything.
"I don't know how many we have on the team, but ma'am, you know.... Um, you know.... Um, well, what I can do compared, um, to others," Connor continued to protest weakly.
"Yes, we all know you're much better with computer systems than anyone else, Turner, but you need to rest," Mint said with a roll of her eyes. "You're not going to win this so give up already."
"Fine," Connor sulked. "Just if anything goes wrong, you'll contact me immediately, right?"
"Yes, Mister Turner, now please stop sulking before someone thinks you're a cute little puppy and takes you home with them," Mint teased.
Connor was not amused and hastily replied, "I have a girlfriend."
"Lovely," Mint said managing to keep the sarcasm out of her voice. "Now let's focus on work again, shall we?"
Exactly when Duffell estimated their arrival, the USS Minotaur arrived in orbit of Faltan III. With a nod from Mint, Duffell requested landing clearance and went through all the official motions of bringing the station's ship in to land. Her hands moved deftly over the console and it was barely felt when they entered the atmosphere and brought themselves in to their designated landing pad. "And the eagle has landed," she said cheekily as they gently touched down.
"Great job, Duffell," Mint grinned. "Alright people, lets get the Medway crew to medical and then sleep!"
Shutting down the engineering station, Cat stretched as she stood up. "Medway to medical, then drag ourselves to our quarters you mean?" She smirked and headed back to help start getting the personnel ready for transport that needed it.
"Or just have the medical team beam us there," Mint said, giggling at her own joke, clearly overtired. "Come on, lets get going before we all fall asleep here."
“Oh I’m sure they would love that...” Cat said with a smirk.
