Mission: Mission 1: The Return to Faltan
Location: Government Building, Faltan City
Timeline: MD04 - 1513

"CAPTAIN!" Mint's eyes went wide as she tried to catch him as he fell. Adrenaline flooded her system and she didn't feel pain, but she definitely felt her left shoulder muscles pull as she caught Refelian's upper body. Time slowed as she went down with him. All noise ceased to reach her ears, and she could only focus on him.

The moment that the Captain went down, M'Mira sprung into action. Her claws came out, her painted nails in the lighting looking more like blood than a happy fire engine red. "Everyone down," she called out with her claws stretched to attack anyone that came near. "Where's that Security Chief when you need him?" she complained. "Any doctors? Here, now!" she shrieked while simultaneously searching in the direction of the projectile, hoping her keen eyesight might spot the attacker.

Damon quickly arrived. "Status of the captain?" He looked around, looking for potential assassins. "Where is the commander?"

Aereen was already on her knees next to the Captain. "Projectile wound. Left shoulder. I need something to apply to pressure." She shouted. "And someone get your ass to runabout and get me a med kit."

"Here," Mint said, yanking off her uniform jacket, "M'Mira, cut a piece off that, we can use it as a temporary tourniquet and bandage." She practically tossed it to her friend. "Doctor, do what you can to stabilize him for transport. We must get him back to the station."

“Mister Rhize, get a defence team over to that tower! I want whoever did this caught!” The Governor barked as he got back to his feet.

When everything happened, Mika had pulled down a nearby server, and then was immediately joining Aereen and assisting her.

Calistas hands moved rapidly with expert precession using using the piece of uniform to stop the bleeding. "Can we can a transport lock, beam us directly to sickbay on the Minotaur?" She asked, the Captain had lost consciousness but she had managed to stop the worst of the bleeding.

“You won’t be able to. The Government Building was designed so nothing could be beamed in or out.” Rhize commented as he pulled out a communication device and started barking orders down it.

All of a sudden the large wooden doors swung open with Deputy Taga, weapon in hand, leading a team of armed guards. “What’s going on? Is the Governor alright?” She called out.

“Yes yes, I’m fine. Get help, they want to get their Captain back to their station.” The Governor said.

"Since we can't beam him to the Minotaur from here, we'll need something flat we can carry him out on," Mint's eyes searched the room. "Maybe a table?"

Damon stood up, ran over to one of the buffet tables, turned it on it's, which caused all the food and drink to slide off, then he broke the legs of the table off and dragged it over to where the captain laid. "Commander. Request permission to have a security squad board a 2nd runabout and meet us here."

"That won't be required," Mint shook her head. "By the time they meet us here, we'll have Captain Refelian and Doctor Aereen on the Minotaur and be on our way back with the shuttle. Besides, I'm sure Mister Rhize's people can keep us safe until we are within teleporting range." She looked at Rhize and her bright blue eyes bore into him, daring him to contradict her, anger flashing momentarily across them.

"Commander," Damon looked around the room, "I don't trust Rhize or his people...they might be behind this attack on the captain."

Mint practically growled. Damon didn't seem to like anyone, nor trust them. "Look," she said, sitting back on her haunches and looking up at him. "We don't know who is behind this attack. Lets not cast blame until the investigation has been completed," she sighed, looking at the blood on her hands. "For now, we have to trust that they will keep us safe at least long enough to get Captain Refelian back to the station." She wanted to tell him not to make the situation worse, but she felt she shouldn't have to. Instead, she gave him a fierce look, one that warned him to stay quiet.

M'Mira did hiss at Damon. While he was right not to trust anyone here, did he have to verbalize it? This was a diplomatic mission! This Security Chief thought with all of his brawn and not his brain. She sized him up and decided that she could probably take him, despite his advantage in weight and height.

Damon starred at her. He could see that she was sizing him up.

Once they'd carefully transferred Refelian onto the table, Mint stood and wiped the blood off of her hands with what was left of her jacket. "I'm sorry to seem ungrateful or rude, Governor, but we must leave now," she thought about offering him her hand to shake, but gripped her jacket tighter instead. "We will be in touch." Without another word, she squatted to lift the front right corner of the table. "Let's go people!"

Mika immediately grabbed the left corner as he looked back to Damon.

Damon held onto the back of the table, and moved gently.

M'Mira was distraught. With the Captain down, she was temporarily second in command. And while she relished this opportunity, she also wanted to be there for the captain. She hoped she made it despite his useless appendage of an animal. "Commander," M'Mira started. "Permission to stay here. Someone should be here, or a small team to coordinate an investigation on this attack, with the Governor's permission, of course. I would think that the Governor would want to look into this as well. Perhaps a joint team would help relations?"

Mint sighed. There was no way she was going to let M'Mira stay by herself, but at the same time, she didn't trust the Faltans to do a thorough and proper investigation. "If you are agreeable, Governor," she looked up at him, "I would like Commander M'Mira and a small team of security officers from the station to stay and assist." She looked at M'Mira, concern etched on her face, then over to Damon. "IF the Governor is agreeable, you will send a small team, armed for protection ONLY to assist M'Mira and the investigation here."

The Governor hesitated for a few moments before looking at his Deputy, who in turn, gave him a stern look. “Err, I’m afraid I can’t permit that. We will lead the search for the shooter. Projectile weapons are mainly used for sport so there aren’t too many about, we’ll find them and bring them to justice.”

“Give then a medal more like.” The Chief of Diplomacy said under his breath as he smirked.

Mint wanted to challenge the Governor about who was really in charge, but let it go. Now was not the time to argue, they had to get Refelian to safety, which apparently did not exist anywhere in Faltan City. "Alright," her voice was tight as she resisted saying more. "Let's go people, we have no time to waste," she said to the station crew, rallying them once again to the task at hand. She lifted the table, along with the others, on the count of three.

M'Mira's eyes narrowed at the Diplomacy Chief. Some diplomat! And what is the Governor afraid of that he will not let us stay? Something stinks here.

-----------

Calista was moving with the make shift gurney as they headed to the landing PADD. "Hopefully once we're outside we'll be able to transport to the Minatour, if not we'll get him aboard the Runabout and we should be able to use it's transporter."

Tapping her combadge, she opened a channel to the ship. "This Aereen I need sickbay prepped for surgery immediately, the Captain has a gunshot wound and has lost a lot of blood make sure we're ready to transfuse as soon as we get him there."

Mint nodded. "I can't reach my comm, M'Mira, have the Minotaur standby to transport Captain Refelian and Doctor Aereen as soon as they're able." She looked at the rest of the crew gathered. "Once they're transported, we drop the table and get to the shuttle as quickly as possible. Who has piloting experience here?"

The Caitian gave Mint a serious nod and ran speedily and gracefully to Mint's comm. "I am on it Commander." Once she got it, she called out on the comm, “Minotaur, the Captain is down. Please standby for transport. We must get outside the Faltan City Goverrrnment Building shields and force fields first. I will let you know the moment we're outside. Acknowledge.”

"I can pilot, Commander," Mika said over to Mint.

"Good," Mint smiled at him, and gave him a nod. "When we reach the shuttle, you shall pilot. I'll be co-pilot. Get us home as fast as you can."

Damon held the table that the captain laid on. While he waited for the transport, he continued to scan the area for any indication of danger.

He hoped that the captain or the commander would give him permission to bring back a security detail to look for the shooter, regardless of what the governor wanted. Local rules need to be ignored when any Starfleet personnel are attacked and injured.

”Did you just say the Captain was down?” Came the response from a very young officer.

Is the comm out? Is he hearing impaired “Affirmative,” M'Mira finally responded. “We are on the move. On my mark....” M'Mira started watching to make sure that the signal was given the moment that the Captain was outside of the Government Building.

“Standing by, Commander?” came the reply.

The group made it out onto the landing pad where they had parked the runabout. "We're clear, are we free of the transport dampening field yet?" Areena said.

M'Mira double checked with her tricorder. "We're clear." On the comm, M'Mira growled, “Lock on the Captain and beam him immediately to sickbay along with the doctor.” Her tail wilted as the energy encircled the Captain. She gave a look at Mint, her eyes worried and large.

“We’ve got a lock, energising.” Said the voice over the comm.

Damon made a vow that if the captain died, he would rain hell on the planet.

As soon as the Minotaur beamed Refelian and Aereen away, Mint dropped her end of the table. "NOW! Run!" She called to her fellows as she did so. She took off as fast as she could for the shuttle, feeling the pounding feet behind her. All she could hope was that the rest of them made it back to the station safely. Something in her gut told her not to trust these Faltans anymore. Once they were on the shuttle, she barked out orders and jammed herself into the co-pilot's seat. She would not feel safe until they were back at the station. She prayed Refelian would be alright as she assisted Rai'z get the shuttle ready for flight.

Minotaur

Calista felt the transporter take her and a moment later she was in the Minotaur, the Captain had materialized on the biobed in the surgical bay, which given the size of the Minotaur was the main biobed in sickbay. "Alright get the transfusion started, and get the surgical arch up I need to see how bad the damage is."
