Mission:
Mission 4 - Like a Thunderbolt
Location: Sickbay
{ON}
As promised Kara had arrived at Sickbay to spend some time with Grace, as much as Grace was in a coma Kara was hoping that being near her twins, which Kara was carrying, would give Grace reason to wake up. That, and her son who was being cared for whilst Grace was unable, and Tristian was working.
With them both being Betazoid Kara was trying to keep her mind open to Grace, sharing her sense of Grace’s twins.
Tristian slowly walked over to Kara. He smiled kindly. Having Grace around, no matter her capacity was keeping Tristian alive. For every breath she took, the computer alerted her ongoing struggle within. Hudson had tried every type of standard, theoretical, and even spiritual giving to reach his Wife. Their children. Would they both grow up without their real Mother? This was something Tristian was not ready to relinquish, suffice to say never. Nobody could tell him it was over. He knew. He knew within the depths of his body, his lingering feeling; essence has you that Grace would recover, smile. Grace would wake from her bed and have so much life within her to love, live and raise their children together.
"Kara." Hudson stood beside her and then took a chair and brought it over for her to have a seat with him near Grace's lying, comatose body. "I am happy that you have come to see Grace. I know she misses you. You and Tomer's friendship goes beyond, and it is touching that you care as you do." Tristian sat beside her with his hands placed flatly together. He looked to Grace and then to Kara. "Do you ever sense anything from Grace... Would." Then Kara knew the yearning that Tristian had. He yearned for any inkling of communication from Grace. "Do you think she will recover?" The Doctor asks the Betazoid the elephant question in the room. He was beyond comfortable not bringing this up. He needed to speak to someone, no matter what. It was a grasp.
Kara offered an understanding smile. “I’m sure she will Tristian, you and your people saved Grace’s life. She’s just...” She frowned as she looked at Grace, “she’s...trying to find her way back.” She held out her hand. “Give me your hand.”
Tristian was unsure if this was medically sound. He slowly turned from Kara taking Grace’s hand gently into his, feeling her warmth in his hand, and grasped it.
Taking hold of Grace’s hand Kara closed her eyes. She was going to try to bridge a connection between Tristian and his beloved wife. “Call her Tristian...she needs you to bring her back.”
Tristian felt odd calling his wife’s name in the sick bay with nurses. Hudson breathed, closing off the outside world, resting momentarily, letting his mind free itself from everything. “Grace…” The sound in his voice yearned for her. “Grace, you need to hear my love.” Tristan’s eyes were still closed as he felt her gentle warm hand, lifeless into his.
Kara could feel Grace more now, Tristian calling her seemed to be working. “That’s it Grace...come back to us.”
In Sickbay Grace’s fingers gently twitched, then gradually she took hold of Tristian’s hand. As Grace’s biobed readings gradually rose, Kara slowly withdrew her connection. Even that minor connection had taken a lot out of her.
Tristian felt the lilt of her fingers gently slide a bit, if for a moment. Life.
Opening his eyes he paused, Kara was still seated but looked terribly tired. As if a miracle had been brought forth by Kara. "Grace... Grace Baby" Hudson held back tears, as he searched Graces face, beside her on the bio bed. He raced through emotions, his right hand holding her face and his left hand.
"Nurse!!" Tristian had called and then whipped out his tricorder on Kara with their twins, as Grace's biobed monitor showed improving signs that improved moment. "I need a crash cart, I need heeeelllpp!!!" Hudson was going through waves of emotions. His twins, and then his Wife. Reaching for a med kit, Tristian placed a neural hydration IV cc 0007 for Kara carrying the twins and then put her lying on the biobed aside of Grace.
As the first nurse had rushed over to attend to Grace and Kara, Hudson directed them. Within minutes Hudson was back at Grace's bedside. He sat down and held her hand into his, he didn't want to break the connection... "Grace.... Grace can you hear me, my Love? We are here. We're in sick bay. Our Babies are here. Kara is here with us...Baby..." Hudson was in between coaxing Grace back into the room and applying and giving medication to her as her body seemed to be at a crossroads... Of waking?
Ever so slowly Grace’s eyes opened, it took a moment but she slowly focussed in on Tristian. “Imzadi...” she squeezed his hand with what strength she had. “Our...babies!” Her eyes watered as she realised she couldn’t feel her twins within.
“Right...here Grace” Kara offered a tired smile as she looked towards Grace’s biobed from where she lay.
Hudson then brought the two biobeds closer to each other. The twins could bridge a connection with Kara and Grace side by side. Hudson stood at the right side of Grace’s biobed, monitoring her cognitive functioning with an iso dilator, accessing her brain functions.
Hudson was ready for this. All of this. He had waited, and his prayers were answered. He leaned and kissed Grace's head and laid his left side of his head on her right side, gently as he closed his eyes. Wanting to bridge his own connection, his hand reaching down to Graces... "I knew you wouldn't leave us, you are our fighter, Grace!" He squeezed her hand
Kara smiled as she closed her eyes to rest, bridging the connection had been extremely tiring. Now Tristian had Grace back she could rest knowing Grace was on the road to recovery.
Grace squeezed her husband’s hand. “What...happened?”
“You were hurt from bomb blasts. You fell into a coma, Grace.” Tristian held her hands in his, as he searched her. It was her; it was his Grace who had returned. He was overwhelmed as a tear fell down his left cheek, he leaned in to hug her but not to overwhelm her as she was awakening.
“We all feared that we lost you, but… Kara, we had to change things to save the twins.” At this point, Grace didn’t know she was not carrying their twins. Tristian did not want to overwhelm her, nor tell her at this point for fear that Grace would panic. Hudson kissed her hands. “My love you returned. I knew you would!” Hudson gleamed.
Grace wasn’t quite conscious enough to understand what Tristian was saying, but her senses were picking up on her babies nearby. She squeezed his hand before slowly drifting back to sleep, but this time it was just a normal sleep not a coma.
Hudson kept Kara and Grace in both close watches. The twins were doing well, however the energy that Kara expended between the telepathic bridge was hard on her. So, Tristian ensured she was taken care of and resting as he informed Tomer. As well, Grace was just as tired from the event. Her body having come back into the living realm from her coma, yet now she was sedated for comfort and for her sleep. Grace needed time and sleep.
Whispering as he watched the two in the darkness of the sickbay's evening lighting, Hudson stated. "Be well our beauties. Stay strong." He whispered before turning back to his office.
