Mission: Mission 4 - Like a Thunderbolt
Location: Captain's Office
Timeline: MD02

Twenty-four hours had passed since the attack on the planetary station. Death tolls were still rising. The number of people missing was steady. And M'Mira was tired. Twenty-four hours without sleep. Twenty-four hours without much of a cat nap and M'Mira was rather fond of cat naps. Even her office was barely furnished. There was nothing to be done. Six hours ago, she started putting in requests for replacement officers. A number of ships were attached to the new space station. Perhaps someone would transfer from them. She crawled up onto the top of her desk, curled up and tried to get an hour or two of shut eye in.

Yuri had received his orders at the very last minute. Told to report to this Station and take up an immediate role. He had packed enough, not knowing if this was temporary or permanent. He was directed to the office and then he pressed the chime.

M'Mira cursed her luck. Irritably, without bothering to get up from the desk, she called out, "Come in!" She un-curled on the desk and turned on her right side, so she could face the door. Her feline feet, as usual were un-shoed. Her tail limply laid on the desk, praying that whatever was coming through that door was going to give her some relief.

Yuri walked on inside after being given permission. He walked a few steps before noticing the Caitan sprawled over the desk. "If this is a bad time I can go?"

"Everrrything is a bad time rrright now," M'Mira grumbled. Her tail tried to raise up but quickly hit the desk again. "Tell me that you arrre brrringing me good news." She squinted her eyes over at Yuri and asked irritably, "And who arrre you anyways? How'd you get by my yeoman?"

"Lieutenant Yuri Koloff reporting." He said as he delicately placed the PaDD with his orders on the edge of her desk. "Given the nature of the last few hours I would say your Yeoman is the least of your concerns."

M'Mira weakly took the PADD in her left paw and looked it over. "New Chief Strrrategic Officerrr. Well, that's convenient. The last one is prrresumed dead. Maybe you can coorrrdinate strrrategy in this arrrea betterrr?" She gave a snort of derision. "I've had more luck getting things coordinated with ourrr FNS Rrreporrrterrrr. You may have seen some of herrr rrreporrrts: Candy Templeton."

Yuri gritted his teeth and whistled. "Pretty thing, I like her expose on the ins and outs of illegal Dabo rings, her work on the Bolian Mafia? Not as fun as it sounds."

"Did you miss the one she did on Faltan? Embarrrrrrrrassed the previous Captain and XO, who subsequently became the Captain and then left. I was the fourrrth Commanderrrr of the station. Had the most lenghty peace with the Falteans until this," she pouted. "Well, if she will tell you anything, she is prrrobably yourrr best bet to get inforrrmation until I am able to get a moment's rrrrest."

"Understood Commander." He looked around the room and noticed sparsity of it, "How bad was it? Reports from the Intelligence and Strat Ops communities are scrambled."

M'Mira sighed heavily. "This station was not scheduled to be rrready for at least anotherrr few months. As to on the grrround, this is what happened, a man materialized in the middle of the rrroom, his skin started to blister and brown. Although he was in obvious pain, he screamed, 'You! Invaders! Federrration! Rrromulans! This is what you have wrrrought upon us! You destrrroy our world! You conquerrr us with this station and trrry to make us into you! No morrre! It ends now!' He scrrreamed in obvious pain. Larrrge lumps started to forrrm on the man. It was if he were bubbling from the inside out. His body starrrted to steam and beforrre anyone could apprrroach the man, he exploded. Entrails, blood, and organs splattered everrrywherrre. No soonerrr than anyone was touched by any of the rrremains or blood, others starrrted to show immediate signs of skin burrrns. The prrrocess then rrrepeated. I had everrry available ship evacuate us herrre. Ourrr XO is missing but I had a rrreporrrt that she was missing beforrre this attack, so I hold out hope that she is still alive. As to the otherrrs...."

Yuri stood there. "Jesus....Those poor..." And the next part of his sentance was in Russian, though it was pretty easy to figure out what he had said. "I used to be an Undercover operative on Romulus and I can tell you that when it comes to threats they dont screw around."

"The Rrromulans helped us. They lent theirrr ships to brrringing people overrr. You might want to talk with the Rrromulan Ambassadorrr. You will find him to be rrrrather unique. Ourrr XO was quite close to him, which is naturrral as she has some Rrromulan herrritage." M'Mira stifled a yawn as it came out. "I take it he thrrreatened the Falteans. Goverrrnorrrr Taga is not to be trrrifled with."

"I can imagine that such a delicate and fractured time breeds anger and discontent." Yuri nodded. "It's not so easy to just ignore the centuries of hurt."

M'Mira was too tired to argue or correct Yuri. "Welcome to the new Faltan Station, Lieutenant. We'll talk again when I get some rrrest."

Yuri nodded. "Yes Commander I will try and find my office and my quarters." He replied as he gave one last glance. "Thank you for your time."

With a wave, M'Mira dismissed Yuri. The moment that he left, her head was back down on the desk, eyes closed.
